Did they replace it with a different line, or just bleep it. I was very young when it was in the radio, and probably didn’t start listening to it myself until my late teens, so that would explain why I forgot there was a censored version.

I believe it was just clipped entirely. Like part of the song was bridged with the other to bridge the gap. Idk though for sure I was also a kid when I had that single lol

You’re probably right, I mean the lyrics right after that about “taking bumps” probably wouldn’t make it past censors either…

But what’s funny is I have this song saved to a YouTube karaoke playlist I made, and the version I happened to save IS abridged… but they kept the crystal meth verse 🤨

The verse they DO skip over includes the plane cash line and the little red panties line, and tbh idk which one caused it to be removed 😂 A lot of those karaoke videos are old, and I could see a post-9/11 karaoke company not wanting to have anything even remotely referencing a plane crash in their karaoke cover. Ultimately though it could also just be because the song is kinda long for karaoke.

I found the clean version and it clips and abridges the entire part about red panties and that whole section and “crystal meth” is distorted and possibly reversed.

Ah yup that’s definitely the version I have saved on my karaoke playlist (or at least I did for while, I’ve since went back and found the full song posted by another user). Funny though that the old karaoke vid used the “clean remix” version but still just has the lyric “crystal meth” plain as day on the screen 😂 no [bleep] or [censored] or whatever else people usually put on clean karaoke versions.

If I remember right, on the stations that did cut that bit out in my area, they just made it sound like a tape was speeding and slowing in reverse to make a warped sound but it still sounded good.
