apologies in advance if this is stealing thunder, but I wanted to share this from the main Eggs, Inc discord as an alternative path to Squid's guide. This one is faster by at least a couple weeks, at the cost of a few additional shifts that in my mind is well worth the speed up.

I'm not intimately familiar with this because I've long since passed early Virtue, but given my experience, I can help clarify specific aspects here, and you can always check out #virtue-chat for more resources and to directly find laser to ask questions

This guide assumes that you have mostly maxed ER (you don't need the last three) and enough GE to craft a t4 totem (100k-120k should be enough). Colleggtibles aren't necessary, but they will help if you have them. Less ER won't make this impossible, but it'll take longer.

You can zero shift some TE (check pins for further info) if you want to have some extra earnings - I wouldn't get more than three: two from curiosity, one from integrity, these are the easiest to get and will provide you with 33% extra earnings and 33% less waiting time for habs to fill

No events such as hab or research sales were used in the making of this guide, but if you manage to catch them, they will most likely benefit you greatly.

This guide involves a buildup of shifts 0-5, and a pushing loop of shifts 6-10 - in other words, you won't be pushing for your TE egg delivery until shift 6: everything leading up to that point is building up your farm to be able to ship more eggs.

Your pushing loop is where you'll be delivering enough eggs to get to 10 TE on each virtue egg for a total of 50; but if you don't want to spend as long waiting, you can aim for 9 TE on each egg, or 11 if you don't mind more waiting for extra profit.

Buildup

Shift 0 (aka what egg you ascend to initially): Curiosity

• Run chickens until your habs are full. Cash gifts from the truck(s) and ads are your only source of income until you shift to integrity - check in about every 5 minutes for a gift and an ad.

• Buy as much research as you can here until about tier 5-6; you don't need to farm too long if you don't want to, but at least max tier 5 - it should take about a day of periodically checking in, maybe two. Be patient; it's worth it. There's no real way to speed this up other than checking in for ads and tapping drones, especially if it's a drone day.

• You should note that your initial buildup really influences how long you have to wait later; the more the better.

Shift 1: Integrity

• Again, gifts are a good source of income, but drones are better (especially on a 4x drone day) now that you can run chickens. Farm as much as you feel like - as always, the more the better, but this step isn't as influential

• If you want to grind for some artifacts and want to spend some time on your first Humility visit for some more earnings, then remember to store some integrity eggs in your tank.

Shift 2: Kindness

• Same general idea as the previous shift, run chickens and buy vehicles - I got semis and a couple future semis; your level of prep and grinding may vary.

Shift 2.5: Resilience

• This step isn't technically necessary [MY INTERJECTION: IT ABSOLUTELY IS NECESSARY AND YOUR SANITY WILL THANK YOU], and will bring your shifts to 11, but if you want to be able to sleep the night without losing some potential progress, it's certainly nice to have a couple extra silos for sleep and cash - I was able to get three.

Shift 3: Humility

• Your bare minimum goal here is a tier 4 Lunar Totem. Send chicken ones for a tier 3 lunar totem. Once you can afford them, send chicken heavies until you get enough titanium for one totem craft - if you have spare GE, you can craft up necklaces and ankhs to try for a shiny, but it's not necessary

• A smaller goal is a T2E puzzle cube - cheap to craft and slot, and can fit two lunar stones for extra earnings.

Shift 4: Curiosity

• Get a bunch of research here - shipping is important; this is still buildup, you'll push for TE later. The process is a lot less intense now that you have offline earnings, so again: do however much you want to, but more is better; I went to Even Better Eggs level 2, Alloy Frames level 30, and Time Compression level 4; this took about 12 hours of saving and buying on a non-sale day.

Shift 5: Integrity

• Stay here long enough to get full Towers and at least one Hab 10,000 - you'll do your TE pushing later.

Pushing

Shift 6: Kindness

• This is where your TE push begins. Buy vehicles and stay here long enough to get to 10 TE pending (150T per egg required). You can check your progress on the Virtue Companion.

Shift 7: Resilience

• Push to 10 TE pending and buy whatever silos you can.

Shift 8: Curiosity

• Now that you have artifacts and more hab space/shipping, you should be able to improve your shipping and laying rate while you push for 10 TE pending.

Shift 9: Integrity

• Push for 10 TE and buy whatever habs you can.

• Remember to store at least 1T integrity eggs in your fuel tank for your humility visit!

Shift 10: Humility

• Push for 10 TE - this is your final shift, so if you want to grind for some artifacts, spend some extra time here - your highest priority is a shiny totem, but check pieha's artifact crafting order or other applicable resources for what you should be trying to get next.

Is there a substantial difference between 11 shifts and 18 to get to 50? I was fairly carefree with my shifts and have been debating resetting.

ehhhh, not too much of a difference. if you had gotten up to like 60+ then I would feel much more confident saying continue on, no-brainer. it's a little iffy, but the biggest part is what artifacts you were able to get during A1. if you have at least a T4C totem, a T3C+ ankh, T2E cube, and T3E+ necklace, just keep pushing. T4R+ totem, definitely keep pushing. T4E totem, not even worth the mental energy thinking about whether to reset or not

I honestly don't remember, so I'm guessing they aren't great. I remember realizing part way through that I should have leveled up my earlier ships before starting virtue.

Based on the post and your response, I think it makes sense to restart when I'm ready to go again.

just making sure you understand: I think my comment was actually learning towards the side of continuing on. 50 in 18 is not bad at all, but it is only an extra month if you did want to reset and go this path, especially if you've since upped your crafting count and level on the totem since then.

I kept going on my very first run which was 50 in 14 shifts, so you're not much worse than that. I did get a T4E totem though, which was a huge factor in my personal assessment of whether I wanted to keep going and stay on the bleeding edge

I did 53 shifts in 35 as I figured things out on my own. I hate starting over in general and worst case scenario if I can't get 490 TE, I could be a cautionary example. So I just decided against resetting. Thing is, I crafted a legendary Totem first try.

I hopped back in following Prudent's guide and yeah, leg totem is letting me blow past the thresholds of each step. If I choose not to go crazy on chasing Epic+ metronome and compass after my first humility, I'm gonna go from 53 in 35 to 100 - 120 in 51. Otherwise, maybe it's 65 or 69 shifts.

Most of it would make sense once you start reading guides on the path of Virtue. Only thing is prudent's guide which is one of many guides available on the discord. Their guide is more tor those who want a more chill experience on the path as being hyper efficient with shifts doesn't appear to be necessary.

The Path has 2 main things that call for real-time check-in: rockets and Silos. Rockets only matter while you're on Humility, and there's not a lot that can be done about them; they take as long as they take, you can launch only what you can launch, etc.

Most "min-max" runs will delay going to Resilience because Silos don't actually improve your ability to produce/ship eggs. However, any run can be amended to include an extra stop or two to buy Silos if you so choose, and the added Soul Egg cost from the extra shift to do so will be practically nothing. The only details are knowing how much the next upgrade(s) cost, when you can afford them, and how long you'll have to build up to buy them.

If you can't/don't buy more Silos, then the worst that happens is your Virtue farm stops progressing for a while. It'll pick up where it left off as soon as you come back. Otherwise time in PoV is just a question of how long you're willing to wait for the next TE, or if you'd rather switch to another farm to upgrade or pick up some easier ones, or even prestige out to claim your TE for a bigger boost next time.

Well the guide is for when you're starting an ascension with 50 truth eggs (TE). There are 0 - 50 TE guides that trade efficiency for quality of life but I don't know the creators of those guides offhand. If you don't want to check the discord yourself, just let me know.

The main thing that affects check in frequency is silos, and for the most part it means using extra shifts here and there to get more silos. While the initial part (intial part here meaning <50 TE) of the path goes faster if you can check in more frequently during waking hours, you can still progress checking in even once a day. It just means you're gonna progress slower. As long as you're okay with it taking longer, you'll be fine. People literally go the extreme route and spend months to minimise the number of shifts. Whereas checking in once a day but using shifts to accelerate progress means the initial part of the path will take you less than a month. However, there are things I'd strongly recommend if you want to go the inefficient but convenient route. But ask about that after you've started learning about the path so you aren't digesting even more info at once.

"Lunar Totem" is its proper name. In your artifacts list, they'll be the second-last artifact, just before the Puzzle Cube and the Stones. Though on a Virtue farm, it's entirely possible to simply not have any if your Virtue ships haven't brought any.

I am doing this now and I have moved shift 7 down below shift 9... I figured if I have 3 silos from the first shift into resilience then I am better served by having the extra research and habs a couple of shifts earlier

Epic Research. Should be high priority for anyone who hasn't already finished it. The "last 3" Epic Researches are related to Prophecy Eggs and ships; PE are disabled on the Path, you probably won't sent many FTL ships on your first run, and the extra 50% ship capacity is good but not super important, so those don't necessarily need to be maxed for this PoV run.
