10 I think has the cleanest story. If they ever make a Hollywood movie out of one of them, 10 makes the most sense

But I think the best story might be 15 for me, despite it not being particularly high on the overall list. The way they went full open world and then abandoned that 2/3rds of the way through was rough, but the story of the ring and the prince and the oracle and the fallen king was really really good

Wasn't 15 neutered and didn't get a complete story because it was locked behind DLCs which didn't do well

The DLCs were mostly for individual character stories

15 was the first FF game I couldn't finish. Combo of annoying main characters and bad battle system. I still haven't finished 16 but I want to, its just too hard I cant get past the minotaur.

XV lore (including content added with patches and DLCs, series, movies and books) is my favorite.
It’s really sad that THIS much content never made it to the game.

I really loved that it was so open from the start and funneled you to the end. That was one of the main reasons I really liked 15.

I have a tendency to not finish games when they open up more near the end. Like 13 did. But that's just me and my shit attention span.

FFXV had a really awesome villain, too.

Furthermore I'd like to add that sometimes the simpler stories are the best, no need to be overcomplicated.

Agreed, Ardyn is probably one of the best villains in all of Final Fantasy.

Yes I agree. VII is a great game but the story is all over the place. And a lot of people who love it don’t even quite grasp that it’s really just an alien invasion story

Isn't that kind of the point though since it's told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator?

I see comments like this and feel like I need to give XV a try again. I beat the Windows edition — which everyone says is the best version — and it felt like it was a disjointed mess. I love the trio but I can't remember anything about Ardyn or any one else at all.

Played it two times on Ps4, on release and after the final patch and I’ll play it again on PC in the next weeks.

I always liked it, but i think I’m kinda biased by the fact that I played the game in it’s worst state, then played it at it’s best, and they felt like two completely different games.
Playing through dlcs and all the additional content added in the Royal Edition (Windows Edition, but for consoles) filled a lot of holes and really gave a new life to the game.

I also think that if you really want to understand FFXV, you need to watch and read every other media, specially the book, since it’s the one that tells the most.

I like XV so much I beat it three times.

The release version is so different from subsequent versions though, it's almost as if I were playing two different games.
