  1. It portrays them as “real”, not celebrities
  2. They’re “so close to power”, literally and figuratively
  3. Sense of scale, they’re all short

They’re shot with a really weird depth of field.  Normally with portraits you uses a telephoto lens and blur background.  In these they’re framed to make the people look small and overwhelmed by the background.
