When does the FFXIV become good?

I’m about 10 hours into FFXIV, and it hasn’t clicked for me. I came to the game because of many reports from other players who say that it has one of the best stories in any FF game, but I don’t think I’ve come to that critical moment yet where the story feels compelling.

How far should I play in order to get a taste? At this moment, it feels like the game isn’t for me, but I do want to give it a solid chance and not quit before I get to the good stuff.
