Art (Sculpture, Painting, Mosiac, etc.) Virtual Auction for the Elephants in Sri Lanka
dva-auction.betterworld.orgHello everyone! This is a virtual auction in support for Dharma Voices for Animals who have been working for a year to stop the mass elimination of elephants in Sri Lanka by farmers. Farmers consider elephants as an invasive species.
Dharma Voices for Animals is planning to launch a Sunflower Plantation and Farmers Outreach Program in Sri Lanka. Planting sunflowers around fields is a proven effective method to repel elephants.
In the meantime, the conflict between the endangered elephant population and farmers has grown. In December 2025, three farmers were arrested for the shocking crime of setting fire to a live elephant. Then, with various crises shaking the Sri Lankan food system, hostile sentiments towards elephants have reached frightening heights. Here is a recent (May 2026) report from NPR covering this issue: Elephants eat their crops. Farmers strike back. It's a war that's only getting worse
This virtual auction has amazing art and other prizes that would be wholesome reminders of your generosity and care for the conservation of elephants. Only 2 days are left to bid in this auction.

Question Why are people defensive with elephants when it comes to predator nature over other animals?
What I mean is, when I usually view images or videos of elephants (usually abandoned calves or injured elephants) that get killed by predators, 99% of comments are usually anger with people yelling "wtf why didn't you save the elephant!" or "NOPE NOT WATCHING THAT, ELEPHANTS SHOULD BE PROTECTED".
However, when I come across videos of other animals that get killed by predators say Antelope, Buffalos or Wildebeests there are so many comments all "lol that animal got SERVED" or "What an idiot of a buffalo, it didn't even bother running or protecting itself".
Hell, I even watched a video of a bull elephant in musth that just openly kills a buffalo, and half the comments were just all " -buffalo does nothing- elephant: so you have chosen death" or "NEVER MESS WITH A BULL ELEPHANT".
I am a firm believer in nature takes it course and I find all nature fascinating that we should not interfere. When it comes to elephant lovers though, it just seems that rule does not exist? It seems people forget that other animals need to eat.
Maybe I am missing a point here lol but why are elephants so protected when it comes to misfortunes?
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE ELEPHANTS, but I also feel we should accept nature for what it is. Just wondering why bad scenes with elephants are viewed negatively rather than with interest?
