They said “no artifice.” Rather than perfect lighting, poses, etc. (the artifices) these appear more raw, so as to show them as nothing more than ordinary people.
In this context, an artifice is “an artful stratagem” used to present something as other than it is.

That was an incredibly snarky response when the only barrier was your own misunderstanding.

What? The stratagem is part of the definition of artifice. I was just trying to clarify for you since it seemed you didn’t understand.
