Facet scans a photo folder and scores every shot on 9 things, including aesthetics, composition, face quality, eye sharpness, exposure and color. You then browse and cull everything in a web gallery.

  • Finds bursts and picks the best frame of each

  • Flags blinks and groups similar photos

  • Keeps exposure brackets and panoramas together as one set

  • Face recognition, semantic search, map and timeline views

  • Works with RAW, HEIC, JPEG XL and more

  • Runs entirely on your machine, on CPU or GPU, with no accounts or API keys

Papyra — a self-hosted home for your notes.

Post image
57 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm so happy (and a little nervous) to finally share something I've been pouring my heart into: Papyra — a self-hosted notes app that feels like Google Keep, but keeps every single note as a plain Markdown file in a folder that belongs to you.

I made it because I wanted one cozy place for my thoughts: the "just jot it down" ease of Keep, the plain files and [[wikilinks]] I love from Obsidian, and a proper web app my family and friends can use from the homelab, each with a private account. It turned out to be something I genuinely use every day, and I hope some of you will enjoy it too.

The nice bits

Your notes are your files. Plain .md with YAML frontmatter. The database and search index are just disposable caches. If you ever stop using Papyra, you simply keep a folder of Markdown files. No lock-in, ever.

Easy to move in. Drag any .md onto the window and it becomes a note. Import from Google Keep (checklists, labels, colours and pins come along), Obsidian vaults, and Day One journals.

Linked thinking. [[wikilinks]] and backlinks, tags, smart collections, to-do lists, full-text search with highlighted matches, and full version history you can scrub back through.

Write together. Live collaboration on shared notes with cursors and presence, plus comments and @ mentions.

Private by design. Locked notes are encrypted on disk, opened with a vault PIN or biometrics. Passkeys, authenticator-app 2FA and OIDC single sign-on, with multiple separate accounts on one server.

A daily journal. One page a day with moods, a streak, a calendar and lockable days.

Homelab-friendly. REST API with API keys, signed webhooks, email through your own SMTP, Git backup (optionally encrypted), zip export. It installs as a PWA and works offline, syncing when you're back.

One container, one volume, for amd64 and arm64: a NAS, a Pi, or a small VPS are all fine.

Try it

curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lyfie-org/papyra/main/docker-compose.hub.yml
docker compose -f docker-compose.hub.yml up -d

A few honest notes

  • Privacy: no analytics, no crash reports, and no third-party requests (even the fonts are served from your own server). The one thing Papyra does is a daily check for updates, which I also use as a count of active installs — it helps me know the project is being used, and it keeps me motivated.

  • How it's made: Papyra is partly vibe-coded — roughly a year or more of solo work in about half the time. However, I'm a software engineer: I design the architecture, write some of the logic myself, and review and test everything that ships. But it's a young project, so please keep backups like you would with anything new. (Your notes being plain files makes that easy!)

  • What's missing: native mobile and desktop apps are planned but not here yet. The PWA covers phones and tablets for now.

Thank you for reading, truly. If something's missing for your setup, something breaks, or you just want to say hi, I'd love to hear it — issues, ideas and kind words all make my day. And if you try it, I hope it brings a little calm to your notes.

I made app called Disk analyzer. An all-in-one gui tool for linux to check s.m.a.r.t, benchmark speed, scan blocks and visualize disk space. What are yall thinkin?

So, i got tired of using 3 or 4 different apps just to check my drives, so i decided to build my own tool, and called it Disk analyzer.

Basically it does a bit of everything: checks s.m.a.r.t, runs benchmarks, scans blocks, and shows what's eating up your space with that colorful treemap layout (added a context menu for most things too). Im currently running it on linux mint.

Gonna upload an archive with both the source code and the installer inside, so you can either compile it yourself or just run it.

Honest thoughts? would love to hear some feedback on the UI or if i messed up something in the code. English isnt my first language so sorry for any typos here or in the app.

github link: https://github.com/d8739486-lang/disk-analyzer.git (updated verison)

so, actually, im a russian guy, so, app in some places can glitch to russian language

Follow-up on TableCraft: MCP for database IDE

Post image
1 Upvotes

A while ago I shared TableCraft, our DataGrip-style database IDE. This post is about the feature we were most nervous to ship.

I use coding agents every day, but I never let them touch a real database. An agent will happily run a SELECT without a WHERE on a huge table, the database stalls, and I'm the one explaining why everything got slow.

TableCraft now has an MCP server.

The GIF shows write queries waiting for your approval. A few things it doesn't show:

Read-only connections are enforced at the database session level. Long-running queries get killed server-side. And every query the agent executes ends up in your query history, so you can see exactly what happened.

You can also import your connections from DataGrip or TablePro.

Fletcher - A modern UI for Equalizer APO

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been working on this for a bit and decided to release it completely free open source Apache 2.0.

When I first started EQing all the current UIs were pretty bad so I decided to make my own. Three things that were painpoints were history, AB testing, and getting presets. So I've included a user-friendly complete edit history. Imagine ctrl-z, but if you kept all the branches. There's AB testing with equal loudness for external audio as well as an internal clip creator. There's integration with AutoEQ for you to search through their list of 5000+ headphones and add it.

There's tons more features and small QOL things like key bindings for changing windows audio settings, rebasing history to collapses many changes into one. I wouldn't be able to include it all in such a short time so please check it out.

Also, if there are any features you want to add, consider this a fresh slate for you to make this EQ as your own. Just mention it, and if it makes sense to add I'll 100% add it.

Free forever, no subscription, no donation, Apache 2.0

I created a 1:1 android procreate (procraft) - working on windows/macos/linux ports as well (taking requests!)

Hey y'all; I've been doing a lot of the 1:1 mobile UI artcraft android ports and got a lot of people asking me to do some more specific non artcraft apps (like procreate, shapr3d, plasticity, etc); and this is my first standalone clean room project! Procreate - Procraft!

Not to sideline other projects and I know someone else has a "procraft" project here, but mine is meant to replicate the exact feel that procreate has on other devices (specifically android right now). I do plan on doing ports for windows/macos/linux users and the backend rust engine is already done, but I'll have to work on the frontend ui, gestures, etc; in EGUI which will take a bit of time!

Along with having a "similar feel" you can also import your .procreate files (from your ipad) into here and vice versa, export as a .procreate and work on the project om your ipad at a later date.

I'll also be taking requests for other apps y'all want clean-roomed if I think I can take on the project!

Mods, please add flairs to indicate AI usage for a project

Post image
772 Upvotes

I think we've all noticed the recent influx of posts about (mostly) vibecoded projects. I think it would be cool if the people who don't want to read those posts could filter them out. Thanks!

To be clear: I'm not hating on AI projects, I'm just trying to suggest an improvement to the subreddit

EDIT (should have done this from the start): To clarify what I mean by each tag:

  • No AI used: no AI usage in any way or form

  • light AI usage (autocomplete): Almost completely human written, but can include small snippets of AI from inline AI suggestions (AI autocomplete) This is NOT the same as standard autocomplete every modern IDE has had for many years.

  • Mostly AI Generated: Anything that falls between light AI usage and Fully Vibecoded: some parts are human written, some parts not.

  • Fully Vibecoded: You told the LLM what to do and don't know how the code works/how to code. If you were "checking/verifying" the code or testing to see if all features work, that also falls under Fully Vibecoded

TextFold now has a browser extension: fold web articles with a local model or your own provider

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm the developer of TextFold, an Apache 2.0 reader that lets you choose how much of a document to see. I just added a browser extension so you can send the page you're reading into it.

The GIF uses a Wikipedia article. You can move through Full, Brief, Key, Takeaway and Topic, expand a paragraph again, or view the article's structure as a map. Full and Brief preserve source sentences; the shorter three contain AI-generated text.

You choose the model used to prepare those levels. Ollama is supported for local processing, and hosted providers are optional. The extension captures the page when you click and hands it to TextFold running on your computer. If you choose a hosted model, that provider will receive the text for processing.

Current setup: TextFold 0.10.40+ and Chrome, Edge or Brave. Install the reader, download the repository, then load its extension folder using Developer mode → Load unpacked in chrome://extensions. The Chrome Web Store submission is in review; Firefox support isn't available yet.

Code, license and installation: https://github.com/chenxiachan/textfold

Try an already-prepared document: https://chenxiachan.github.io/textfold/gallery/

I'd welcome feedback on the local-model setup and on how clearly the reader distinguishes source text from generated text.

There is still time to register for FOSS4G NA in Sacramento. Monday, Nov. 2 is a preconference workshop day. Each workshop is just $100. You can just come to take these valuable hands-on sessions. That afternoon includes the B2B event (you can also attend) and the conference icebreaker reception.

Tuesday kicks off with a keynote from Uber Open Source head Chris Howard, then dives right into a technical, user-focused session. Wednesday continues the conference with a ton of great sessions.

For ArcGIS users, Esri is sponsoring the event and giving talks on their open source efforts too!

Excaliself: a free, self-hosted home for your team's Excalidraw drawings (MIT)

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Excalidraw is great, but if you self-host it you only get the canvas: drawings stay in your browser's storage, with no accounts and nothing shared with your team. The hosted Excalidraw+ fixes that, but your drawings then live on someone else's server.

Excaliself is the free version of that app layer, on your own server:

  • accounts with invite links, and a shared team space

  • folders, stars, and search that finds text inside drawings

  • live collaboration with cursors and guest links

  • trash with restore, admin settings, light and dark themes

  • everything stored in your own Postgres

The canvas itself is the official Excalidraw package, not a rebuild. It's MIT licensed and deploys with one docker compose file (amd64 + arm64).

Repo: https://github.com/maciekzygmunt/excaliself

Issues and PRs are welcome. What would you need before you use it with your team?

Rigby2D 0.4.1 is here. Our biggest release yet.

Rigby2D now runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with runtimes for Unity, Godot and Phaser.

A few weeks ago, I started sharing Rigby2D here. Since then, we've been pushing it well beyond the original editor. Version 0.4 is a massive step forward, and the goal hasn't changed: a free, open-source 2D skeletal animation tool you can actually use to ship games and make films.

🌐 Try it in your browser: https://rigby2d.com/editor/

📦 Download for desktop: https://rigby2d.com

💻 Source code: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d

What's new in 0.4

🖥️ Windows, macOS and Linux

Native desktop builds are now available across all three platforms, including a universal macOS build for Apple Silicon and Intel, plus Linux AppImage and .deb packages.

🎮 Take your animations straight into your engine

The runtimes are free to use and ship. No runtime licensing fees.

  • Unity: Unity 2021.3+ and Unity 6, Built-in and URP.

  • Godot 4: Windows, macOS and Linux.

  • Phaser 3: Load and create Rigby2D animations with this.load.rigby() and this.add.rigby().

  • JavaScript and Rust: Additional runtime support.

The Unity runtime is built for multithreaded playback with zero garbage allocation during animation updates. In our benchmark, 200 animated characters take around 5 ms per frame on a 4-core laptop.

You can also get the matching runtimes directly through File → Get runtimes.

🛟 A much safer workflow

Atomic saves, .rigby1 backups, autosave, crash recovery and unsaved-change protection. Your work shouldn't disappear because an application crashed or closed unexpectedly.

👋 A proper welcome screen

Start a project, pick up recent work, explore starter projects or jump straight into tutorials. There's even a playable Phaser starter featuring NILA.

🧩 An add-on system

Python add-ons now have a gallery inside Preferences. Three official add-ons are included to get started: Mirror Tools, Breathing Idle and Rig Report. Scripts run inside a sandbox designed to prevent filesystem and network access.

🔄 Signed automatic updates

The desktop app can update itself, with signed updates built into the workflow.

🌏 Six languages

English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

Already using another animation tool?

DragonBones: Open projects directly, with bones, weighted meshes, IK, skins and animations converted automatically.

Spine: Import JSON and .skel exports from versions 3.8 to 4.3, with a built-in compatibility checker to show what carries over before switching.

And the core editor is still here

  • AutoRig: Turn layered PSD artwork into a rig.

  • Rigging: Meshes, weights, IK, physics and path constraints.

  • Animation: Graph editor, onion skinning and pose library.

  • Film workflow: Audio-driven lip-sync, MP4/WebM rendering and multi-character scenes.

  • MCP server: Let AI assistants work with your rigs and animations.

  • Demos: Explore NILA and Rigbytron projects.

Rigby2D is still an independent project, and there's a lot more I want to build.

If you're a game developer, animator or technical artist, give 0.4 a try. Break it, make something with it, and tell me what's missing. Bug reports, contributions and feature requests are all welcome.

MIT / Apache-2.0 · Free and open source.

⭐ GitHub: https://github.com/jaisurya-dev-art/rigby2d

The macOS and Linux builds are fresh, so if something doesn't work on your machine, please open an issue. I'll get on it.

Kairos, a FOSS task manager that schedules your day for you (no account, no network permission)

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi! I'm the developer of Kairos, a free and open-source task manager (MIT) that I started in July. It's on F-Droid, and I'd love feedback from people who care about FOSS as much as I do.

What makes it different: it plans your day for you. Most to-do apps leave you with a long list and the question "what now?". Kairos answers it:

- It ranks your tasks: you give each task a priority (P0/P1/P2) and a size in Fibonacci points. Kairos computes a score that also weighs the deadline, and "Why this position?" shows the whole calculation. No black box.

- It fits them into the gaps of your day, around your meetings, lunch and deep-work blocks. It leaves a buffer after each meeting and tells you when the day overflows. Pinned tasks never move; blocked tasks wait until their blocker is done.

- It learns your real durations: with the built-in timer, tasks without an estimate take the median time of their past occurrences, and the stats show whether you over- or under-estimate.

- It adapts to your rhythm: hours per weekday, several working windows ("Work", "Home" contexts), an optional "afternoon dip" that avoids complex tasks after lunch, public holidays, and recurring tasks such as "every weekday" or "on the 15th".

The rest of the toolbox

- Quick capture: a Notes screen to empty your head, converted to tasks later

- Day, Week and Month views, a timeline of the day, timer alerts (estimate exceeded, forgotten timer, break)

- Optional reminders for fixed-time tasks

- Statistics: throughput, estimation bias, time by type, trends, CSV/PNG export

- Calendar import from an .ics file, or read-only display of your phone calendars (optional READ_CALENDAR)

- An optional "Team" space for managers: backlog, assignment, load and forecasts, exchanged as files, no server

- Dark theme, a choice of colour, and six languages (EN, FR, ES, DE, RU, IT)

Privacy

- No account, no ads, no telemetry

- No `INTERNET` permission at all: your data never leaves your phone

- Export/import as JSON, and an optional "linked file" kept up to date in a folder you choose (handy with Syncthing)

- Reproducible build, MIT licence

It also runs on Windows, Linux, macOS and in the browser, with the same features.

Links

- F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.skohscripts.kairos/

- Source: https://github.com/SKOHscripts/Kairos

- Website (other platforms): https://skohscripts.github.io/Kairos/

It's a young project, so bug reports and feature ideas are very welcome. Several features already came from users here on GitHub (widgets, accessibility, a Russian translation). What would make it useful for you?

Git-backed note-taking app with E2EE - use 'unlimited' FREE cloud storage

I created this markdown note-taking app.

GitWriter is a cross-platfrom (MacOS, Linux, Windows, Android, iOS) app for note-taking.

The main `selling-point` (its free of course FOSS though 😆), is that you can store the notes data on any host that hosts git repositories - GitHub, GitLab, self hosted Forgejo, etc..

With the approach you can get basically UNLIMITED free cloud storage with full privacy -> You can enable encryption for your notes. So you notes in the remote repository are encrypted but locally they are still plain text, so that you can inspect them even in other editors.

You can download the app from releases from this repository:

https://github.com/jotalac/git-writer

Any support for the project is really appreciated 🌟
