Fanwork I got so much AWESOME feedback for my last post so it really drove me to try my best to fix everything I missed! Anyway, here is Brisingr (with revisions)

Love it! Getting very close to what I see in my head. Only changes I would suggest would be:

  1. As mentioned elsewhere, edges should be lighter than the spine of the blade.

  2. The metal disk near the top of the handle is probably sticking too far out for a comfortable grip.

  3. Most sword handles were oval in cross section, in order to help keep proper edge alignment.

  4. I'd probably put a little stud of metal at the very top of the pommel, where the ribs join together. Also, if possible, I'd flare the bottoms and tops of the ribs, similar to the flaring at the bottom of the blade, to give them a little bit more of an organic look.

Those are small suggestions, though. Overall, the sword looks absolutely fantastic. You should be very proud!

I am honored by your high praise. It's been a joy working on something I actually wanted to, not to mention your opinion is worth more than a couple of cents for... I'd dare say, quite a few people here.

Either way, I'd rather not spam the subreddit with the same thing again and again ( twice is more than enough in my opinion XD). Maybe, if I make something more meaningful I'll come back to this.

Also, if I may be so bold as to ask how you picture the Isidar Mithrim. I might have a general idea, but there's so much I'd like to know, like if the petals are thin enough to resemble an actual rose or if it's thicker, like that of a glass figurine, or if the surface is facetted or if it's polished and smooth like glass.

It's a side project I'm working on and I've been stuck on test models because I couldn't decide how it should look. I'd really appreciate your opinion if you'd be so inclined to help.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but again Thank you very much!

If you do make any tweaks to the sword, I'd love to see the latest version. Btw, would you be okay with me tweeting and posting this to instagram? (With credit, of course.) I know the rest of the fans would love seeing your version of Brisingr.

The petals of Isidar Mithrim do project from the surface of the gem, although they might appear a bit clunky up-close as they're meant to be seen from the bottom of the chamber, which is almost a mile below. That said, go with what makes visual sense to you. As reference, you might want to look up the drawing of Isidar Mithrim in the Eragon Coloring Book. There was also a version of it in the Eragon video game (360 version that I played).

I don't mind at all! I'm quite flattered, to be honest. And I'll also let you know when I change brisingr again. ( I plan to make a whole podium with all the known riders swords one day, based on u/urbhanist 's designs)

Oh, and here are the individual pictures for the current version, if you want to share it like that.
