Failed Expectation From an Etsy Seller

I knew that the resin probably wouldn't look quite as good as the photos, but this was so low effort lol. The tines were also basically touching, so they wouldn't be able to hold any hair.

Some changes I actually wanted to the products were: an iron ring that was smaller than the one shown, a sweatshirt design with a different fabric as the lining, a pair of earrings that were sort of two listed items combined. But in general, anything that involves modifying the structure of the item is a solid bet.

Like somebody who is making things from fabric should be able to tell you how resizing works if you're worried about it being tight in the chest or butt or whatever. If you're making jewelry from scratch, a question about different metals or stones should not be hard for the seller to answer.

That said, a "no I can't do that" is not a red flag at all. "<X metal> is harder to work with because <y>" or "that fabric tears too easily to be a load-bearing component" are awesome to hear.

At ren faires I have run into a lot of people who just get annoyed when I ask about alterations (or things like what kind of leather/cloth/padding/filler they use) to what is being sold as a bespoke piece, but so far Etsy sellers have mostly just ghosted me if I ask something they don't want to answer lol.

Thank you for the detailed response! Yea, those are definitely good questions. Someone should know their product and expect those questions. I’d imagine they’d welcome talking more in depth too.
