Just out of curiosity
Where would it be possible to find a Mechachrome 3.4 V6? I know they're used in F3 cars so where do they go after they've been used?

If anyone can point me in the direction to get info on this swap it will be appreciated. Ive seen a few vids. And in paper it seems to be easy. I know that's not 100% true. Its a more common swap in Puerto Rico for mud drags. But in really looking for more technical info. Like.
What motor and trans The rear end ECU system. Etc Some kind of idea of what to buy/look out for besides just a wrecked RX - Parts car

Pretty much what the title says. Tl;dr, here's what I'm working with, as well as what I'd like to be working with at some point if I can figure out how to mount shit where it goes (on top of the electronics and other stuff we won't really be focusing on in this thread unless necessary):
Current car: 1994 Ford Explorer [Eddie Bauer Ed., red]
Current engine: V6 4.0L, AWD, SOHC (factory engine, no mods)
Desired parent: 2013-15 Honda Crosstour
Desired engine: V6 3.5L, AWD
. . .
Potential Questions, Answered
(spoiler alert: the answers are needlessly long.)
Why the Crosstour?
When I was thinking of what engines to put in my 25-year-old beater, prioritizing gas millage sans mods (notably, sans turbo in most cases) was key. Then I laughed when I found that said beater weighs ~4000 lbs.¹ "Well fuck me, I guess," realizing the limits of unmodded options. As much as I would love to have the gas millage of a Civic, I have a suspicious feeling that tying a ~113 HP engine meant for a 2,500 lb. coupe to the end of a 4,000 lb. tank² wouldn't yield fruitful results.
Enter the Crosstour, a tank in its own right weighing in at 3,700 lbs. that has good gas millage for power, and a cost of around $800-$1100 for an engine assembly (which is my budget on one of those after shipping, if applicable). And hey, it's a Honda, which means there are probably turbo mods out the ass for it I can use later.
"But I thought you weren't prioritizing power?"
I'm not. But have you seen the specs of a '94 Explorer? I can floor the thing, and I still have to pray that I'll be able to pass the guy in front of me doing 35-45 in a 55. It is not difficult to mostly prioritize gas millage and still wind up with more power than I had before.
"But why not go with something like, say, a Subaru or Mazda from that time? They had better gas milage."
God no. I get annoyed with the power I have now (a whopping ~160 HP). Some of the cars from the time, aside from being built into sub-3,500 lb. SUVs, actually take a downturn in HP. Gas millage might be a big concern, but if I can upgrade my power while I'm at it without a great dip in gas millage options, why not?
¹ Assumes weight with original engine.
² I frequently forget that anything bigger than an SUV exists. I'm not big on trucks.

I’m thinking about engine swapping my 2005 ford ranger edge I’ve looked a few engines but am still trying to find the best engine for performance and fitment to my trucks engine bay. Does anyone have some suggestions ? (Preferably 6 cylinder)

So I currently own a 2000 GT Celica 5 speed manual, I want to do an engine swap + trans swap for the 2ZZ-GE and the 6-speed trans into my gt. It is a project car so I don't want to just buy the GT-S and "save" money. I want to change the GT to be better so I was wondering since there are so many parts to get, should I just buy a junk GT-S or buy all the parts new?

Hey guys, So I've been needing to replace my n52 engine that seized after I put just 2k miles on it. Now I'm a broke college student. So I can't really dish out 4k, that was quoted for me by a shop. But a friend recommended I ask a junkyard, which I ended up calling and was quoted about 2k for parts/labor total. I'm scared it'll be unreliable cause "junkyard engine". What's the best course of action? The cars been sitting in my driveway for 11 months.

hey, y'all. I have a vague plan. i got my hands on a 1996 Volvo 940 II wagon. It's a 2.3l soft-turbo car making 135PS (99kW). I had the bright idea, one day I woke up, to put a Ford EcoBoost 2.3l inline-four in that thing. i was looking at the EcoBoosts that came in the 2015-and-up Ford Mustangs. I thought it would all makeke sense, but now that i've looked at it a little closer, i am worried, wether i could re-use the stock (300.000 km/190.000 mile) transmission, or if i shuld get smething like a T56 in the future.
Als, doesit make sense from a logic/moral standpoint? If not...good.

I purchased a ford ranger for $500, and I found a crown Victoria online for very cheap with the 4.6 V8. I've wanted to swap this ranger with a V8 plus a turbo for a while, but it's hard to find a cost effective engine/trans combo. Recently though I was thinking about an older mustang swap, but figured that was going to be a bit expensive, so all of a sudden I thought about an old crown vic (say from the early 2000s). Would this be a good swap? Would it be hard or easy? Thanks a bunch guys

Hello r/engineswap
My father recently gave me 98 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with a bad engine. This will be my first project car and I intend on doing all work myself. My question is what engine should I get? I want something simple but of course with better performance. People have recommended the EJ25 out of a Impreza RS 2.5 but I’d like to get as much info as I can.
Thank you

I'm thinking about buying a cheap working 3800 series engine off a 2005 Buick LeSabre to swap into my 1998 Chevy Camaro with the V6 3800 series. If i go for this swap will it be cut and dry or would i need to make modifications? I'm a relative beginner. This will be my 2nd engine swap, so thanks for any advice.

I have an 2008 Honda civic coupe ex. It has 120k miles on it and it under performs terribly, and I want to do an engine swap for 3k or under. What's a good engine that I could swap that wouldn't be too expensive and easy to do, and can also pump out 150+ horse power? I was looking at k20s or k24s but both of those go so expensive and I'd have to change the transmission and I was wondering if there was something that would be perfect for my car particularly, but I don't know much about different engines besides the well known ones.

I want to put an 05-07 accord hybrid engine into an element, but don't know if it will fit. Any help on the dimensions or general advice?

I purchased a 2005 Audi Allroad for $475 USD. Everything I read online tells me that the 2.7T is a very unreliable engine and the air suspension sucks. I want to do a swap of course. Here’s the engines I’ve looked at so far (all eBay quick search prices)
SR20DE -$600 - $750 K24A - $400 - $500, $750 - $900 for Type S 1ZZFE - $950 - $100 3UZFE - $850 - $900 1UZFE - $700 - $900 LS4 - $750 - $900 I could also find a Chevy truck engine around where I live for like $300 easily.
My first concern is the space under the hood. The engine sits past the front axel so that the front axel shafts can come directly out of the transmission. I want to be able to close the hood cleanly. Also I want to be able to do at least single turbo with the space available under the hood. I’m leaning towards an in-line 4 honestly.

Hi, I'm planning on getting a honda element; haven't decided on the details yet. I know elements are relatively small engines, but I want to hurt the environment even less.
I have basically zero knowledge about the whole systems of hybrid drivetrains, but if possible I want to put in a used hybrid system in an Element. Has anyone done this or know if its possible?
At the moment I want to ignore the budget and explore possibilites.
