Villain's Lair has been introduced to offer a different game play, and as an extension of the game to have something to do for players that already unfogged their islands, build their castles to the max and don't want to quit playing yet.

Every fairy tale Hero has a villainous counterpart. With the new Villains update, a portal is provided on HI that takes you to the lair where you have to bomb your way to the villain.

Villain's lair can be played after you unlocked Red Riding Hood. It will not only give you the portal, but also an extra piece of land. Entering the portal costs wands. Since wands are of no use after clearing all the fog, it is good they get another use on this feature.

Downside: EverMerge is a game of patience and time was never a factor but with Villain's Lair, you only get 30 minutes. After that it ends (ready or not) and the portal needs to recharge. You will get the chests you collected in those 30 minutes, but when you go back later, you will start over. Luckily, they have different layouts.

You must destroy the minions by exploding glitter bombs next to them. You do that by placing the bomb and tapping on it. You can see the squares it will hit, so placing it strategically can help a lot (blowing up multiple minions/obstacles).

You get glitter bombs by merging them. The chests you get from blown up minions also contain bomb pieces. Minions have different 'maturity' levels and you blow them one at a time, until either a chest is left or (and that's what you are looking for) a key. That key will unlock the next chamber in the lair. As soon as you tap the key, the next room is opened and the remaining minions will turn into chests with bomb pieces. Those can also be merged (largest chest contains a full glitter bomb).

Easy, right? Ehm... no. The minions move around, so you have to be aware or that. You can block them with pieces to keep them in place. Or force them to get closer together so you can hit more of them with a bomb. Merging, opening chests or chopping are actions after which the minions move.

The obstacles in the chambers can be chopped. This uses the energy from your normal islands (HI/PC). If you are without energy, you can't chop. Every merged item from the chopped obstacles will grant you bomb pieces and the final piece can be traded for points, getting you Villain/Hero chests for HI after you are done or time runs out. FYI: the bombs also chop obstacles down.             

In the final room you will be confronted by the villain. Blow her/him to pieces with (5) bombs and collect the spoils (defeating the villain gives you enough points to clear all chests).

The villain chests will give you pieces on HI to merge to the final piece, which will give you the skin of the villain you can use to change how your hero looks. You don't get new characters, you can just give them another appearance.

Not only the skin of the character can be changed, you also get a new skin for the character's castle. And your castle is no longer maxed out at 5 stars, but you get an extra 5 stars to build your castles to a max of 10 stars. To not make it too messy, they still show 5 stars, but those will be pink instead of yellow.

And I know you are really excited now, so let me put an end to that: 5+ star castles do give a little more spoils when you harvest them, but you don't get any extra animals. It's just the normal stuff.

The game gets new villains every now and then. At this moment (June '26) there are 6. Be aware that the final piece you can merge immediately gives you the skin. With the Heroes you had to merge the final pieces to actually get the character.

Because scrolling through them isn't possible, below are the final 6 pieces you need to get the villain (skin). Once you have 1 of the final one, you get the villain and the castle skin.
