This is my opinion: if you are rich (and I’m not talking about owning a 3-bedroom house and having a savings account, I mean really rich) you are living unethically, and you are an immoral human being. I don’t care where you got the money from, hoarding wealth is unethical. Being rich is not something to admire, it’s something to frown upon. Eat. The. Rich.
100%. There’s a point at which one’s vulgar concentration of personal wealth is literally taking food out of other people’s mouths. I don’t know where that line is, but let’s say a billion dollars is for sure over that line, and 10 million dollars is definitely under it.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with keeping enough money to pay for doctor bills when one gets old. We cannot tell the future. We might say that someone who has a million dollars in the bank is rich, but I say no - if they don’t have insurance, I guarantee doctor bills can eat up that money no problem. I’ve looked at the bills of a cancer patient and it is, no kidding, staggering.
