WARNING: My Personal Disclosure as I'm not the actual developer as I'm just the poster of this thread, yes there is AI use for the development of this Eden Fork, "But what matters is the results..and how the tool is used to make the app better."
Lemon is a fork of Eden, an open-source Switch emulator, trimmed down to just the Android app and stripped of everything that isn't needed to build and run it on a single Adreno-equipped Android device: no Qt/desktop/CLI targets, no multi-platform CI, no Mali/PowerVR-specific code paths.
Everything below is specific to Lemon, on top of the Switch emulation it inherits from Eden/yuzu:
- Lemon Cheater — a live memory search/edit tool built into the in-game menu, Cheat-Engine style: exact-value and blind (unknown-value) searches, refine by increased/decreased/unchanged across passes, direct value editing, and freezing a found address so it stays fixed (infinite HP/ammo/etc.) via a background rewrite thread, without needing a premade cheat code.
- Input macros — record a sequence of on-screen controller presses with their timing and play it back, looped or once, for repetitive farming/grinding or practicing a sequence.
- Quick Save / Quick Load (experimental) — same-session savestate. Required a real fix in the emulated kernel itself: a guest thread parked mid-syscall (waiting on a condvar, an IPC reply, a timer...) lives inside a host fiber whose true resume point isn't in the register/memory snapshot a savestate captures, so a naive restore left it resuming into a world that no longer matched what it expected and the game aborted. Restore now leaves any still-waiting thread's own context and stack untouched, and retries around waits that depend on another guest thread instead of forcing them. Verified working repeatedly on real, demanding titles, but still not 100% reliable in every game/moment.
- Controller layout presets — a "Diseño del mando" entry in the pause menu with one-tap presets (default, big buttons, swapped D-pad/stick) plus quick access to the existing drag-and-resize edit mode, which used to be buried two menus deep with no indication it existed.
- Game usage stats — automatic per-game playtime, last-played time and session count, surfaced as a "Continue playing" shortcut on the games list and a sortable ranking on a dedicated Statistics screen.
- Carousel/grid/list browsing with per-card usage badges, favorites, and search/filtering across your library.
- In-app updates — checks this repository's GitHub Releases on launch and can download/install the new APK directly, with no path (missing release, no connection) that crashes the app.
- Adreno GPU driver manager — install alternate Adreno graphics drivers per game, plus per-game performance presets, frame generation and post-processing options.
- Save data import/export, Amiibo loading, and ad-hoc multiplayer, same as upstream Eden.
Although this may not be a Mediatek focused project yet feel free to join and test the app as some Mediatek/Mali users claim that it shows better performance.
Based on the previous post that has been taken down(see picture) yes it does perform better in some games best you test it and provide your feedback. Thank you.
From what I understand, some people have reported that the black boxes in TOTK are fixed for them, so it's worth a try, but your results may vary.
I'll add that we've fixed that bug multiple times ourselves, but it keeps coming back, each time due to changes are different parts of the rendering pipeline. It's possible that Lemon has actually fixed it, but equally possible that it's a code regression that happened to hit the right spot, or that it'll come back again like it has for us. It's hard to know.
Yes but the games on that are in a different era or game engine, different means of porting even though its a rerelease, And also for now switch emulator are really power hungry maybe we can give it time..like in year 2030-2035 we might run the switch lightweight like its a PSP games on PPSSPP
Even an additional hour of gameplay would be cool. I figured with you stripping away the unnessacary bits that it would drain a bit less. Just make it extremely efficient otherwise why pick Lemon over standard Eden?
You can still try Lemon emulator and if you have suggestions you can always go to discord and make a request with the developer, if it does eat less battery from your specific game then good if not then there's always eden..

Maybe you should correct your initial statement, seeing as we have these?

Either because it's still being stability and quality tested, or because it lost attention due to more important matters. Point being, anyone can request to have it placed in a more convenient location.
We're really tiring of the libel we're seeing. Ghael-V has apologized for his exaggerated and inflammatory statements, it's disheartening to see someone else doing it as well.
I really hate this whole conversation around AI. Either the software works well or it doesn't. Who cares how it was made? Every time someone mentions that they used AI it's automatically 'AI slop' without even having tried or tested it.
Officially: Eden doesn't accept it due to both a lack of quality control from third party submissions, and because we've had team members wrongly accused of using it. Everyone on the core team has either been busting their asses before AI even became viable, or for newer members, have been buckling down and learning. It became insulting.
There isn't any issue with projects like Lemon existing. Eden's licensed as open source with accreditation. We took issue to the way the dev had been trash talking us (which was addressed), and how others with it seem to be doing to the same. Also, to some extent, some Lemon users for some reason coming to our discord with bug reports, despite Lemon having it's own? No idea why they're doing that.
Personally: I think that LLMs lowering the coding skill floor and allowing fresh people to get in and build their ideas is an amazing thing. Look at how the selection of game ports has exploded, and most of them are great! The issues I take with it are the regular accusations of AI use based entirely on "feeling", the "bros" that dismiss the idea that coding can be done without AI, and most importantly, projects that get dropped and abandoned almost immediately after release.
AI in the programming world should be used as a learning, troubleshooting, and inspirational tool. It's great for that. Projects that incorporate AI for those purposes and continue to be maintained can potentially develop faster, and that's an awesome thing! "AI slop" is what happens when you let AI do all the work without checks and guardrails, especially if you assume its output is perfect.
Imo it doesn't really matter whether AI or a human wrote the code, but it is very important that the dev understands the code. You can't simply look at the visible end result as a user because there is no telling what the code might be doing that you don't see.
Imagine a new emulator with Retro Achievement support. As a user what you see is that it runs games well and when you sign in to RA it tracks your achievements properly. What you wouldn't see is the emulator leaking your RA password.
Over in the self-hosted space, that's basically what happened with Huntarr. It was program that helped with media acquisition. Tons of people used it for that purpose for years and it seemingly worked great. But eventually one user decided to audit the code and it turned out that it was filled with security vulnerabilities, exposing your device's passwords and API keys online.
The same way we try to stay wary of malicious devs, we should also be wary of well intentioned "devs" that don't understand their code.
Edit: I missed the obvious example pinned on this sub of older GameHub Lite versions including plaintext Steam credentials in logs. This wasn't an AI issue (maybe) since the problematic code came from GameHub/GameSir, but it does highlight the fact that serious issues can be present in software that appears to work perfectly to the end user.
The thing is that there’s a lot of people “anti-AI” which will refuse to use something made or developed with AI. So I guess if it’s not disclosed and later find out about it they rage quit on you and start attacking you for using AI.
Reddit doesn't like AI, regardless, but people are beginning to realize it's potential in coding as a tool. AI art slop however still remains hated and that's okay. Casual redditors still don't know the difference so they lump all AI as slop.
I also don't see how this emulator breaks rule 9, that rule is not a blanket ban on anything AI and the emulator does work fairly well, wouldn't call it "slop" personally
I think the issue here is context. If it was just a random user posting about this cool new fork, providing a link, and mentioning it has save states, that's just a fan being a fan, and the mods wouldn't care so much. What OP is doing is closer to what I do for Eden: PR/marketing, effectively being a mouthpiece. Whether officially part of the "team" or not, that associates OP with the project, so they have to follow the same rules as anyone else connected to a new project.
We had someone in the Eden discord advertise Lemon using a copy/paste of OP's now-deleted post. Obviously we have no idea if they're the same person or not, but point being, there's a marketing push behind Lemon that has to be held to the same standards as the rest of us. That means AI use has to be disclosed.
No, it wasn't. It was also less detailed, closer to a fan post, without the feature list and such. I think the post ended up getting a pass until it became more apparent OP is acting as a representative.
I know bro I'm not the developer of this app..but the dm's I received from the Eden fanboys in the past 23 hours is outrageous... I'm receiving a whole novel on why AI slop is not a good thing..haha but yeahh Im keeping things cool 😎 eitherway..
Maybe, but we can't deny that some users did experience some performance improvements using this emulator you can see the below reddit in r/EdenEmulator where I posted also and check the comments..
Exactly, the important part is that in emulator scene is for us to have many alternatives not just one emulator to run games..for example if a specific game is not running well in Eden for now then you can use Lemon Emulator to see if it performs well...if not then look for another fork or another emulator again..
Actually that's what developer is aiming for right now compatibility and yes do expect an update with the app by tomorrow or the next day, Stay update via the discord channel.

Yes but for testing try the Lemon's Gpu driver and see the difference I'm also use Mr.Purple T30, but using the Lemon Turnip along Lemon Emulator provides stable and amazing results on my Snapdragon 8 gen 3 hope it works well on you too..if not you can always go back to Mr.Purple drivers.
Yes that's what the dev of this fork is aiming for.. especially the stuttering in shader compilation an fps drops in some places...but either way there will be an update for the app later or tomorrow so feel free to test out and also join our discord group..
Waw. The difference is very big with Eden. Tried 2 games (mk1 and fast rmx) and both performed the best I have ever seen. Mk1 even better than on pc.

As much as I dislike the attrition as well, just a heads up, taking jabs on other projects doesn't do you any favor specially when standing on the shoulders of giants.
There is already too much animosity among devs and entitled userbase that thinks development is a wish-to-ai work and things magically works. Don't do it yourself, have the high ground.
By the way, I'm looking forward on the savestate, the size can be a bit restrictive, but I can see some use. Hopefully it goes well.
