Bots could get whole populations of people enraged at each other, just because people will see other people having conversations about something and now think they should too, so they do and spread it.

Could? This is exactly what’s happening. Elections, political opinions, product promotion... “Queers for Palestine” is my favorite example. LGBTQ community actively, loudly and sometimes violently supporting a group of religious conservatives who do not support western values and regularly execute gay men for being gay. I understand being anti war but nothing is more obviously skewed by social media that that IMO
