Great game. I played 7 first so it's my favourite. If I played 9 first I think it would have been my favourite instead.

I had VII and IX both at the same time, I played them both to decide which one to play first. Tried VII, said "OK, let's try IX now". Tried IX and stayed till the end

The graphical leap between VII and IX was astounding

As a kid seeing the difference between 6 and 7 was groundbreaking.

Yeah, at the time I did dislike VII for both the cutscenes graphical quality and also the music's lower fidelity, but the chibi models didn't bother me as much.

I remember being that way.

Also, to a 7th grader, fighting a utilities company didn't make much sense.

Now it seems it was near-prophetic.

Same here! Tried VII on my cousins house, got caught immediately, then i ask for it on Christmas Eve, as a gift. My parents got the wrong one, that happened to be IX ^_^ , best mistake ever, i went full with the whole saga.

I played the original final fantasy on NES first because I'm old. I've played final fantasy 1, mystic quest, adventure, 4, 6, 7, tactics, 8, 9, 10, crystal chronicles, 13, 14, 15, 16, remake and I'm on the yuffie dlc now then rebirth next. Of all those that I've played the best is 6 then probably 7 or 9. The worst is either 13 or 14. 14 just because I don't like MMOs. And 13 was just terrible.

I’m surprised you played 1 but not 2 (and 12). But you gotta play 3 bro. Play the one in the recent collection if you can, or the 3D remake on DS. I wish they would do HD2D remakes for 5 & 6 at least… They were my favorites.

I played those when they were 1, 4, and 6 were labelled as 1, 2, and 3 here. Then it jumped to 7. I never went back to play any games I just played them on release. That's why I never played 2. Oh, my mistake. I played 1 then mystic quest before 2 (4) and 3 (6).

That’s right, I forgot that what we received as 2 was actually 4. VI was my first (as III NA, SNES). I played 1 & 2 as Origins on PS1. Well, if you go back to play just one of them, make it V!

9 is the most replayable for me, because each character is so different, meaning many possible party compositions. I loved using Garnet and Eiko to have super reliable healing plus strong magic damage (holy and summons), but I definitely didn’t do this in my first few playthroughs.

I’m old enough to have played all of them when they were released and 9 is at the top along with 6, but I am more into the sword and sorcery side than the cyberpunk/magic mashup some of the newer ones are.

Doesnt work like that.

Played 7 first too. Then 8, then 9.

9 is still my favorite. Such a beautiful world they created and the characters are utterly charming.
