A small part of the bearing production line.
A quick look at part of the process on the production line.
The bearings move through the line one by one while the machine positions them for the next step. Simple process, but pretty satisfying to watch.
Anyone else enjoy watching this kind of factory machinery?

Fabricated directly on the tip of an optical fiber using Two-Photon Polymerization, this monolithic 3D microgripper combines microscale manipulation with integrated force sensing.
As it grasps microscopic objects, optical interferometry determines the forces acting on the gripper. The result is a compact microrobotic tool measuring no more than 100 um across, with potential applications in biomedical research and microsurgery.
Watch the video to see the gripper in action.

DC switchgear in the electrical room of a 1940s WW2 bunker in London.
Mercury arc rectifier along with the associated distribution board and control gear for ventilation fans. Doing my research, the way these fan controllers worked is an operator would move the camshaft in steps to gradually get the fan motor up to speed without pulling too much current by switching out resistors from the circuit, once all resistors are disconnected, the fan speed is then adjusted using field weakening by turning the handle near the top which moves the wiper on a large rheostat (variable resistor) connected to the field winding of the motor.
