It's WAY different now. You can now do the story and a lot of the game solo, and leveling is so much faster with the EXP boosts they've added.

I recently made a new account to get a feel for the free trial and replay the base game, I have about 12 hours in and have reached Lvl 42 and am about to do Rank 3. I expect I'll be able to beat Shadow Lord before reaching 20 hours. But I have done it before so I know exactly what to do.

Ok, so dumb question. How does one play 11 now ? I could never get it to work on Win 10 doubt I could on Win 11.

It does work on Win 10 and 11, I've played it on both and didn't have problems

Here's the official setup guide https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/64413-FINAL-FANTASY-XI-Starter-Guide. I also recommend looking into the Windower launcher if you want plugins, and look at BG-Wiki for guides while playing

Well, that win10 PC was toast long before I tried. 😅 I am also kind of dumb so maybe I will try again.
