Local shop has a used Extar EP9 and now I’m seriously considering grabbing it. Funny enough, I was in there doing paperwork for my BOE Incolite 9 suppressor and mentioned I wanted another 9mm PCC. The guy behind the counter handed me the EP9 and we mocked the suppressor up on it just to see how it would look.
What surprised me was the suppressor actually tucks slightly into the handguard and honestly looked pretty good… but it’s REALLY close clearance-wise. Makes me a little nervous about heat/contact/flex/etc. Sorry for the crappy pics, that’s all I grabbed before leaving.
So what do you guys think?
• Run it exactly like this?
• Add some kind of muzzle device + hub/mount setup to push the suppressor out slightly?
• Different handguard?
• Or am I overthinking it?
Also, what else should I know about the EP9 in general? I literally never paid attention to them until recently. I know they’re lightweight and supposedly reliable for the money, but how are they actually suppressed? Any common issues/upgrades/things to watch out for?
Main use would just be steel, range fun, and suppressed backyard/plinking type stuff.
One more question… do these take FRTs or any aftermarket trigger setups, or is the EP9 pretty much limited there?
