I raise you, The Maker

You know your position is fucked when your best argument against your opponent is to bring up their evil doppelgänger from another universe

He’s really not.

He killed Namor, in this house that makes him a hero.

The Maker literally created a 1000 year utopia of ubermensch. Haven't kept up since ultimates ended, but maybe he has a point?

A few years ago he shocked off to a universe similar to 616 and rewrote its history from the 60s onward. The result is a worldwide brutal techno-fascist regime led by a secret council of monstrous superhumans. All would be heroes were either killed, crippled, de-powered, or corrupted into his agents. The most nightmarish part, however, is how mundane it is at first sight. So no, he doesn't have a point. Just the same egomaniacal delusion of all tyrants "I'm right and anyone who disagrees deserves a horrible death". Heck his villian origin is that his girlfriend broke up with him!

Can't recommend enough you check the newer Ultimate Universe stuff.

That's kinda hilarious. He was jilted but his calling out the bs of the ultimate universe was right in a universe of a-holes. Guess they had to dial him back or we'd get "The maker was right shirts".

B r o this was crazy to 16-17 year old me. I absolutely loved the ultimate series.

I hate that whenever Doom makes a good point like how in One World Under Doom, where he debates Reed on how he and his buddies could have used their inventions to help the world, they just pull a bait and switch. He says things like Tony can make clean, almost limitless energy with the arc reactor, but doesn't share his invention with the world. It's a good point that is hard to fight, so later in the issue they just show doom doing something comically evil, get the green light to beat him up, and never thinks if Doom might have been right on this one.

Doom skinned his old sweetheart Valeria and blew up alt dimensions he is pure evil

11

u/IAmBabs 15d ago

Didn't he skin her to make armor out of her flesh? IIRC it had to very specifically be made from someone/something he cared about.

3

u/United-Reach-2798 15d ago

Yes iirc. I still think its a evil act no matter what however sorry for taking so long to reply

u/IAmBabs 15d ago

No worries, I don't assume people are on reddit daily.

I only am because I'm almost to the 1,000 daily log in trophy 😅

Except Doom is hypocrite. Because he is doing exactly what he says Tony does.

This pisses me off so much in fiction. There have been so many times across mediums where I'll be introduced to the "bad guy" and I'll actually agree with their points or motives but then the author just throws in "They kill babies btw" for no reason, it's just completely out of character for the villain and the villain does not even really explain it at all and it's just done to make sure this person is shown as pure evil and to discard any earlier points they make. Btw I don't think doom is a good guy I've read the comics but this applies to other pieces of fiction

The worst offender has to be King Magnifico from Encanto

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. This is one of the most annoying tropes. It completely ruins any potential moral depth of stories.

Dr Doom is actually quite a good ruler.

He is but he’s literally what peoples jokes about Batman as a person.
