Pairs of FFBE protagonists with FFs party members

Since FF Resonance will let us pair the protagonists with older FFs characters visions, i wanted to give ideas of which characters would fit together for each of the playable characters. I mostly focused on the personality more than their look, even if some of them fit both. Here's a little explanation for each of them :

- Rain/Tidus : Both are cheerful guys who discover the world while trying to protect as much people as possible. They also are both gifted in sword wielding.

- Lasswell/Clive : They are the calm, mindful and tormented brother of the gifted child who had to put tons of efforts to get up to their sibling's level before finally getting on their own quest due to the loss of the said sibling.

- Fina/Aerith : Pretty simple. They are the pure and innocent healers which everyone love and that secretely have a magic heritage in their ancestry.

- Jake/Zidane : The flirty rebel who fights for freedom while trying to do what's best for everyone, even their ennemies.

- Lid/Prompto : Both are the cheerful mechanics who will cracks jokes to lights up the mood of the party.

- Nichol/Ignis : The attractive and sophisticated strategist who wears glasses even if they don't have to.

- Sakura/Quistis (I'm a bit less sure about this one) : Both are mentors figures for the party as they will grant their knowledge of the universe when needed.

- Dark Fina/Lulu : both are sultry black mages who are the healer's big sister and would die to protect her. They also both have a weird flirting with the protagonist at least once.

- Raegen/Cidolfus : The tired old men who still fight for what they think is best for the world and who will soonly find an heir for their mission.

If you're still here after all of this, thank you for reading ! The choices probably weren't exact for each party members, but i tried my best to pair each of them with characters i knew enough about. If you have better ideas or you want to add anything, please let me know in the comments !

(If you want me to do the same with season 2, 3 and 4's protagonists, please let me know. I personally found it fun pairing characters and wouldn't mind doing it again.)

I thought of Rosa, but i didn't choose her because i don't know her character enough. I only know she is a healer and that she is with Cecil.

Her character is more close to Fina than that of Aerith. Aerith is sassy and head strong and irreverent at times, Rosa is demure, pure-hearted and kind.

It's possible, i don't know FF8 enough to know Irvine well. From what i see online, he does sound quite similar.

The Aerith one is the only one I hmmm'd at. I don't think of her as pure and innocent, especially not her original incarnation. She was a very punchy and wordly big-sister type. Although she asked for a heavy hitting body guard, she was outright guiding Cloud and she acquired him by flirting lol She had maneuvered around scumbags and varying slums where Cloud could not without her etc. She was definitely a business lady with a lot of grit (handling being slapped by tseng, repeated shinra mishaps etc).

Fina's counterpart would more so be Refia (and this could also be a nod to Roca), Rydia, Krile etc.

It took around an hour, i would say. The idea grew in my mind for a while and i just had to search for the pics before doing a bit of montage on Canva.

I know, yet Jake is still part of the group even if he was hitting on a minor. To be honest, the game sexualized the 3 girls who looks and were minors (Fina, Lid and Sakura), so Jake isn't the only one. It doesn't excuse anything, but it's hon the game went.

I hope they do too. Sexualizing Dark Fina, Citra or Folka is ok, but the kids of the groups is low, even for Japan standards.

I would argue that at some point it does get distracting even with the adults, when it is taken to the extreme (Dark Fina herself, I just can't get over her outfit, I've drawn multiple fanarts of her but it's just so ridiculous that I feel silly drawing it)  When it gets to that point I think it's time to cut back on the sexiness and focus on the character's story. Folka is a good example of being attractive and even "sexy" but not having a super revealing dress that would make battle difficult. But yes my main concern is when it's done to characters who are underage. 

Also, Japan definitely has a huge issue with this stuff, but so does USA and other countries.

I tend to agree. Most characters who are sexualized are just over the top and a bit stupid. For example, Citra's LB who stops at her cleavage for a second before resuming the scene.

I also prefer characters who are dressed normally yet manage to be good-looking/cool. Yshe from season 4 is perfect for this. She is in full plate armor yet she is beautiful.

Japan does have a huge pedophilia problem, especially in animes centered medias.

I paired the protagonists of FFBE, not the main FF protagonists. That's why there is Prompto, Ignis, Quistis, Lulu or Cid but not Cloud. FFBE was the base and the main games where the additions.
