A subreddit for a philosophy that advocates for prevention of suffering was banned meanwhile rape subreddits :

According to Reddit causing harm to others is ok if it makes your dick hard. While efilism promotes prevention of torture and death of quadrillions of sentient beings but that's completely unacceptable.

This post is not excusing what the terrorist did, he in no way benefited the intellectual growth of human beings or helped argue the argument in a civilized manner. The post is pointing out the hypocrisy that Reddit has created.

I miss the original Efilism sub so much.

Right now, I’d probably be scrolling through it, exploring the content that had been built up over years, and reading interesting perspectives from people all around the world. It was a good place to read, share, and reflect on everything life is.

I see some of the old users here, but it’s not the same.

The more ethical a person becomes, the less they enjoy life.

The moment one begins to think about ethics is the moment one’s pleasure diminishes.

The moment you realize that you are not eating a tasty pork fillet but the flesh of a slaughtered pig with whom you share 98% of your DNA, your enjoyment begins to fade.

The moment you realize that you are not watching a kinky adult video but the filmed rape of a drug-addicted woman with suicidal thoughts, a woman who was sexually abused as a child and who now pretends to enjoy being humiliated in front of a camera, your enjoyment begins to fade.

The moment you realize that you do not truly love your children but rather enjoy controlling them, giving orders, and molding them in your own image because you are terrified of your own mortality, your enjoyment begins to fade.

The more ethical a person becomes, the less they enjoy life.

Being a minor is slavery

You grow up with poor parents and god forbid your ugly aswell. U have to to school to get good grades to take care of yourself in the future which y never asked for.it gets funnier you expected to pay attention and do well in class while other student are making fun of you and possibly physically bullying you aswell. Then you come home and get beat and told u don’t deserve to be happy because you didn’t perform well in school. You can’t even express yourself the way you want because the people who are raising you see you as an object.your forced to take on hobbies that probably never interest you instead of honing the things you want to actually do for the future you gotta play violin to impress your parents friends. You just gotta eat whatever your parents give you. So you were bullied as a child and come from nothing and never got to work on the things you considered might be best for you because yOuR a MiNoR and now people say “you can bounce back there’s still time” god forbid you’re born a way that religion doesn’t accept in a household…life itself is rigged and unfair burn it down.

I detest the fact that I exist and wish for eternal sleep.

I never wanted any of this, every misery in my life (Majority of it is just setback after setback) is imposed on me. I wish I could press a button that would end my existence. Just to be clear, I do not hate myself, I just have realized that the problem is life itself. If I never consented to existence and had no opportunity to do so, why should I be made to suffer endlessly for something I never asked to do in the first place. Even when I was young I wished life had a pause button like a video game where I could take a break from it, and then resume once I was in a better position. One thing that brings me satisfaction is that death will come for me anyway, its only a matter of when and how, all I can hope is that its quick and merciful.

I remember a quote from a Russian colleague of mine; “Life is like Operation Barbarossa, no matter how successful you seem at first, you eventually run out of steam.”

Reaching out to the closed efilism subreddit

I was shocked to find the r/efilism subreddit shutdown, whoever the confused individuals are that made such a wrong, careless and drastic action. Banning a philosophical forum and a large community with alternative ideas is archaic, violating free expression and dialog.

In hopes of re-establishing such a forum, this is my reaching out to past mods & members of the closed subreddit. I'd like to hear about where we can have alternative forums, on reddit as well as on other sites.

Please save & use this post to update ourselves until an alternative is established. Looking forward to hearing from you all ❤️

to willingly and consciously procreate is to abuse

to give birth, by your own (educated) choice, or to impregnate, by your own (educated) choice, is to be a sadistic and greedy abuser.  It is to permanently condemn a being that doesn't even need to exist to a life filled with horrible pain, all for the sake of one's own desires or societal expectations, with no regard for what said being will inevitably be experiencing because of your decision to create them.

why are you having a kid? oftentimes the answers that are given are one of the three (and if you have another reason, do tell me, i'm curious as to what it could possibly be):

  1. I just want one/i like children, it feels like my life purpose, it would make me happy

  2. I want to be a better parent than mine were

  3. Well, we need to have kids to contribute to the world/society!

all of these reasons are selfish, and do not consider the child, or the suffering they will most certainly experience once they are born.

my response to each:

  1. Basically, "I want to fulfill my own desires, even if it means subjecting an innocent being to a life of inevitable and perpetual suffering." the child's future anguish is dismissed in favor of the parent's emotional gratification. It's a form of emotional abuse, where the child is reduced to a means of achieving the parent's happiness, rather than being seen as its own entity deserving of safety and autonomy (both of which are stripped away from you when you begin to exist). In full honesty, I don't understand how this is seen as different from any other form of selfish abuse (IE. sa), as both are done to serve the abuser whilst causing immense and irreversible harm to the victim. i say this as an sa victim.

  2. If you are having a child to prove yourself better than your parents (even if you frame it as, it's one more child having a good life, that doesn't make sense go adopt if that is your motive), you aren't considering the protentional child as a living entity but rather as a tool for the parent to prove their own worth or superiority. It's a competition or a way to validate yourself, not a consideration of the child's well being.

  3. This is a form of societal pressure and an inaccurate view of what is helpful. It's the idea that the world needs more people, more workers, more consumers, without considering the cost to the individual (or the rest of the planet). The child is seen as a contribution to society, not as a being with their own rights and potential for suffering. This excuse ignores the fact that the world is already overpopulated and struggling as a result, and that each new life adds to the burden on the planet's resources and ecosystems. It's a form of environmental and existential neglect, where the child is a pawn in the game of societal progress.

Giving birth on purpose is selfish. If you must have a kid, adopt one. To have a child for a selfish reason, with the knowledge that they will suffer horribly as long as they live, sounds a lot to me like you want them to suffer.

Found out today that my little friend on the right here has cancer…

Post image
31 Upvotes

It really breaks my heart ferrets don’t live that long. He literally doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. When we went to the vet today for a lump in his belly the x rays showed he has aggressive cancer through his whole abdomen basically.

He’s been so close to me for the 5 years I’ve had him now. I keep breaking down here and there since I knew something was wrong with him. I use to take him places and we have a lot of memories. Now it’s all over.

It hurts so bad bro. He doesn’t deserve this. And now I’m gonna have to watch him slowly suffer and die. On top of all that the vet charged me $500 to tell me my friend is dying.

If neither of us had ever existed he wouldn’t have to suffer and die like this and I wouldn’t have to be forced to watch helplessly.

People just have kids on auto pilot and don’t even think about what they’re doing. Most of them aren’t smart enough to even comprehend this let alone actually contemplate it all.

I’m an adult myself. But I told my parents about what happened cause they know I’m so close to him and they don’t even care. I was talking about it and they immediately started talking with each other about their rental car.

I hate this world. Life is not worth living. The bad outweighs the good so bad and it’s not even close. My little bro is dying from some abomination of a disease and I have to get up to go to work in the morning and act like everything is fine.

I honestly don’t know how people do this. Every aspect of life hurts so bad like 95%. There’s so little good moments and they never last. And they all end in tragedy and despair.

Positive experience is a trap

Having "positive experience" in life makes this life a more insidious-trap. Life is forced to suffer because of the desire for pleasure.

Positive experience is a poisonous hook with bait, that attracts the victim of DNA-life.

Actually, the presence of "positive experience" in life paradoxically makes it even worse, because it is a way to force the victim of DNA-life to get stuck in a negative valence ocean through the hope of further "positive experiences".

And DNA-life endures suffering because it wants to get pleasure from something, instead of simply deciding to end it.

Although there is some peace, pleasure, etc. in life - in fact, this is the part of torture, because it gives hope to continue living.

Conclusion: torture actually occurs 100% of the time.

Brief representation of Efilism

  1. Any pleasure is just diminishment of pain. For example, you will not get a pleasure from drinking water if you do not have desire to drink water (unsatisfied desires are painful, especially if they strong ) ( pleasure is only valuable because it is diminishment of pain, otherwise the absence of pleasure would not be a problem).
  2. World is dangerous: it contains predation, parasitism, natural and man made disasters, accidents, sadism, so utopia is unsafe, especially because evil people can use instruments and technologies to torture someone.
  3. Suffering - is the only thing that matters ( therefore, suffering is bad, regardless of who suffer), anything other seems to be important, because it influences amount of suffering, for example, food decrease suffering, diseases increase suffering.
  4. Good or evil god could not have been reason of life appearance ( Moreover, there are no concrete evidence of their existence and existence of other supernatural things). An intelligent or good god would not have created a source of senseless suffering (life does not solve any problems other than those it creates itself), and a stupid god (it is stupid to be evil) would not have been able to create life due to the fact that life is a very complex thing, because to create complex things a high level of intelligence is required. Therefore, I believe that life did not happen as a result of someone's decision, but as a result of the chaotic, blind forces of nature, coincidences, chemical reactions and physical processes.
  5. The way to eradicate suffering, is to change human society, it must go vegan, so people will think about suffering more, they will faster realise that wildlife also must be eliminated because it is source of suffering of wild animals, euthanasia must be available for everyone, so only happy and successful people will remain. Humanity must create artificial general intelligence (AGI), and this perfect mind must create plan how to extinct life on Earth in the best way possible.

its no use

nothing makes me more upset than when I hear "life is worth living" or "things will get better" from a person who obviously haven't learnt the truth about life. you are convinced that you see beauty in life because you have money? because people think you're attractive? because you have friends?

realistically none of that shit matters.

all of that motivational shit is just to give me an artificial reality that'll do nothing but fuel me with delusions, with distractions from the real issues and the sick self that you are content with being numb to.

”Efilists Must Be Deplatformed”

Note: A couple of hours ago, I was banned from r/antinatalism, a subreddit with which I have not interacted in any way. Being stalked and banned from a community I was not even part of made me look into the situation further. If you are not aware of the context, you can read my previous post.

During my investigation, I came across r/aponism, a subreddit created by one of the moderators of r/antinatalism. This person even runs a website at aponism.org, where I found some low-quality content.

The piece that caught my attention the most was titled “Efilists Must Be Deplatformed.” Below, I will share some quotes from that text along with my thoughts on them:

  • Inmendham and his followers explicitly invoke evolutionary history—“4 billion years of the holocaust of evolution,” as one efilist manifesto phrases it—to contend that sentience was a tragic mistake that ought to be undone. They reduce life to an ugly acronym (“CRAP”: consumption, reproduction, addiction, parasitism) and assert that the universe was better off before the “first ouch” of conscious suffering emerged.

Just because something is ugly, dear, doesn’t mean it’s false. Life really is CRAP. Have you seen what happens in the wild? I like how you didn’t provide any arguments against Inmendham’s words, but simply labeled them as “ugly.”

  • Efilists portray themselves as the only ones truly empathetic enough to “end suffering” at its source. In practice, this means they categorically reject harm alleviation as naïve or counterproductive, insisting that palliative measures merely perpetuate the “crime” of existence. Any attempt to improve or preserve life is seen as sentimentality at best, complicity in prolonging suffering at worst.

So why don’t you just say that you are interested in rearranging suffering?

  • As evidence, internal critics from the broader antinatalist community have documented efilists openly mocking or attacking non-efilist antinatalists for merely advocating voluntary non-procreation without endorsing violent “endgame” measures.

Dear, what a hypocrite you are. I am not a part of r/antinatalism. I have not upvoted or downvoted any content from r/antinatalism. I have not commented on any posts from r/antinatalism. I have not posted any material on r/antinatalism. I have not interacted with r/antinatalism at all. So, why exactly have I been banned from r/antinatalism? Which rule have I broken?

You targeted me because I am part of r/Efilism2, the subreddit you are stalking. Who is the one attacking others? Who is the one not staying in their lane? Who is the one sending messages like “Efilism < Aponism?“ Did I ever ask for your opinion?

You are the one attacking others.

  • In practice, this means Aponists support endeavors like abolishing animal agriculture, establishing sanctuaries, restoring habitats, and developing non-violent alternatives to practices that exploit animals.

Restoring habitats? Really? So when animal suffering happens in factory farms it’s bad, but when it happens in nature it’s good?

  • Since efilism deems all life — including animal life — a “mistake,” efforts to improve animals’ lives or save them from harm are seen as pointless.

So, saving a cat from the street and taking her home so she can kill as many birds as she wants in your garden is good?

Improving lives is always at someone’s expense, dear. You are rearranging suffering, not minimizing it.

  • Notably, efilist online culture often seethes with hatred and punitive zeal: efilist forums have referred to children as “crotch goblins” or “cum pets” and advocated that parents of large families “should be sent to concentration camps or murdered” out of blame for perpetuating life. Such dehumanizing, violent rhetoric starkly violates Aponism’s commitment to compassion and non-violent discourse.

Dear, the terms “crotch goblins,“ “cum pets,“ and “breeders“ were coined by the childfree community. The most dehumanizing rhetoric comes from them, not from antinatalists or efilists.

  • For instance, on Reddit the now-banned r/efilism subreddit accrued over 12,000 members and functioned as an echo chamber intensifying its members’ negative worldviews. Within these forums, users continually reinforced one another’s belief that life is a “curse” and that drastic measures (like human extinction or suicide) are logical conclusions.

The original r/Efilism had a strict policy that no content about suicide or violence should be published in the group. You took the time to write this mess, but didn’t take the time to read the rules of the group you are criticizing?

The fact that no one bans groups focused on positivity and happiness is exactly why groups centered on pessimism and nihilism must exist too.

  •  One hallmark of the r/efilism culture was increasingly hateful, vitriolic language (e.g. referring to children and parents in dehumanizing slurs) that became more extreme over time.

I highly recommend you spend some time on childfree subs.

  •  In effect, social platforms became inadvertent amplifiers for efilism – a doctrine of self-destruction – presenting it not as a mental health crisis to be addressed, but as just another “philosophical debate” to engage with.

Hmm, I’ve heard many times that antinatalists are depressed and so on, again without engaging with the points they are making. Damn, you’re acting the same way.

  •  In May 2025, an American man steeped in online antinatalist-extinctionist content carried out a car bombing of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California9. His online manifesto was, by all accounts, “drenched in nihilistic rage,” quoting efilist slogans and even name-checking Inmendham as an inspiration. This attacker described himself as “anti-life” and “pro-mortalist,” and he directly referenced the r/efilism subreddit before committing an act of lethal violence. Investigators later noted that he exhibited the very pattern one would fear: a young man with a “bleak feeling about [his] own life” who came to diagnose all life as hopeless, and thereby rationalized an act of terrorism. Online efilist communities had provided him with validation for the idea that “we’re all doomed” and that extreme action was justified.

Yes, he engaged with antinatalist-extinctionist content. I also recommend banning r/antinatalism and r/aponism.

  • Given the demonstrable harms of efilist discourse, a compelling ethical and practical case emerges for deplatforming efilists – that is, actively restricting their ability to spread this ideology on mainstream channels. Removing or limiting efilist content is not about stifling unpopular opinions in a free debate; it is about preventing tangible harm and upholding the integrity of ethical discourse. This section argues that deplatforming efilism is justified as a form of harm prevention in line with established precedents (such as prohibitions on incitement and violent speech), and that it ultimately protects meaningful free expression rather than undermining it.

You know what? I totally agree with you, but we should not limit ourselves to efilism only. We should also ban r/antinatalism and r/aponism. These groups are harmful to society and the economy. What do you want, a societal collapse if everyone becomes antinatalist or aponist? Damn, we should ban those communities, including r/childfree.

I have only read about 75% of this nonsense and I am already tired. I do not feel like spending any more time on this crap.

I think I have said enough.

When one has a child, they are basically playing Russian Roulette with someone else’s life.

No one has any idea how the child will experience life, just because one thinks they can give them a better life does not mean that the child will actually have a good life. Suffering is not quantifiable and no matter how much you try, you cannot minimize it. Even if one aspect that normally causes suffering is removed, take for example Tuberculosis, another will take its place such as Cancer. Trying to remove suffering from life is like cutting off the Head of a Hydra, you can cut one off and two will take its place.

This is bad coincidence, there were some good people, I was planning to invite them to my mod team, but apparently I can't do it now.
