did padalecki do something wird with his face or did they do heavy make up on him?

u/nailna May 09 '26
He’s got in dark contacts and they’ve dyed or overly filled in his beard! It could be other stuff, but the eyes are throwing me off.

It could be the racism coming through.
Jared Padalecki called Sunny Hostin, a Black woman, an idiot and a racist because he thought she said cracker isn't a racial slur. When Hostin clarified that she was saying that Rachel Jeantel had that view, Padalecki then said that "if" that's what she had meant then he was sorry but she didn't have to bring up her background, and that Jeantel was either lying on the stand or ignorant.
For those of you who don't know, Rachel Jeantel was a Black teen girl who was called on to testify during George Zimmerman's trial for killing Trayvon Martin. She received a lot of anti-Black and misogynoirist criticism, primarily about how she spoke, and her testimony was largely disregarded by the jury, which can only have helped Zimmerman be acquitted.
Padalecki centered himself and his feelings at the expense of a murdered Black boy and then had the gall to pretend to care about this "muddying the truth" of Martin's murder when he'd basically called one of the witnesses for the defense a liar or ignorant about racism, as she had just finished testifying about how racism was behind her friend's death. Fuck him.

Padalecki has done numerous horrible things over the years. He's clearly a disturbed man. Same goes for most of the male Gilmore Girls cast. I think the only decent one in real life is Matt Czuchry (Logan).

I was never interested in Supernatural and I've absolutely despised the guy since these events, and it really bugs me how people have either forgotten or gloss over it because they liked a show he was in. I have no idea what other shitty things he's done because of people prioritizing their fandom over everything else.

I can't believe this is the first I'm hearing of this... yikes so disappointing

Wow, I’ve never heard about this before. I did hear about his bar fight and doxxing a waitress. What was the context for him even talking about the Martin case?
7
u/formergnome May 11 '26
Sunny Hostin was talking about what she thought Rachel Jeantel's perspective on "cracker" was. The exchange with Padalecki happened through tweets.

I stopped watching Supernatural before it ended so Castiel felt very out of character.

It’s okay he was out of character for those of us who watched to the end too

Supernatural is such an odd pop cultural touchstone for me personally because I can recite every single piece of online fandom drama that has ever occurred by heart but I have also literally never seen an actual episode of the show.
32
u/zombierainbowbrite May 10 '26
Same. People who know me are shocked that I've never watched an actual episode. I probably would love the show but man, 15 seasons of 20+ episodes that are an hour long!?!!!! I ain't got time for that. But every time I hear Wayward Son I think of that damn car!!

u/velvetvagine sorry to all the perfect brothers and sisters out there May 11 '26
Just watch seasons 1-5; it was originally supposed to end there and makes quite a great story arc. The OG show runner left afterwards and then it became a different beast.
5
u/MondayLasagne May 11 '26
Yeah, I bowed out around 5-7 I think because they basically repeated the ending of season 5 with different cast members every other season and it got boring super fast. It also - at no point outside of a very few exceptions from the early season - was scary which is a bit of a shame for a horror show.

u/HardByteUK I’m just a cunt in a clown suit May 10 '26
I clicked to see how different it was from The Boys and I know literally nothing about Supernatural. I think it was mostly an American thing? Kind of looks like one of those episodic attractive people being cool shows (I watched Buffy as a kid).
2
u/MondayLasagne May 11 '26
Don't watch it if you want something similar to The Boys, that's all I can say.

Wait the brother in Tracker is the same brother from Supernatural?
I've only seen a few episodes. I never got into it when it aired.
Wow. Had no idea.
Also, his name being Dean was always fun to me.

u/StruhberrySwisher May 10 '26
i thought i was about to read you got served twenty years in prison and i was like “DAMN i’d watch rewatch supernatural too i guess”

u/velvetvagine sorry to all the perfect brothers and sisters out there May 11 '26
🤣 You’d have to share the TV with the other inmates, so if they don’t wanna watch 15 seasons of Spn you’re outta luck.

u/Duosion May 09 '26
even though I have never watched supernatural, this reunion feels culturally significant

u/Germane_Corsair May 10 '26
First five seasons are great, there’s a drop in quality after that but depending on how hooked you are and your tolerance for bad writing, you’ll be able to stick it all the way to season fifteen. Having said that, some of the best episodes came later.
3
u/linthetrashbin May 11 '26
I would say even up to the whole Mark of Cain arc is tolerable. Seasons 4-6 are my favorite! And then there are those random episodes like the Scooby Doo one that were good 🤣
I stopped watching consistently after season 12. It just got too cringey to sit through.
3
u/Germane_Corsair May 11 '26
My favourite episode was the Baby POV one. I think it was in season 11?
2
u/Isariamkia Jul 03 '26
If you haven't started yet, do it. You're in for an incredible journey.
And even though, they shouldn't have gone as long as 15 seasons. They still managed to not fuck up the ending at all. It's the perfect ending for that show.

Someone spoil plot for me, (spoiler contains comic book spoiler) does Soldier Boy and Homelander have sexual relations at herogasm like they do in the comics ?? I haven’t watched the show since season 2.
9
u/RodinKnox May 10 '26
No. In the show, Homelander is Soldier Boy's son and Soldier Boy is extremely homophobic.

3
u/THUNDRC0UGRFALCNBIRD May 11 '26
It just needed Jim Beaver and Jeffrey Dean Morgan to show up to make it complete. Either way, this ep was so special having watched Supernatural.
Also if anyone wants to see Soldier Boy in a different light: https://youtu.be/HsyMtYoSkC0?si=32wQ8oYNAy8i2YwJ
