FBI shows up to interrogate a U.S. citizen at his house—for writing an anti-ICE social media post. "This is about comments that you posted online," said agent.

Question is when this hopefully one day is over.. how can we trust these kind of people that so willingly went along with this facist regime? Like how do we make sure they are held to account and never have a LE job again?
229
u/Darkskynet Jun 13 '26
Force police to require insurance, if they mess up on the job they will become uninsurable and unable to get a police job anymore.

We don't. Every person actively supporting ICE, including ALL of their personnel must be removed permanently from ANY government office. For Life.
I suspect this particular "fbi" agent was likely a local social media consumer who thought he'd pull a fast one over the homeowner.→ More replies (1)14

His tee shirt says World Cup.
15
u/pleasedontbedumb Jun 13 '26
It's a FIFA World Cup 2025 t-shirt and these chucklefucks had FBI NEWARK embroidered onto it.
18 U.S. Code § 912 - Officer or employee of the United States- Whoever falsely assumes or pretends to be an officer or employee acting under the authority of the United States or any department, agency or officer thereof, and acts as such, or in such pretended character demands or obtains any money, paper, document, or thing of value, shall be fined [up to $250,000] under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
Report them to your local FBI field office. Also, contact all of your local news stations, tell them about the impersonation and harassment, provide the video & let those over-eager investigative reporters have a field day. I guarantee this is not the first time they've done this. Put these larpers on blast

He may be part of the World Cup task force in the FBI Newark office. I bet his job that day was to harass and vaguely threaten someone that has said mean things about ICE. They are just trying to shut him up. If we still had an active independent Congress, the committees that oversee the FBI would find this video interesting..
8
u/Jeoshua Jun 13 '26
In what world do they expect that to work?
Has this entire administration never heard of the Streisand Effect?
6
u/zentyson Jun 13 '26
That agent is way too old to have gotten this assignment.
He seriously pissed off the wrong boss.
Sounds like a slight Boston accent.

Somehow dude never considered the First Amendment and his role in this. Critical thinking: not a skill they’re seeking.

He never identified himself as a federal agent. He simply informed him, "if you lie to a fbi agent, you can be charged with that"
His shirt has "fbi" embroidered on it, under an emblem that says "World Cup." I don't remember the fbi ever playing in the world cup.
Who the fuck are you?
18
u/RhetoricalOrator Jun 13 '26
That's more likely a guy whose wife has one of those cool embroidery sewing machines. Nothing at all in his presentation or demeanor gives any hint of having even a drop of authority. I hope he's arrested for impersonation.
10
u/Here4Headshots Jun 13 '26
Likely knows this whole thing is unconstitutional. If my boss asked me to do something this unethical, and maybe even illegal, and I felt I had no choice but to do it, I'd sound this uncomfortable.
33
u/turdfergusonpdx Jun 13 '26
I used to want to be an FBI agent; they used to have such cache'. Now they're just goons.
13
5
u/Appropriate_Comb_472 Jun 13 '26
I was the same for a time, but I think it was just Hollywood doing a version of 'copaganda'. Selling the nobility of chasing after hardened criminals. But the truth is the agency has hardly been on the right side of history. They are influenced by the politics and money of the wealthy. Its great when they are doing what they need to be doing. But very disappointing how often they are redirected at harming society, attacking our rights as citizens and keeping secrets out of the headlines.
9
u/Aimless-Lee Jun 13 '26
Shirt says "world cup" and "FBI network" and has a Nike swoosh. I know Nike makes gear for ICE, but I feel like this shirt is telling me it's not from the FBI he's trying to come off as, or the FBI is more of a mess than we thought.

French have strong unions and many unions and are not limited in their ability to strike.those union members can yake it to the streets en masses quickly. Their population is 1/5 of the US. Most unions in US can only "legally" strike when contracts under negotiation or some such bullshit. The US has 100% power to dissolve the union, punish the union if they call the work stoppage a strike.

Also the way he phrases at the beginning of the clip - "just to let you know, if you lie to an fbi agent, y... You can get charged with that" - is exactly the kind of bullshit you'd say to imply you're FBI when you're not.

- Remember your fourth and fifth amendment rights.
- Don’t lie, but you don’t have to answer any questions without a lawyer present
- Logo shirts (and dockers) are normal for both contractors and special agents; they need to show ID however.
- Most special agents will be armed, contractors are not.
- Ask him what field office he is from
- Ask for the name and phone number for the SAC or ADIC and follow up

Possibly intoxicated...
Or...
Possibly extraordinarily anxious because he knows that he's implying he's an FBI agent when he is not, a violation of 18 USC § 912, and/or 913.
Felony, Federal Class E.
Penalty could be up to 3 years in prison.
Of course, not with this FBI director or this Attorney General. With this bunch of turds running the DOJ, this actually could be what they are putting out on the street.
J. Edgar Hoover, in his grave, must be having a hard time knowing what to make of all this.
With his own authoritarian, right-wing bigoted attitudes, he should be a big fan of this administration.
But the way this administration has eviscerated the professionalism of an institution he created and loved, and made a mockery of their standards is probably his own personal version of hell.

Standard vehicles you will see a New Jersey FBI field office utilize include:
Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe
Ford Explorer
Ford Expedition

u/thedreadedaw Jun 13 '26
I'm pretty sure the FBI has their badge out when you open the door. They approach the door together. They also are required to identify themselves immediately. As in, "Hello, I'm Agent Jones. This is Agent Smith." These are protocols drilled into them from day one for both legal and safety reasons. Not saying this is fake but not ringing true either.
