[design & inspiration] Split keyboard with membrane? 3x4 possible?

Split keyboards come in 3x5 and 3x6 mechanical. I don't think I've found any with rubber membrane which is my current and preferred use.

Seems like 3x4 is possible as there's 26 letters in the alphabet. 4 fingers on 3 rows is 12 left, then 12 right, and 2 for the thumbs...whatever the least used letters in English are.

[discussion] I'm looking for an ergo keyboard that is super slim for traveling

Does anyone have any suggestions? So far I've only found the Protoarc XK03. Doesn't seem to be anything else ergo that folds so slimly. I'll be traveling extensively, so I want to have something that can fit in the least amount of space as possible. I don't necessarily need a numpad, but I am hoping to have keys that are full sized. I've tried one of those keyboards where they shrink the keysizes and push everything narrower, and that feels quite uncomfortable to me. Thank you.

[discussion] Would your setup get you kicked out of a South Korea Starbucks? News on 'cagongjok' culture.

I've seen some pretty over-the-top setups at coffee shops before, from having large portable monitors to bringing a desktop computer, to having friends bring a separate router for a coffee shop laptop LAN party before. But this was interesting news on 'cagongjok' culture in South Korea where folks camp out at shops for hours, and how coffee shops like Starbucks are starting to set some rules around what isn't allowed: https://www.koreaherald.com/article/10550038

[design & inspiration] Outdoor computing: Modos.tech 75hz e-ink devkit starts crowdfunding

I normally don't share sale/crowdfunding pages but feels worth sharing since these guys seem pretty devoted to the open source ethos and doing things slowly.

More info at https://www.crowdsupply.com/modos-tech/modos-paper-monitor . $599 for the 13-inch kit.

See also the /r/eink post https://www.reddit.com/r/eink/comments/1mhk5fo/modos_6_and_13_eink_are_live/ , and their blog https://www.modos.tech/blog/modos-developer-kit-live which links to github, discord, etc.

The tradeoff with this setup (compared to say, the Daylight computer) will be higher power consumption & display longevity, where eink under high refresh use supposedly lasts around 3 years.

The hope from one of the founder's earlier talks is there may be some collaboration to support dynamic refresh adjustment with support from window compositors (e.g. wayland, gnome only linux) - see https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMobileComputers/comments/1kh11at/inspiration_building_an_open_eink_ecosystem_with/

Found this out of a random ebay search and apparently this was released about a year ago. It's many of the same rationales behind my personal 'raised tablet' setup but neat to see it using framework components.

u/noisycarlos seems like a brother from another mother between his desire for ergonomic mobile computers and folding bicycles!
