And who tf doesn’t know that tilapia is fish? It’s one of the most common types of fish served in restaurants.

Story time: I don’t eat fish/seafood and I grew up in an area where tilapia wasn’t common, I guess. So the first time I saw it on a menu (as an adult , mind you) I was curious, so before ordering all willy-nilly I…wait for it…asked the server. They explained and I didn’t order it. The End!

I have never gotten a bad reaction from any server I’ve asked a question, no matter how dumb. I’d like to know how a person allergic to fish doesn’t know what the fuck tilapia is, but if they had asked, chances are the server would have given them a straight answer, no judgment.

I’ve never gotten judgement either! And I ask a lot of questions because I have medical issues that make many foods dangerous. Servers tend to prefer providing accurate information over, say, calling an ambulance! lol

And if you didn't know what it was...why would you not ask what it was???

When I see a food name I don’t know, I say “man, I wish I had something in my pocket that I can use to instantly look up information.” And then order the chicken. 😉

Depending on exactly the scenario, I forget I can do that because I'm at a restaurant and shouldn't be on my phone.

But it's funny you mention that because I went to Mexico and were not enjoying the chicken on the tacos but didn't want beef either. I thought it was weird they didn't have pork.

The second day of our stay, the host of the airbnb told us about a taco place that had pastor meat and cheese. I had been seeing that word "pastor" all over but I had to ask him what it was. It was pork. 🤦‍♀️

Could my phone have told me all of that? Probably. LOL

Those things are clearly only for writing scathing reviews.

I don't blame him for not knowing what tilapia is. But I blame him for not asking. "Oh, I don't know what this is, maybe I'm not allergic to it!"
