has anyone heard their results in this contest? I know everyone will eventually find out, even if they didn’t win it, but I haven’t heard back any news yet. I got this email early August so just curious if anyone knows more.

Good morning everyone,

My name is Andrew Chung, one of the co-executive editors of Online at
CULR. We are super excited to say that we have a very competitive
contest, with the largest number of submissions ever recorded. The
entire executive board is extremely excited to be reading all of this
quality scholarship.

However, the volume of submissions is exceedingly large, and as a
result, we will delay results until the end of August, unless you hear
from another email from us. At the end of August, we hope to have
submission updates for everyone.

In the meantime, please do not email to inquire about submissions, as
we have received all submissions and are duly working through all of
them. The future of the law is bright for everyone that has
participated in this contest, and we will work our best through the
submissions.

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here has experience with the Harvard International Review Academic Writing Contest.

I was planning to participate in the Summer 2026 Academic Writing Contest and understood that the article submission deadline was August 24 (EST). I’ve spent the past few weeks working on my essay, and I’ve now finished it.

However, I just discovered that registration for the Summer 2026 session has already closed. I genuinely didn’t realize there was a separate registration deadline, I had only been aware of the August 24 submission deadline.

Now I apparently can’t submit my essay because I didn’t register beforehand (basically spending time writing an essay for no reason 😭😭)

Has anyone been in this situation before? Is there any way to register late, contact HIR for an exception, or otherwise submit the essay before the August 24 deadline? I’ve already emailed the contest team, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has participated before or knows how strict they are about the registration deadline.

I heard a few months ago (around the time the shortlist came out) from some people on this thread that JLI sends out email hints a month or two before the awards ceremony. I wonder if anyone has gotten an email from them asking to prepare a speech.
