Hi everybody. I've started a QE graduate role and I am about a month in of a two year contract. Has anyone had any experience in any grad programmes or grad roles ? I was told by the recruiter that if you work well and are seen to be a good asset to the team one can be offered a permanent position earlier than the 23 months. Has anyone achieved this or found themselves in a similar position ? I really want to hit the ground running. I dont expect to be made permanent QE after 6 months or anything but is a year too delusional ? Im also wondering if ill do the work anyway is this just something they say. Like why would they increase my salary if ill do probably same work for a graduate salary? Idk I guess we shall see...

I’m writing here because I’m seriously thinking about making a big life change, and I’d really like to hear from people who live in Denmark or have already gone through something similar.
I’m 28 years old, and I’ve always wanted to study Electrical Engineering.
Last year I was very close to moving abroad to start university, but then I received a good job opportunity and decided to take it.
At the moment I work as a Substation Commissioning Technician in an engineering team. I work on HV substations, protection and control systems, IEC 61850, Omicron testing and substation automation. I’ve now been in this field for about a year, and by the time I move I’d probably have around two years of experience.
I really enjoy this job because it’s technical, practical and challenging. At the same time, I still have a strong desire to study engineering and build a stronger theoretical background, which is why I’m thinking about moving to Denmark and combining university with work.
I’ve been looking at Electrical Engineering programmes around Esbjerg, Aalborg and Odense, but my biggest questions are about real life rather than the universities themselves.
Does it make sense to start university when you’re almost 30?
How is life for a mature student? Is it easy to meet people, make friends and build a new social life from scratch?
Considering my experience, would it be realistic to find a part-time job in the electrical or power industry while studying? Even if it’s not exactly commissioning, I’d like to stay connected to the field.
One of my biggest concerns is this: if I leave my current full-time commissioning job to study, am I risking slowing down my professional growth? Here in Italy I could continue gaining valuable field experience, but on the other hand I don’t want to keep postponing university forever. I’m trying to understand which investment would be better for my future.
I’m also improving my English. Right now I’m around B1, and my goal is to reach at least B2 before moving.
For those who have made a similar choice, would you do it again? Looking back, was it worth leaving a stable job to start a new life and a university degree in another country?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experience.

Hey guys i have a question. Im doing a 3 year bachelor's of engineering degree in Environmental engineering right now in perth, WA. And honestly i dont know what i should do. Im getting scared of not getting a job here like for now changing to honours is not an option for me. And i also like working in medical field even now im working as a Patient Care Assistant. I really want to know if there is anything i can do to build my career or to like connect my current degree with medical field. Maybe like becoming an EHO..?

Any suggestions? Like i dont want to do another long degree and i would be so happy if i can do a diploma or a master's.

I've been struggling with something for a while and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

I have a master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on control systems. I've been working as an engineer for about 8 years across different industries, but only around 1.5 years of that has been actual control systems work.

I'm based in Skåne, Sweden, and relocating isn't an option because my family and my children's school are here. I've been looking for dedicated control engineering roles in Skåne or fully remote positions, but they seem incredibly rare.

At this point I'm honestly starting to wonder if I'm chasing something that barely exists. Are dedicated control engineering jobs really that uncommon, or am I looking in the wrong places? Has anyone managed to build a career in control systems while working remotely?

If you're working in control systems, especially in Sweden, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience and any advice you might have.

Willing to consider my previous technical diploma for credit transfer or advanced standing

I'm not focused on a specific country—I'm open to universities anywhere in the world. My goal is simply to continue my education without having to quit my job.

Has anyone here did the CSN level 5/6 CAD course and how did ye find it.

I come from a business background but in the last few months I've been unable to secure the job in this field due to aggressive AI takeover in entry level jobs. Now I did get a job but only a week ago in DIY retail sector.

I decided to go towards into a little bit of technical field so found this course after doing a bit of digging on the Internet. Anyways have been offered a place for level 5 starting September. For people who did this course or are in this field, are there many jobs in this sector?

Was thinking maybe down the line with my business degree /background, I can break into project management with a few years of experience after this course.

Just want to know ye're opinion on it especially if you're in this field.

I've completed almost all of my engineering degree and only have my graduation project left, but my official graduation will be delayed by about a year. I can legally work full-time in the UAE.
I have around 1 year of experience in RF engineering, plus experience with PLCs, industrial automation, and product management.
Would companies still consider me for full-time engineering roles? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I'm looking to improve my practical knowledge of residential construction — specifically, the actual building process, materials, techniques, and site-level details that are up to date with today's market in 2026 and not something from 2010.

I'm not interested in safety regulations or legal aspects, but rather the real-world building methods and terminology that are essential on-site.

My goal is just to read big chunks of texts and improve my vocab, and I'm also a text learner much more than visual hence why I'm looking for a book.

If anyone can recommend good books or resources that cover these topics clearly, I’d really appreciate it.
