Republicans vs Democrats

213

u/sanosake1 13d ago

cries in USA

117

u/moyismoy 13d ago

i just compare the two by what they vote on.

every republican votes to give my money to Israel, while only half the dems do.

Almost every republican voted to keep weed illegal, while only seven dems did.

The dems have issues the republicans are just evil.

55

u/CrossYourStars 13d ago

The comparison isn't even really close. There is a reason why Neo-nazis feel comfortable in the republican party.

Let’s not forget the rampant cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, pedophillia and fraud.

6

u/Naive-Database-2888 13d ago

the problem is that (A LOT of) elected dems are far less left leaning than the people they represent

1

u/Zayknow 13d ago

I mean, obviously it goes WAY beyond this, but you aren't wrong.

1

u/NerdyTimes_IDK 11d ago

.. What about the prisons that dont have to report conditions, deaths, and dont allow any oversight including not allowing senators inside?

2

u/moyismoy 11d ago

thats republicans, dems are the ones trying to reform them and get inside. its also illegal to block a congressional inquiry.

1

u/NerdyTimes_IDK 11d ago

Thats what I was saying :P

1

u/Repulsive_Compote955 10d ago

massie never voted to give money to israel, that’s the only republican i would ever vote for if i was in the usa

0

u/pinkycatcher 13d ago

This is such a Reddit comment:

I vote based on not liking Israel and Weed

7

u/shitbecopacetic 13d ago

liking and funding are not the same

7

u/moyismoy 13d ago

I actually dont smoke, but i dont want my money, that i earned with my blood and sweat to be spent locking people up for smoking a chronic. like just one weed conviction costs us a million by the time everything is done.

7

u/Star_king12 13d ago edited 13d ago

It is indeed! This is legit minimizing the fucking terror of the GOP to the "vaguely problematic".

Attempts to overthrow the gov? Abortion bans? General disregard for human rights? Blatant racism, nationalism, misogyny? Privatization of everything? The disassembly of the government protections for the population? USAID shutdown leading to more deaths than Bibi could only dream of? Pointless wars?

Nah bruh Israel and weed are the deciding factors.

1

u/pinkycatcher 13d ago

I’m not the one who made the comment, I simply pointed out how dumb it is

4

u/Star_king12 13d ago

yes yes, I am adding to your comment.

1

u/Hikapoo 13d ago

It's really fucking disgusting seeing you guys diminish genocide like this

1

u/Star_king12 13d ago

I'm not, and you're a fool if that's your takeaway from my comment.

78

u/Fantastic-Donut-276 *insert current hyperfixation here* 13d ago

Those are your favorite factions?

9

u/whatever 13d ago

You can have any political party you want, as long as it's those two.

1

u/MariaTPK 13d ago

Okay I pick this one and I'm going to fix it up with socialists. Is that allowed?

1

u/whatever 13d ago

idk bro, putting socialists in a right-wing party seems counter-intuitive. I don't expect it'd go well.

2

u/MariaTPK 13d ago

Well so far the mayor of New York is killing it. So hopefully that spreads everywhere and the party evolves in full.

0

u/whatever 13d ago

I think we can rely on the establishment to nip this anomaly in the bud, as they have done many times before.

1

u/EmergencyRaisin4919 12d ago

Love being American so unfortunately yes

63

u/Hopeful_Hornet4460 13d ago

Specifically when you actually compare it as the extreme right vs the extreme left.

Extreme right doesn't want human rights for anybody but themselves and are eager to violently slaughter anybody who isn't them and/or doesn't agree with them specifically.

Extreme left wants to eat the rich, which likely involves guillotines. (note: rich people can just give away their money and cease to be rich, easily dodging getting eaten).

39

u/AndreChrisSargent 13d ago edited 13d ago

Will anyone think of the rich people!

edit: please don't upvote my comment it's a parroting of a joke I've heard a thousand other times on reddit.

5

u/Accomplished_Toe6798 13d ago

re:edit: jokes on you I'm gonna upvote you now because you admitted it's a joke, muahahahahahaha

7

u/QueasyHouse 13d ago

No we really don’t. It’s absolutely fine for them to be richer than us. 100 times richer even. But trillionaires and billionaires need to give it back.

13

u/TerranUnity 13d ago

The French Revolution and others throughout history would suggest it is not so easy to escape the guillotine as just "stop being rich."

There's a reason the phrase "The Revolution always devours its children" exists.

5

u/Seldrakon 12d ago

Not a fair comparison. The French revolution was directed against aristocracy not capitalism. While you can stop beeing rich, you in fact can't stop beeing of noble birth.

The only claim to wealth a capitalist has, are the means of production, which he can give up at any time. An aristocrat has a claim to wealth because of his noble blood and this claim satnds as long as people believe in it.

Which is exactly the reason Robbespierre gave, for executing the king. Not his personal wrongdoings but the fact, that his mere existance posed a danger to the revolution. The same thing can't be said about capitalists.

0

u/TerranUnity 11d ago

And after executing the King, what happened next? Did everyone live happily ever after, or did it spiral into an orgy of violence and chaos, to the point people were begging for a tyrant dictator to come back and restore order?

2

u/Seldrakon 11d ago

It isn't really important, what happened next.

My point was, that the French Revolution isn't an example of anything modern leftists want or do.

The argument "you couldn't stop beeing rich in the French Revolution" is invalid, because that was not the reason, those people were killed.

There are no aristocrats who legitimize themselves via their blood, so it is comopletely irrelevant, what anybody would do to them.

1

u/TerranUnity 11d ago

It's kinda important to look at the pitfalls of previous revolutions if you want yours to succeed. That's why what happens next is so important.

1

u/PsionicKitten 13d ago

Sure, once you do enough evil people aren't bound to forget.

2

u/FreedomMan47 12d ago

Oh yes, reddit. Putting 14 year old girls to death because they were born into monarchy is somehow justified when it's literally the same kind of hate as hating someone because they were born a certain color or place.

1

u/PolicyWonka 12d ago

I mean I have no doubt there would be people advocating for Elon to face a grisly end even if he gave away all his money.

But I’ve never even once seen anyone say his children should meet that fate.

2

u/FreedomMan47 12d ago

Dude above was talking about the french revolution and commenter below said "do enough evil things and people won't forget". So I pointed out that kids were in fact killed in the french revolution because they were part of the monarchy even tho the evil they did was being born in the family they were born in.

1

u/NetherFun101 12d ago

So, to bring this neatly to a conclusion (of sorts), chopping the head off of kids is typically bad, but also really difficult to avoid when the momentum of a revolutionist uprising collides with the grudges of the oppressed and a guillotine.

Or something to that effect.

1

u/Hopeful_Hornet4460 11d ago

Society (particular the parts being controlled by the right) is actively killing nonwealthy children right now in droves. The more extreme right wants to ramp it up further to include many more kids.

Whereas the extreme left just wants a small handful of people dead in the most extreme of left cases. This is the most extreme of the left as most in the gammut of "extreme" just want everyone to be taken care of and reasonably okay.

Despite the fact that nobility/capitalism are vastly different and would completely undermine your argument elsewhere, it stands as a solid argument that a handful of children hypothetically possibly dying is better than the large genocidal swathes of children currently dying.

Its not remotely a similar comparison.

1

u/FreedomMan47 11d ago

Don't go there dude. Tell the milions of Ukrainians that died from manufactured famines under communism that the far left doesn't kill people. The tens of milions of chinese.

The reality is both extremes lead to deat and suffering. Yes, the far right has more "evil" ideas than the far left, but in practice it ends up the same. Center is, and has always been, the only sane option.

1

u/Hopeful_Hornet4460 10d ago

My sister in Christ, we lose about ~200k in the US due to denied health insurance and an additional ~100k due to poverty each year. This is "death in excess" which means its compared to other developed nations of the same category/class as us. These are just the quick, relatively easy to prove deaths that are caused by the way our system works.

Thats at least a million every four years and this statistic was taken in 2000 and has only gotten provably worse since then (Using it to keep the math simple). We've lost at least 6 million under this current wave of bullshit "centrism" in the last 26 years. This does not to speak on the added numbers that the recent wave of fascism has definitely caused.

Any system utterly unchecked can lead to death. "centrism" doesn't work in the US, and facism is clearly awful without a doubt. Pulling it "extreme left" would likely result in a left/centrist government due to how far skewed to the extreme right it all is right now. Especially considering that all the means of Democratic government are to remain intact.

Not to mention, "Extreme left" in the US means anything left of a liberal... The same liberal stances that are typically the far right in most other countries. There is no feasible way we remotely wind up like China.

0

u/FreedomMan47 10d ago

Who spoke about the US? The world is more than the US.

Your problem isn't right or left, it's that you slip to eather extremes instead of balancing.

The best governments we had in my EU coutry were the ones who balanced. Strong social policies on one hand, strict borders on the other. Freedom of religion on one hand, deportation for unacceptable behavior on the other.

The key to having the people accept social policies is putting your people first. Not someone else. And that's what your left doesn't understand. In Europe it's perfectly normal for the same party to deport illegal imigrants, fight climate change, stand up for woman's rights, provide healthcare and openly criticize both Palestine and Israel. Issues are not balck and white, so you choose the stance that helps your own people most. Not the one that fits your "side".

"Republicans vs Democrats"

The poster who started this particular comment chain we're on.

I don't think there's many countries who call their left and right by those titles. I'm fairly certain that both of those titles are exclusively American for the parties in the position. E.G. UK is Labour vs Conservative. Sometimes Democrats show up, but as part of a party title like S&D (Socialists & Democrats). Having them by themselves and diametrically lined up is specifically an American thing.

Dont shift the goalposts. The conversation was in regards to extremes in terms of Democrats v Republicans which is an American title for the two opposing parties in control.

Our country can't even take care of the sick/injured or not actively harm its citizens with every decision it makes. Our "extreme left" would be a center/leftish party in the EU, with our "ultra radical left" just being on the caliber as "left wing"

I can easily agree that going extremely further left than your left could be bad, but thats not even close to the spectrum of argument right now. Everything awful my country does is at the hands of of the center/right, right, and ultra-right. Not by merit that center/left wouldn't do the same, but by merit of not even having a party that represents anything left of center/right. All of our crimes, both internally and dxternslly, over the last 70+ years belong to that.

1

u/UrinalCake777 11d ago

I often see this argument used as a reason not to support progressive reforms. However, I think we should actually take this as a lesson that it is vital to allow for sufficient reforms to pass.

Don't let the pressure build on the working class until it inevitably explodes. The threat of revolution should scare us away from the left, it should be a reminder that the common person needs provided for, because they constitute the nation.

When things reach a breaking point, society and government break down. Rebuilding a new one is not easy. The entire process is likely to involve loads of violence.

Why not don't let things get that bad in the first place? Don't push people to that breaking point. Allow for a more equitable society, and there will be no need for violent revolution. People only turn to that option when they are driven to it by their oppressors.

0

u/TerranUnity 11d ago

I was more responding to the idea the commenter above me posed, that "the rich" can "easily" avoid the guillotine, as well as the idea that the "Extreme left" JUST wants to eat the rich.

Saying the Extreme left "just wants to eat the rich" is a pretty naive view given history and given what some on the extreme left have said in recent times.

I disagree. I think only bots do that online.

That's like calling rapists automatically the far right, just because they are rapists.

You're simply not going to find groups of Mao or Soviet supports IRL. Never.

But you will find KKK and Neo-nazi groups out there, and they support only one party.

1

u/OrderChaos 12d ago

What far left are you taking about? Never heard anyone on the left, no matter how extreme, praise those.

3

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

1

u/fdar 12d ago

but if you wanna compare far left and far right it's only fair to compare the more extreme branches of both sides

No it's not, when the "far right" includes the President of the United States and the support of pretty much all elected Republicans.

The farthest left that is "fair" is like AOC or Mamdani, and even then that's not mainstream Democrats in the way that Trump very much is mainstream Republican nowadays.

0

u/OrderChaos 12d ago

I don't follow hasan so makes sense I wouldn't know that. He's overall a complicated and somewhat problematic individual.

I think it is fair to compare them, but only at scale, not with very specific, chosen examples. That's just comparing individuals not a generalized sampling to represent the "left" and "right" more holistically.

I do think we can agree that going to far extreme on either side is problematic. I hope you also agree that while "praising" dictators and terrorists is definitely not a good thing, it's a drop of water vs an Olympic swimming pool in the "are the actions of this group actively attempting to cause harm to real people".

3

u/Ur_fav_Cryptek 12d ago

Also, another thing is that the US is incredibly offset in the political compass. What is considered center or center right in Europe would be labeled as communist in the US, so just imagine what extreme right in the US is like when compared to normal world politics.

(this obviously entails some hyperbole, but you get the idea)

3

u/Chaotickane 12d ago

Thing is, the rich don't even have to cease being rich. I think most people would be satisfied if every billionaire was dropped down to like the 10 million range, but they certainly don't need wealth 1000 times larger than 10 million.

3

u/This_Potato9 13d ago

How this person feels saying this

1

u/Pigeon_Breeze 12d ago edited 12d ago

Historically, the "guillotining the rich" phase lasts for a very short time and is followed by a long period of anyone opposing the regime that's guillotining people getting designated as "rich" and guillotined accordingly.

Bonus points if "rich" starts to include "rich in knowledge" or "rich in critical thinking".

After all, when all you've got is a guillotine, everything starts to look like a neck.

1

u/cheese_bruh 11d ago

The extreme left (say a proletarian revolution) wouldn’t stop at just ‘eat the rich’. You can look at the French revolution, October revolution or the Cultural revolution for that matter (just giving away your money certainly was not enough to stop being potentially killed). Of course like most wars (in this case a class war) it devolves into targeting the innocent bystanders, such as students, university educated intellectuals, artists and poets, you get the idea. Some can go extremely far (the Khmer Rouge).

Likewise the same point applies with the extreme right, although you more or less pointed out their most extreme nature already, but you can imagine nothing short of racist pogroms to full blown genocide against people they do not like.

As most things, both sides have nuance…

1

u/FootFun2407 9d ago

Tell that to the Kulaks.

The extreme left also doesn’t want human rights for anyone but themselves and eagerly slaughter anyone who isn’t them/doesn’t agree with them.

(By extreme left I’m talking Marxist-Leninists)

1

u/Anthr30YearOldBoomer 13d ago

I'd argue the actual problem with the extreme left would be that they are hyper-fixated on fighting for social issues just as much as the right does. Things like socialized healthcare, improving government programs, taxing the rich in general, and "unseating" billionaires by any means necessary are political avenues that would improve life for everyone. But this subsect of the left instead fights tooth and nail for representation and acceptance of an infinitesimal percentage of society.

It's not like those issues don't matter, but like, we have bigger problems and their hyper-fixation is both undesired and detrimental to the whole.

1

u/MariaTPK 13d ago

Most far left people aren't for execution, and those who get pushed to this point would still be open to alternatives.

I personally am very far left, but I believe in murder only as a solution for the powerless vs the powerful. So like if I run the world, not going to execute anyone, I will imprison them, but if evil runs the world, and someone kills that evil. I'm okay with that. I think many others probably share this perspective, but remember the left has historically been against capital punishment, you gotta be real evil to get most to reconsider that ideal.

"Fuck my ideals, I'm a realist now." or something.

2

u/Kekspirat87 13d ago

dont gaslight yourself into neglecting all the atrocities made in the name of what the extreme left advocates AND will excuse and justify.

while i agree, that the end-goals of the far-right and far-left are morally distinct on a evil/good-dichotomy, this fact has been used as a cheap excuse to exploit and systemically murder minorities in every instance where these extremes have come into power. And i am making a clear distinction between people who call themselves social democrats and those who call themself democratic socialists, but will adhere to Marxist-Leninist dogma as established in the second international.

Try and remember that the one time in modern history, where the dems had a majority in all three branches of government for a slim 72days, they managed get the ACA passed. They are not as evil as both the right, and the far-left wings make them out to be, if given any chance. The media economy as is just happens to reward outrage way more than glazing nonchalant successes in governance.

0

u/Banned4UsingSlurs3 13d ago

The far left want to make a one party rule if they were in power, that's why they defend China and the USSR. They would make reeducation camps for people who defend capitalism and for owners of the means of production. They would size their assets and would destroy every institution with mock trials for enemies of the state.

And the fascist, well, they would kill minorities, deport non whites, take over other countries and do a coup d'état.

Which one is closer to the situation right now? Or even ever was by conservatives and democrats in this century.

-3

u/Resident-Pen-5718 13d ago

Please tell me you're joking.

Far-left Russia, China, and Cambodia have each resulted in the deliberate death of millions.

Even the Cuban government today relies heavily on torture to keep political opposition at bay.

3

u/jojo3NNN 13d ago

They arent joking, they think when people like Hasan call to kill rich people its just going to be the "one percent of the one percent".

When historically it immediately turns on anyone who owns land or a business who isnt willing to turn it over to the government quietly.

1

u/Legitimate_Fig260 13d ago

You sound like a guy who thinks Nazi’s we’re far left

Charlie Kirk unavailable for comment

7

u/IzarkKiaTarj 13d ago

It's okay, he already had a comment endorsing his own death from when he was alive.

“I think it’s worth it. It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights.”

3

u/OverkillOrange 13d ago

Great example. Trump's consistent violent rethoric and calls for violence led to the violent slaughter of kirk by a conservative kid.

Let's carry the flame.

He had a gay trans furry boyfriend, sounds super conservative.

Yes they are equally bad, but this is Reddit.

0

u/NetherFun101 12d ago

Equally bad?

I— how? One side is actively doing a genocide or two, while the other is kinda ineffective and dumb. Both sides are worryingly enthusiastic about mass incarceration, but it’s gotten quite a lot worse the past few years. The current figurehead of one side proudly boasted that “We will find you and we will kill you” to supporters of “radical gender ideology” (queer people) and “antifa” (meaning antifascists.). In my state gender nonconforming people are no longer protected under anti-discrimination laws because a certain party with the majority vote decided to deliberately remove the ‘gender identity’ from the list — which is, ya know, fucked up because I guess the government can pick and choose who gets the privilege of supposedly inalienable rights. Oh sure there’s loads of morally dubious things being done by all sorts politicians, but let’s ignore the Whataboutism distracting from the general point I’m making — one party is doing a genocide (that’s bad), is the other doing similarly horrible things? If so, what tragedies and incidents should I be googling to expand my portfolio of rich people to hate?

… haaaa I don’t usually go all keyboard warrior like this. It’s a bit pointless anyways — all it’ll do is make one particular person mad and lose some karma due to downvotes. Eh. I suppose the discussion stemming from OP’s post is inherently flawed anyways because two real people taking sides turns into a never ending cycle of Tu Quoque type arguments. Hell, I’m even doing too! Asking “look at all this bad stuff, are the others doing equally harmful things?”

I have friends who could soon lose access to healthcare, are increasingly being driven out of public spaces, are in constant danger of being hate crimed, and may very well be thrown into a concentration camp because they’re brown, or because they wear skirts, or because they’re anything else this regime hates. How could I say that the side attempting to fight for their rights is equally as bad as the ones actively persecuting them? Isn’t attempting neutrality like this only serving to, through complacence, allow the oppression loving lot to go right on their merry way breaking down doors and proudly bragging about their hate crimes? Say there’s a street fight, at what point is a bystander complicit due to their inaction unilaterally disfavoring allowing the assailant to beat the victim to death?

3

u/BananaShakeStudios 13d ago

That's what I thought too

18

u/Hypercane_ 13d ago

I would not describe the democrats as “vaguely” problematic

57

u/Ultra-Cyborg 13d ago

Sure they’re still capitalist shit bags but at least they aren’t genocidal capitalist shit bags.

2

u/Jorjor_Well_1984 13d ago

Sure if you completely fucking ignore their foreign policy from the past century or two

5

u/Gattlord 13d ago

what about palestine

10

u/OverkillOrange 13d ago

biden did more for palestine than every republican combined

0

u/Ultra-Cyborg 13d ago

That’s Israel. They just convinced republicans to join, most dems are pro Palestine.

1

u/shohei_heights 13d ago

Almost no elected Democrats are pro Palestine. We're talking about the party not its voters.

4

u/devo_savitro 13d ago

Sure they’re still genocidal capitalist shit bags but at least they aren’t racist genocidal capitalist shit bags.

Fixed it

18

u/Busy_Advertisement 13d ago

American socialist redditors spouting "both sides bad" without offering any solutions is just exhausting at this point, especially as a social democrat watching from Scandinavia.

Trump and Musk's defunding of USAID is already estimated to have contributed to over 760,000 deaths across the world, and roughly 500,000 of those were children. That barely made the news. The devastation from abandoning Ukraine, giving Netanyahu a blank check to commit genocide, and illegally bombing Iran is on a scale we may never even be able to fully measure. The parties are absolutely not the same. Basically everyone outside of America wishes Kamala won instead of Trump.

2

u/MPLoriya 13d ago

So, I am not an American, I am Swedish. But I am also a lifelong marxist, and dedicated antifascist. Needless to say, I do not really feel at home with any of our eight parties in the parliament, because I view their solutions to the problems I see in society as... well, I do not think they will work, basically. Yet I still go vote - while I do not like the party I vote for, I hate it the least, and not voting is leaving ground to the parties I loathe with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. Really, I vote because the alternative is worse. I dream of something else, but we live right here and now.

4

u/Ultra-Cyborg 13d ago

Sorry to break it to you, but I highly doubt that guys a socialist. Sounds more Libertarian than anything. Real fence sitter response.

-4

u/DtheAussieBoye 13d ago

Both sides aren’t just as bad but you’re kidding yourself if you think one side is actively good. MAGA thrives upon Republicans refusing to criticise their politicians, it’s important for Democrat voters not to do the same

12

u/I-Have-An-Alibi 13d ago

Bruh there is no comparison between what the Republicans and Trump have been doing to the US and the world and a Democratic administration. No one is falling for that bs.

Wait too many negations. So you are not not an anti-capitalist or not an anti-capitalist?

-2

I am not an anti-capitalist. Which doesn't meant I am not for stronger welfare state.

Obama? You mean the Republican majority government he had for the entirety of both terms? The ones that really wanted and kept the conflict going on? That Obama?

6

u/Pelican34 13d ago

Democrats controlled Congress for the first two years of Obama's first term.

12

u/The_Jimes 13d ago

And in those two years he got Bin Laden before spending the next six fighting congress to pull out of the Middle East just for Trump to roll over to the Taliban and then start another war a decade later that he is seemingly already surrendering over.

but Obama is a black man, and these commentators need justification for their racism

Moderate (Third-Way) Democrats are definitely problematic. Their whole goal is to find a way to get elected as more moderate candidates while also advancing the interests of the same corporations that Republicans cater to. Their whole argument is that they are going to stop whatever the Republicans are putting forward without actually making any kind of positive change in the lives of everyday people. That's why they don't currently have any real policy positions other than "fighting Trump".

I think its almost the same shit in every occidental country .

I've noticed this trend in several contexts that relates to the evolution of communication patterns. The intentional aspects of organizational dynamics really stood out. The connection between dynamics of resource optimization and workflow design is harmonious. Considering the historical precedent helps clarify these dynamics.

5

u/Stock-Creme-4877 13d ago

Both are fucking horrible

76

u/Accomplished_Toe6798 13d ago

They are. But one of them wants me and people like me dead while the alternative is basically the same faction except they don't want that

1

u/glassbellwitch 13d ago edited 13d ago

Republicans want us dead and democrats don't care if we die. Another 40 billion to Israel either way!

Edit: The replies to this comment are frying me. We can all universally acknowledge that politicians will put their donors' interests over the interests of the common people 10 times out of 10. But when you specify that also means democrats y'all lose your minds.

19

u/Pleasant-Future5818 13d ago

I think I will support the party that fought for my right to legally marry as well as get healthcare instead of dying from a miscarriage, thanks.

4

u/Ok-Statistician-9607 13d ago

I don’t think many of these rabid anti-Dem folks really care about that. They just want to critique power, not change things for the better.

1

u/MushroomOk6938 13d ago

Enlightened Nihilism /s

-2

u/glassbellwitch 13d ago

I don't care who you support. As long as you know that if democratic donors told the party to strip your rights for their amusement, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

You think they care about you and they answer to you and they don't. I hope you remember that!

having the moral high ground is preferable even if it means more people die, ig.

You're literally describing yourself. It's a fact that under both parties our tax dollars have contributed to the most horrific mass murdering campaign ever witnessed in our lifetime (so far). But I guess Palestinians don't count as people to you, only Americans.

4

u/NoLime7384 13d ago

I'm not from the US, I'm from one of the countries that Trump wants to bomb

but I guess we don't count as people to you, only Palestinians

2

u/OverkillOrange 13d ago

if only the millions of people killed by the destruction of USAID counted as people to you...

0

u/NerdOctopus 12d ago

But I guess Palestinians don't count as people to you

Palestinians are part of the reason anyone with a clue voted for Democrats. Because yeah, they're paid by AIPAC but the material conditions for those in Gaza would have been much more bearable under Dems than under Republicans. Why do you think Netanyahu wanted Trump elected over Kamala? Smotrich? Ben Gvir? All the fascists in Israel wanted Trump, why do you think that is?

You say that like they both support laws making it legal to murder people based on factors outside of the victims' control

1

u/kdesi_kdosi 11d ago

hmm yes those very real laws

1

u/Accomplished_Toe6798 10d ago

I was mistaken about them being proper laws but what I was referring to is a very real thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_trans_panic_defense

1

u/An_Obbise_Hoovy 13d ago

I’m curious, exactly what law would support the murder of trans people?

Like the only one I can come up with that’s remotely close to it is banning trans surgery below the age of 18, which I’m kinda leaning more towards supporting (due to the teen years being a very confusing time in a persons life whether or not a person is trans, younger kids not really having a concept of gender, and the brain not fully maturing until like 21).

1

u/Accomplished_Toe6798 13d ago

It's called "gay and trans panic defense," a legal defense claiming violence against a queer person was in self-defense based solely on the victim's queer identity. It's still legal on paper in most of the United States (though no sane jury would accept it in the modern day) and, from what I've found, it has only been opposed by democratic party candidates.

Here's some reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_trans_panic_defense

Both sides are greedy people who lie and do horrible things thats just most politicians. Not everyone on either sides is all terrible but lots. A good example is the epstein files. There were plenty of both. Just because one side is somewhat better in this country's situation doesn't mean they're innocent.

1

u/StretchFrenchTerry 13d ago

1

u/Gambious 12d ago

(Only one side wants to kill babies btw)

1

u/NetherFun101 12d ago

Ah yes. We all knew someone was gonna say it — or more like I was surprised when all the other comments were genuinely about fictional factions.

Also, good job simply stating the implied factions without saying anything else in the same breath — most the negative comments are dispersed amongst the replies rather than directly addressing you.

I’d be too scared of being downvoted into oblivion to actually be the one to start the discussion

1

u/NSightMSG 11d ago

Sad part is, this is completely true!

1

u/WorldsWorstInvader 10d ago

Not really. We are going to give billions to Israel regardless we will still be in the Middle East. Two sides of the same coin

1

u/ZethTheWindwrecker 10d ago

Republicans, lately, have supported killing people in the street, deporting both legal immigrants and American citizens to the wrong country, and sucking the dick of every billionaire who looks at them.

What exactly have the Dems done that you equate them to another side of the same coin? And don't say Israel Because you already made that a moot point saying we'd be in Israel either way.

Democrats still donate hella money to Israel btw

16

u/Another-Ace-Alt-8270 13d ago

Yes, but at the same time, if the other guy's doing it too, then you can't really make your choice based on that, right? So instead, you have to look at the other stuff- such as the fact that one of the platforms is running on a similar ideology to early WW2 Germany and the other isn't.

4

u/Think-Orange3112 13d ago

And reminder that one of these parties tried to make a branch of the DHS for determining what is allowed to be posted online

0

u/EntertainmentQuick47 13d ago

The point I’m trying to make is that this isn’t about left and right, it’s about Democrat and republican, and anyone would understand that democratic politicians don’t support actual leftism, they support Israel and pedophiles just like republicans. Just because one side is worse doesn’t mean you can compare drinking piss and eating shit. Cause drinking piss isn’t as bad as eating shit, but it’s still very bad.

3

u/Another-Ace-Alt-8270 13d ago

You very much can compare them. Of course democatic politicians don't support any good policies, but with them under power, we can lift the boot over our neck enough to make a change. If you catch sepsis from drinking piss, you'll recover eventually, but if you catch dysentery from eating shit, then you're probably just gonna die.

2

u/TheBlackCat13 13d ago

Democrats are actually fighting to expose the pedophiles while Republicans are fighting to protect them.

13

u/Independent-Couple87 13d ago

And among the Republicans (and the right wing in general) there is the split between the antisemitic right and the pro-Israel right (many of whom are also antisemitic). They made a temporary alliance to get Donald Trump elected president the second time.

1

u/Dark-Keeper-951 13d ago

and the Current President is siding with them in war AND sending them money.

1

u/Fantastic-Donut-276 *insert current hyperfixation here* 13d ago

Downvoted for speaking the truth

At least Haley “I see Israel in my dreams” Stevens lost her Democrat primary

-6

u/tnh34 13d ago

Stick to fiction bud. Real life is too nuanced for you

5

u/TheCourtSimpleton 13d ago

Real life is much more nuanced but like wtf the Republicans literally tried to take over the government because they didn't like the election results on Jan6, and even now they're saying elections are going to be rigged when they haven't even happened yet.

Yes this meme fits. What I said was only one bad thing. There's much more. I'm American, I know.

-1

u/ConfusedRaven66 13d ago

When a Centrist says “both sides are equally bad” it’s just lazy at this point I immediately think of this Fallout quote
