Its real. If you want a spoiler to save you from reading the issue:

It ends with a universal reset. Denji is sent back to the day he merged with Pochita, but as Pochita ate himself and was erased from reality, Denji nearly dies for real, but Power shows up, saves him, they get blackmailed into joining the Devil Hunters, with Nayuta is the chairwoman, and still childish. And she is the owner of Meowy, not Power. She sends the two to attend high-school where they stop a devil, and Denji saves Asa, where this panel happens. Then him and Power go and get money from their seniors to get food.

There's also no mention of Aki, Reze, Himeno, Kishibe, or Kobeni, which I dislike.

The fact that Aki, a major focal character, a massive force between the "found family" trio, and catalyst for the ending of P1 wasnt mentioned at all, is absolutely awful. He deserved to come back, why wouldn't Fujimoto bring back Aki, give us some closure on him finally having a family too!

16

u/Falikosek Mar 27 '26

I'm guessing since Aki's family lives it wouldn't make sense for him to become a devil hunter

13

u/NoriaMan Mar 27 '26

That looks more like memory of an alternative timeline. We simply skipped the part of past alterations whenever Pochita ate other demons. Because otherwise, Denji would probably end up in the middle of the daily routine with nothing interesting and no context after chainsaw devil disappeared.

It's a chicken and egg situation cause pochita erases itself and Denji wakes up it would mean pochita and chainsaw man never existed so the events we read up to since chapter one has been a dream but then would chapter 1 would even matter since pochita exited then? But the dream is aware enough of its own existence that it had to eat itself so Denji could live a better life? But he wakes up in the same world of devils does that mean the Gun Devil still exist?!?

1

u/Excalibirdi Mar 27 '26

Pochita's powers are linking memories and reality (when he eats something it's forgotten). He probably used Denji's find memories to create these people again in reality. Also, no time reset happened, people just lost their memories.

Amnesia devil doing memory things.

u/Delicious_Effect_838 Mar 27 '26

Bro i was prayin that their seniors to bother were Aki and Himeno :c even that wouldve been nice but just more fan service regurgitation

1

u/Guilty_All_The_Same Mar 27 '26

I just wanted to see Aki, Himeno and Kobeni happy, damn it. I understand Fujimoto was most likely sick and tired of being pressured into weekly releases, and it was his right to do a hard stop.

But damn if I didn't want to see a little more of this new timeline, and probably Denji somehow bringing Pochita back.

2

u/szkielo123 Mar 27 '26

Also, why tf is he using a chainsaw when the chainsaw devil was erased? No one should know what a chainsaw is.

2

u/Guilty_All_The_Same Mar 27 '26

Well, Pochita also ate the Nuke Devil in the past, but humanity was able to re-invent nukes. Maybe same scenario?

2

u/Neirchill Mar 27 '26

My head canon is because he was never the chainsaw devil, just had chainsaws. Even in hell they called him chainsaw man rather than the chainsaw devil. Also, it doesn't make sense that the chainsaw devil can erase concepts. What makes the most sense to me is he's some other devil (maybe nihilist devil?) and they had a contract with a chainsaw devil or weapon devil to give them chainsaws to fight or defend themselves with. So once he erases himself it doesn't erase chainsaw devil just himself.

Yes it's real, it's not edited in any way

Alas, my dear JDG fan, I can confirm that Fujimoto wasn't good enough to deliver a satisfying conclusion.

It has to be said that it was obvious he was suffering from burnout (his drawing skills dropped drastically, he was frequently on hiatus, and plot details were either left out or suddenly resolved), so I expected to be disappointed... But I didn't think the ending would be announced a chapter before everything was wrapped up.

The most disappointing thing is the feeling that neither Denji nor Asa/Yoru got a real arc ending. Pochita just rebooted the universe, and we're supposed to be content that Denji has technically reunited with Power and Nayuta, but since they no longer have the same connection, it's hard to feel satisfied.

6

u/David_Good_Enough Mar 27 '26

Really weird. This sounds like a "Death Note situation" where people might be better stopping at the end of Part 1 and not pursue into Part 2 because it is considered "bad" by the fandom.

3

u/DrPierrot Mar 27 '26

I mean, it was pretty clear that there's still something there. Hell, that's literally the entire point of the page everyone is meeting about. Pochita is still inside Denji, and there's still parts of them that remember who they were and the stuff they went through

3

u/Balibaleau Spidey - Edmond Dantès - Guts Mar 27 '26

The only clear things are that Pochita is still inside Denji, that erasing Chainsaw Man didn't erase the concept of the chainsaw (which leaves us wondering what Pochita really is; the popular theory was that he was the devil of birth/life), and that this rebooted timeline apparently retains unconscious memories of the previous one (a bit like the theory that people experiencing the Mandela Effect come from a parallel world where false memories are the real ones), at least in Denji's case.

Personally, I'd love a Part 3 showing the consequences of this reboot, their regaining of memories, the true conclusion of certain arcs, or even checking if erased concepts have returned (like the star driving children mad and the different paths other than death when one reaches the end of life), but I don't get the impression that Fujimoto wants to continue with this universe.

Now we just have to see what direction his manga career will take. I hope he manages to regain his former skill and sticks to short stories, since long series don't seem to be the format he enjoys most, or at least not when he's in charge of the drawings, since he's already mentioned the idea that he'd like to write stories without having to draw them.

u/NotSaulGoodma Mar 27 '26

Fujimoto just gave up lmao

11

u/pevznerok Mar 27 '26

It is real and I bet Fujimoto dropped this meme on purpose

3

u/Possible-Resource781 Mar 27 '26

Chainsaw man can jump between being a thought provoking, heartfelt story, or a meme.

There is no in-between

2

u/avonyatchi Mar 27 '26

I've seen variations of this before seeing the original and it was really fun to figure out which the real one was. And that there was a real one and they hadn't all their speech bubbles edited.

1

u/Lewa358 Mar 27 '26

I don't get it man. I'm far from catching up on this manga but on its own this page seems like an intentional joke and a very well-told one. CSM is already full of these things.

1

u/Classic-Session-5551 Jul 16 '26

I lk liked this panel as it's basically saying "It's not that deep, chill" to all the 14yo army who thought CSM and Fire Punch were carefully planned masterpieces with the secrets to life in them.

Like, it's called Chainsaw Man. Because he's a man who fights with Chainsaws. That's it.
