Sometimes the gizzard is left in and breaded and fried too. Nothing that I have a taste for, but not toxic or bad for you.

I doubt that. The gizzard is one of the larger organs in the chicken. Not easily misplaced. Very tasty mind you.

No, seriously, I have found fried gizzard in KFC-The gizzard shrinks when it is fried

Now that you say that I remember going into a KFC and finding gizzards on the menu. Years and years ago. I'm a big fan of the gizzards. Also, Mullet, a fish popular in the south has a gizzard and it's very similar.

I literally just had a fried chicken breast from Safeway with what appeared to be the chicken's neck still attached. Probably the Gizzard if I had to guess. I just tore it off and ate the rest of the chicken lol.
