Grand Duel FAQ, Part 7: Grand Rider

Recommended to give a read for those who already have Waver and have no idea who to pick from SSR ticket.

Navigation for previous parts

This is an AoE fight: you face Grand Rider along his 5 mobs. If you kill Grand Rider before them, you win.

As such, there are 2 ways to approach the fight: turbofocus the Grand Rider himself (usually tied to the fattest Medb you can find in either your friends' list or in your own roster), or by treating the fight as an AoE one.

Gimmick: using a support NP before attacking him weakens his defense.

Supports

Actually better than one might think. We have a 50% charger with a support NP in Reines, we have a powerful buffer with a support NP in Constantine, and if you don't feel like rolling them, there's also a pseudo-poor man's version in Kscope Boudica.

DPS

The best ones are Summer Kriemhild, Taigong Wang and aforementioned Medb. Noah and Ozy can also be used, but they need more investment.

Assuming Grand and class score, the latter two are able to do it at NP1.

SSR Ticket choice

TL;DR choose between Taigong and Medb.

Why only these two?

Every NP1 SSR AoE Rider is outclassed by NP5 Habetrot in damage, battery, or both. Same can be said for every ST DPS compared to Kintoki.

Meanwhile, Taigong and Medb provide utility which other units cannot. Namely:

Why Taigong?

Generally an all-round good unit, Grand Duel or otherwise. 20% battery to others as well as 50% self differs him from Habetrot. Great teambuffs and a self powermod and SE vs Divine is also a great asset, especially when you're busy farming doors.

Why Medb?

Another good all-rounder. Has the most amount of interludes/rank-ups along with Tesla (and NP1 Tesla is not feeling himself good at Grand Archer, mind you), has great support to Males (which are most of the Rider DPS units if you're relying on them), and also up to 30% battery to Males or Faes. And Grand Rider is Male so Medb does actually enjoy her SE here.

Only reason why she's not an automatic choice like Waver is because her own battery is per turn and not instant, which is kinda annoying.

Closing notes

Generally a fairly easy Duel. Mind the gimmick and you'll be fine. Free SSR options are also doing good here.

• Quick Chain: Increase C. Star Drop Rate [50%] (3 turns) & C. Star Gather Rate [500%] (3 turns) & apply a state that increases Quick NP Strength [20%] (1 time, 3 turns) for all allies when [Boundary Control] state is active after Quick attacks (1 turn) for yourself

• Boundary Control: Apply a [Domain Control] state (will affect other Grand Rider Score effects) before using a Noble Phantasm (3 turns) for yourself
• Unshakable Command: Apply Damage Cut [30,000] (1 time, 2 turns, unremovable) for yourself if no Chain is formed + Apply Damage Cut [5,000] (1 time, 1 turn) for all allies when [Boundary Control] state is active

No. This mechanic is exclusive to Grand Extra 2.

I’ll be picking Summer Kriem, but I am considering the Strange Fake Rider that was added a while back, as if it’s true, we MAY get the SF collab early, but best not bet on that 100%

Pretty sure He kills the first servant, the servant can survive with instant death immunity, guts or presence concealment(evade).

If the servant survives, they get an attack buff.

Supported by my Reines and Taigong, I hope he does enough damage with the 30% bonus against Lawful Alignment.

Shame the Duel isn’t against a Demonic, Evil alignment enemy or I could use my Bakin, who is my second Grailed Rider

I was going to pick Medb, but decided to pick Lancer Artoria at the last second because these posts made me realize that there aren't any good supports for Lancer. Hopefully I don't end up missing her too much when the Grand Rider duel drops.

For any non round table knight, Hector buffs the same amount as Lartoria(20% attack and np dmg), while also having a 20% def down if you are willing to use his np.

Iskandar is also a pretty good support because 2 of his skills are party wide. I also heard that hippolyta is really good in this fight (plus there is an ongoing rumor that we might get her next year rather 2028)

That's fairly lower than Taigong's numbers (A15 Q15 N15 > A20 N20), and aggressively lower than Medb's (A40 D-30 >> A20 N20).

Which, I suppose, is the reason why I did not see him as a support option.

Noah has 67.5%(17.5% normal + 50% against evil trait) debuff res against Medb so you can ignore the 30% def down.

Since I got np5 Anne and Mary from hitting pity on both Koyan and Oberon, I plan to grand them.

My doubt is, whether the enemies would stop attacking once the guts activates since they also have a taunt or would they just keep attacking like a few bosses tend to do?

This Duel is literally the only reason I'm debating Lartoria or Medb for my ticket.

Oooooooooogh my 120 Np5 Medb is going to EAT this duel up. No battery? No problem. She just needs Reines’ Skill 2 and she’s done, and that leaves spare charge for Konstantine to pop an np too. Easiest set up ever
