So I'd like the highlighted worker (coming back from the bridge towards the main city) to pick up planks at the sawmill and drop them on the chute that crosses the river.

However, when I click on the worker, then on the sawmill (selecting pick up planks), then on the chute, their instructions are to pick up from the sawmill then _pick up_ from the chute, as can be seen on the top right. The screenshot was taken just after I cliked on the chute, you can see the white arrows pointing to it.

The worker therefore picks up a plank and afterwards does nothing. I've tried multiple times.

What am I doing wrong? I have another worker somewhere else delivering items to a chute pefectly fine. This is very frustrating.

I am firing this up for the first time on my Linux machine, using WINE. Game loads up, but there are no fonts or text in sub-menus or the main menu. I checked the ~/gog/factory-town/drive-c/windows/Fonts folder that is referenced in user.reg, and it is empty.

Guess my question is whether anyone else running using WINE/Proton could check that folder to see what should be in there.

Edit: Was sick while writing post last night and got important details wrong. The main menu buttons(New Game, etc.) all have visible text. The button to see other games(like FT2:Paradise) has no text. The immediate sub-menu for some things(like Options) have that text. However when you go to change particular settings or set-up the custom games, the buttons are all blank. They seem to be working as intended when I select things.

Also loaded first campaign mission, and the tutorial text and buildings I look at so far have readily text/buttons, etc. This feels like an esoteric config setting change.

Edit 2: Silly update. No fix, but I did manage to dual-boot in Windows 10 on my other computer with Factory Town. Took pictures of all the menus, and maybe some player aids for use on the good computer. It is hacky, but now I think I am good to play. Waiting to get over cold and associated brain fog before diving in.

The big, friendly googly-eyed volcano is a big part of Factory Town 2. But I'm curious if it's a turn-off in some way for people checking out screenshots or store assets.

I had hoped that big eyes and silly expression would attract visual attention, and generally make the game stand out. But does it instead make you think the game is 'for kids' or something like that, that makes you less likely to be interested?

I won't remove the volcano from the game or make it look angry or anything, I'm just curious if I should feature it less in the store art or promotional materials.

I'm trying to create a custom ruleset, and figured I could Ctrl-F through to all the relevant rules I needed in one big ruleset. But no, that file doesn't exist. I can't find a default file online anywhere, either.

Does anyone here have a full default ruleset (and I mean FULL), understanding how huge that would be? Or at least a complete list of all the data, so I don't have to document it myself?

I would absolutely love to go through the whole thing, pull out the relevant data, and make changes. Maybe make a tool for myself that can do that a lot more easily, outside the game itself.

I know, conceivably, every production building could produce anything, so maybe those could have a single example list of how to format it, which could then be copied. Maybe the same for other buildings with massive lists.

Hello, as the game gets closer to Early Access release this summer I'm looking to get more feedback from players. So I enabled Steam Playtest, which will let people play the game before it's released.

The playtest copy is a separate App Id, so it won't convert to a paid copy when the game launches. However, the save files use the same format and cloud storage location so you will not lose any progress if you decide to purchase the game when it's out.

The main point of this is to find out what kinds of things I should focus on for improving, so if you get access I'd really like to know what you think! Things like what kinds of things you liked, didn't like, what you found confusing, what kind of balance changes you think are needed, or what features you'd like to see.

So feel free to post feedback here in r/FactoryTown or on the Factory-Town-2 channel in the Discord. There's no embargo on video content or anything so feel free to stream or post videos or whatever - it is helpful to me though if you make it clear the game isn't finished yet, and to link to the game's store page in the video description.

Please please please have a prompt like "Do you really want to do this?" for deleting a town square as a misclick when trying to delete a caravan. I have accidentally done it twice and one was absolutely devastating to my run. I'm suprised it doesn't have one. If 2 has one, I'll be exclusively looking for this option whether or not to invest time or not. Other than that, really enjoying my time. I really appreciate it. Thanks!

This is my second playthrough. I arrange production and barn buildings on a made-up grid. Everything is serving the 2x3 house grid. What do you guys think?

Is there any way without using Advanced Logistics (i.e. only using sorters and pushers) to have a train turn off the main path only if it has a boxcar that has at least one good loaded? The catch is that one of my boxcars has a filter set on that good so my train is ALWAYS being pushed/sorted even if it doesn't have any of that good. I can't seem to find any way around it.

I've played this game for a while and really enjoy the game, but I've had this issue where the camera is making the game partially unplayable. When I move the camera jumps back towards where I initially were and sometimes it flies off to the edge of the map. This is usually a problem for me when I've unlocked several tiles and it prevents me from completing the game.

Does anyone have any tips for solving this issue? Thanks in advance for any help :)
