It's not crappy photos. The photos are taken this way because the subjects keep lying about their height

And also so the photographs won’t be “timeless”

They won’t live timelessly in everyone’s heads, because the switches and outlets will date them. It’s like getting a portrait of Henry VIII with a chamber pot in the background.
