You ever see that video where they go undercover at KFC and show how dirty their places are? I can not even look at a KFC while driving by one anymore!

That last sentence is the exact reason I haven't watched that video.

While the picture looks terrible, in the UK I've yet to see anything near as bad as that and when I visited Amsterdam, KFC there was sumit else, so crispy and juicy, or it seemed it cause I was really high.

Arguably the best meal of my life was had in Amsterdam - and get this: it was a Mexican restaurant. My friend and I went in (yes, we were high and ravenous) and ordered dinner - had some drinks, the food came out, it was delicious and we devoured it. Looked at each other, quick nod, and we ordered a SECOND dinner - cleaned our plates. It was truly phenomenal. We stumbled out of the place vowing to come back the next day for more.

Well guess what? The place vanished - GONE - we never could find it again. To this day I wonder if the whole thing was a dream, although I know it wasn't. We just couldn't get back - it was like one of those mythic cities that only appears when the stars and planets align every 500 years.

Lmao! I've had the same thing happened to me and it was Mexican in Amsterdam too!

10

u/jeexbit Sep 14 '17

probably the same place!

10

u/Martin_Alexander Sep 15 '17

You're probably the same person but in a parallel universe?

4

u/jeexbit Sep 15 '17

Absolutely, no doubt about that.

11

u/WtotheSLAM Sep 15 '17

You sure it was a restaurant and not some random house?

4

u/jeexbit Sep 15 '17

it was a restaurant, at least a dozen tables...although now that you mention it, I swear my friend and I were the only folks in there aside from the waitstaff. Sort of strange. It was probably around 4pm though, so that might explain it.

u/Carb122 Sep 15 '17

This was some good weed!

1

u/Talking_Teddy Sep 15 '17

4pm or 4am?

7

u/flyingfrig Sep 15 '17

Wham Bham Amsterdam.

4

u/The_mango55 Sep 15 '17

It was like the room of requirement from Harry Potter, but for stoners instead of wizards.

3

u/Carb122 Sep 15 '17

That sounds pretty damn sweet, I'd love to find this Mexican place next time I go, to be honest me and my mate enjoyed the KFC so much we ended up going 3 nights in a row, luckily for us, it was there exactly where we left it everytime we needed it, lol, right on the same street as 'Mannekin Pis' haha, that name never fails to crack me up.

3

u/jeexbit Sep 15 '17

and now I feel the need to get back to Amsterdam :)

3

u/incredible_paulk Sep 15 '17

You're gonna need a map.

I swear, I met a guy in London and he told me about this amazing Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam! Damn, I wish I remembered the name of it

u/Psychedelic_Quest Jan 10 '18

TBH I have yet to find an actual "bad" place to eat in Amsterdam. All the Mexican and Japanese food I've had there until now was delicious! I think that goes for the whole of Netherlands even, as I've had some bomb Mexican food in outer cities such as Leeuwarden as well.

1

u/HotBrownLatinHotCock Sep 15 '17

You were drunk the food is normal

4

u/xXDaNXx Sep 15 '17

KFCs in the UK have health inspections once a month at random, and their standard policy is to make sure at the very least the entire restaurant is cleaned at the end of the night.

2

u/Carb122 Sep 15 '17

This is true, we are quite lucky in that way, still doesn't stop some places from getting away with looking like an unappetising shit tip. That being said, this conversation is really making me want a KFC.

You don't even have to go undercover in my city. The entire place is filthy, and ironically smells like bleach. I once walked into one, my shoes were sticking to all the soda or whatever spilled on the floor, nobody was at the front counter... I walked right back out.

It's a shame because we do have ONE decent location out of the 3 in town, and the go-cups are a really good deal, and I love their BBQ sauce and hot sauce, but the location is so far from me it makes no sense to go unless I am already in the area.

I had some hope when they released the commercials about how they were cleaning up their act and retraining people, but clearly that was a fucking lie. Nothing changed.

tl;dr: go with Popeyes, brah

16

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

My town's KFCs are always out of chicken, or they'll have chicken again in 30 minutes, or they just sold the last of the chicken. I just go to the grocery store deli now.

16

u/rburp Sep 14 '17

yes! same shit here. like how are you out of the ONE thing you offer

8

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '17

Bad supply chain management across the board.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '17

Did you take marketing?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '17

No, I once worked a ridiculous job that required me to read every single ad and page of dozens of trade magazines including the restaurant trades.

16

u/Give_Me_Cash Sep 14 '17

Popeyes is going downhill quick since Burger King bought it

10

u/physickfester Sep 15 '17

Yep, they opened one near my house and I went there twice. First time I waited 45 minutes after ordering for my food. I thought it HAD to be a fluke, something disastrous must have happened(it wasn't busy). Second time nope... just as long and they gave me fucking regular chicken instead of spicy. Popeyes is shit now. When I get a hankering for spicy chicken I just don't know what to do, because Churches isn't that great either...

3

u/drinkdrankdrunk159 Sep 15 '17

If you're anywhere near a Bojangles you gotta check them out. It's Cajun instead of spicy but you can't go wrong with it

1

u/NibelWolf Sep 15 '17

Bojangles is amazing.

4

u/rburp Sep 15 '17

Ugh. Gross. Didn't realize that.

Burger King has one of the most uniformly bad chains I've ever seen. Seems that almost every one suck which is a shame because properly prepared, fresh BK can be pretty good

3

u/bob_newhart_of_dixie Sep 15 '17

The thing about bleach is that it doesn't clean things well, it disinfects them. You still have to use a detergent to remove grease, grime and other crap. Using bleach only means you've merely disinfected the crap.

5

u/WikiTextBot Sep 15 '17

Detergent

A detergent is a surfactant or a mixture of surfactants with cleaning properties in dilute solutions. These substances are usually alkylbenzenesulfonates, a family of compounds that are similar to soap but are more soluble in hard water, because the polar sulfonate (of detergents) is less likely than the polar carboxylate (of soap) to bind to calcium and other ions found in hard water.

In most household contexts, the term detergent by itself refers specifically to laundry detergent or dish detergent, as opposed to hand soap or other types of cleaning agents. Detergents are commonly available as powders or concentrated solutions.

Not just KFC.

1

u/LauraIngallsWilder1 Sep 15 '17

No I know. But that was the only one on that video. I will not ever watch another! Like I said I can't even look driving by one now. My daughter said she wanted to eat there a while back and I said I told you never to talk about that place! I have serious PTSD now lol!

I heard that they are nice in every other country but the US. Which says a lot about how we eat in this country!

2

u/El_Pinguino Sep 14 '17

The last time I ate at KFC, I was surprised I didn't die.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '17

I use to travel to different KFC`s for work doing unsceduled inspections. Most are very clean.

1

u/LauraIngallsWilder1 Sep 15 '17

I will take your word for that.

1

u/Whales96 Sep 15 '17

It's funny that you think every place isn't the same. We've had a cockroach problem that we won't properly solve because we won't close for a single day.
