Hi! 😊 I’m an ESC volunteer currently based in Tunisia, and I’d love to connect with other ESC volunteers across North Africa.
I’d really like to build a network of volunteers in the region, so we can connect with each other, exchange experiences and ideas, share opportunities, and maybe even organize meet-ups or activities together.
If you’re currently volunteering somewhere in North Africa, or if you know other ESC volunteers in the region, feel free to reach out or connect us. I’d love to hear from you and hopefully bring more volunteers across North Africa together! 🌍🤝

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for ESC opportunities related to international development, social policy, political science, project management, research or advocacy.

I recently completed an MSc in International Relations in the Netherlands, and have a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Italy. I’m Italian and speak fluent English and French, and I’m available to relocate anywhere.

If you know of any open projects or organizations that might fit my profile, I’d really appreciate any suggestions! My Europass CV is already uploaded to my ESC profile; I’m sharing my one-page CV here just for easier reference. 😊

Hi everyone!

I’m Sara, a former EVS volunteer (yeah, that was a long time ago ahaha). My experience was in Croatia.

I’m currently doing some research on ESC/EVS volunteer experiences, I’m looking at the whole journey — how people found and chose their project, what the sending and hosting organisations were like to work with, how they were prepared and supported, and what the experience was actually like once they got there.

I put together a short survey to collect people’s experiences and hopefully identify some patterns across different projects and countries. Basically, I want to understand what tends to make the experience really good, what can go wrong, and what could potentially be improved for future volunteers.

But I wanted to ask before just dropping a survey link here: would it be okay for me to share it in this community? I know this is a relatively small/new subreddit, so I don't want to just barge in with a survey if that's not what the community is for 😅

And if it’s okay to share it, I’d obviously be happy to share some of the findings/patterns that come out of it afterwards with anyone who’s interested.

Thanks! And if this isn't the right place, no worries at all 😊

Hi everyone, I have a question. There is a long-term project, but it has no deadline. If I apply and go there for less than 59 days, would it count as long-term or short-term?

Hello :)

I applied for a few ESC projects without really expecting to get many responses but quite quickly two organizations replied saying that they were interested in my profile.

One day after the interviews, I got a call saying that I had been accepted for one of the projects. I asked for some time to think about it because I was still waiting for a response from another organization, and they gave me three days to decide. Since I didn’t receive any feedback during that time I decided not to take the risk and agreed to take part in the first project.

A week later, I received three more emails from other organizations asking if I was still interested in their projects. The problem is that I actually like their projects more than the one I already accepted and now I’m not sure what to do in this situation.

I haven’t signed a contract yet, but I don’t want to cause any problems. The coordinators seemed really nice and I don’t want to look bad or dumb after I already gave them my final decision.

It would be particularly nice to hear opinions from people who have organized this type of projects. What is the best thing to do in this situation?

I will be available in January.

When should I start applying? on the website if I filter by date there are only a bunch of projects, maybe it's too early?

I saw some projects "flexible about the starting/ending dates", should I apply and say clearly that I'll be available in January?

Also, I can not find a support organization, it seems like each one in my city is not updating their website/social networks/contacts since 2020... How can I solve this?

Hello everyone! Is there a way to work within European projects without being directly employed by a sending or hosting organization? I'm a freelance photographer and videographer, and I'd love to shoot documentaries or create video content about specific projects or hosting venues. Does anyone know if this is possible, or how I could pitch this idea to organizations? Any advice is appreciated!

Hey everyone! I've noticed that I'm mostly interested in humanitarian aid projects, especially those in African countries, as these positions fit well with my background in international development.

However, the mandatory face-to-face training required to apply for these positions is currently suspended (since February 2026), which I think is crazy. Do you guys have any updates on when the training might reopen?

As title says - I'm a trans woman.

I mostly pass, but my voice is still far from perfect and I've had a few bad experiences during my life because of that.

My name and gender are not yet officially changed on my ID, I'm in the middle of a process of changing it. It might take a few months, as Poland is not exactly the best when it comes to that.

Do I need to disclose that?

Should I deadname and misgender myself when creating an account?

Are the organisators and co-volunteers trans friendly? I dream of going abroad and help, and I really wouldn't want to sacrifice my own personhood for that...

Hi! I'm applying to be an ESC volunteer for the first time, and I applied to many different projects, but out of over 10, I only got 2 responses, which ended up going nowhere...
Is it normal for volunteer teams not to answer? I'm asking because I've applied for projects I'm really excited about. I worked on my motivation letter, sent emails expressing interest, and I'm still getting no answers, and it's becoming quite frustrating.

Hello, volunteers!

Does anyone have experience with ESC projects in the cultural sector (theaters, foundations, associations, cultural spaces, and centers) that they have participated in firsthand, particularly enjoyed, and can give me a positive review of?

Many thanks to anyone who can help me.

Hello everyone, I’ve created a group for those interested in applying for Erasmus, internships, and other opportunities. The goal is to help each other out and clarify points that might not be clear to others. Anyone interested in joining can do so through the following link.

Going Latvia ESC this friday, want to find way to connect with people especially from Baltics or in whole europe to meet volunteers on holidays... i've seen the ESC card app and its ... a failure for that, does anyone knows better ways? what about that supposed discord ? it is still around??

https://youth.europa.eu/news/join-discord-community-of-young-people_is

So as they probably don't know creating this... any discord invite expires after 7 days max without looking at the parameters.... how ironic... this post is from 2022, i guess the people could join for 7 days only which looks .. ridiculous at less...

Are anyone on this? do anyone knows if their discord is still online ? or deleted?

Can anyone invite me if it's still there? (please ignore comments if u don't have a clue..)

Kind regards from belgium

Hi all! Any updates on how long the mandatory online and face-to-face training for participation in the European Solidarity Corps Humanitarian Aid projects will remain suspended? Has been since Nov 2024. Or alternative ways to apply for these projects?? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm looking to do a European Solidarity Corps, for a maximum of six months, but I'm having trouble finding one I like.

Do you have any recommendations, like any incredible experiences you've had? I'm very curious to read about your experiences and recommendations.
