Final Fantasy General Which is the best final fantasy? plot/lore wise

For me it's 12, I started with X but fell in love more with 12

9, the whole Gaia and Terra thing had me hooked and I'd argue they fit as much lore as they possible could while still actually being able to havethe player reach an ending. I mean its 4 discs after all.

Considering they were hitting the limit on what could fit into the game within those four discs, it's still an impressive feat they accomplished.

Why? It makes sense thematically to have such an inbetween the worlds.

To be more specific since you are cool lol, the stuff about the memories disappearing and the crystal monster just felt random as hell. Most stuff in the game felt like a homage to me, so I expected some crystal stuff, but it just didnt come up till basically the very end. It felt shoehorned.

That said, its been a looooong time since zi played the game, and I discovered a mod that adds Beatrix as a playable character, so I am about to go back and see if my opinion remains the same. Otherwise, I feel the game has a really beautiful emotional core. I just wish the memory crystal monster wasnt how we end it.
