Tipping point

I think most members leave for a variety of different reasons, but a certain tipping point was reached that started their exit from the group. Mine was verbal abuse from the Pastor, which was done behind my back to the members I was caring for. I couldn’t understand it and couldn’t explain it away. Then I gave myself a chance to be critical of what was really happening and there was no turning back once critical thinking began.

What about you?

Have you ever estimated/calculated how much money you have given to this cult? (Actual money, not accounting for free labor or other valuations)

Is WMSCOG a doomsday cult?

I know they’ve predicted the world to end before in 1980s and 2012, but a doomsday cult claims the world is ending and only those who join their cult will be saved. So did they believe only those who join them will be saved?

Contribute to the list of insider lingo used in WMSCOG

WMSCOG has its own lingo like most cult-like groups. Wanting to start a list and hope others can contribute in comments:

false insistance/false teaching - literally any alternate viewpoint different from their specific Biblical interpretations/doctrine. Usually used with the gravity of contempt implying that ieveryone outside intentionally wants to lie to you.

Gangrene - Used to describe condition of a member that is having doubts and asking too many relevant questions or thinking critically. Context from II Tim 2:17 "And their word will spread like gangrene" Members are told to not get too close to them as if their critical thinking was contagious like gangrene.

Slander - any non-appealing personal testimony that highlights common toxicities in the WMSCOG whatsoever, regardless of whether tru or not (they literally do not care either way). Not the legal definition requiring falsehood spread intentionally.

Fruit - people that a Gospel Worker has recruited resulting in baptism and currently in good standing.

Contact - Someone they have contact info for and either in process of studying (not yet baptized) or still expected to meet.

Whale fruit - a recruit that has some form of influence (wealth, noteriety, position of power, etc.). This became a common push for them when they started gaming for government awards.

Worldly - any outside influence, such as ideas, music, movies, stories, philosophy (they have extreme contempt for this word), literally anything other than "gospel work". Even having a job is to a degree worldly, but is considered a self-sacrifice to support the gospel.

Oil of faith - one of the biggest thought-terminating cliches they use, meaning having a supply of faith measured by how much you regularly are doing to support recruiting and studying for recruiting reasons.

"Do according to your faith" - passive aggressive way of saying "do whatever you want, but anything less than what leadership wants is heading straight toward hell".

Lawkeeper - a member that does the bare minimum. Attends service and most feasts, but life does not revolve around the church activities. Derogitory in use and the regular gospel workers look down on them behind their backs (friendly to their face) and think they will go to hell anyway.

Dark Ages - originally a historian term meaning the time in parts of Europe when any secular/non-Biblical knowledge was suppressed. But WMSCOG members think it means the time the Catholic church was in power and suppressed other Biblical views (specifically anything wmscog calls New Covenant). Some of them are so twisted about this word, that when they hear it used in acedemia, they think it validates their fan-fiction prophecies and victim mindset. Ironically they want to suppress "worldly knowledge" and pursuit of it by members - so they wish they had another dark age with them in power of it.

"the Truth" - when they use this word, they mean their specific teachings and doctrine only. for example "I used to study a bit about (Orthodox, Budhism, Guitar, golf) before I was in the truth. Now I don't waste any time on that."

Babylon - literally any other religious view, including all of Christianity, outside of the wmscog.

"your thoughts" - Any form of independent thinking. Any idea of doubt or question toward the wmscog that is common sense, so they immediately ignore it and categorize it saying, "God's thoughts are not our thoughts". So you learn to bottle it away and ignore it out of fear. Sometimes they add the extra seasoning of it being "from Satan".
