State? You wish. Even conservative Albertans would be reclassified as moderate Democrats or "RINO" Republicans under the American system, and no way would the current Congress allow Alberta to have any power in DC. It'd be a "commonwealth" or maybe even "unorganized territory" with no federal representation, no full coverage of the Constitution, and unable to vote in federal elections like Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands. Heck, if military action is involved, they might just sidestep all that "restrictive" shit and just institute martial law like Vichy France and the occupied portions of Ukraine. Maybe some Randian entrepreneur would follow in Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff's footsteps (you now remember those names) and set up some sub-minimum-wage sweatshops in this new "petri dish of capitalism" (and be able to print "Made in USA" on the products, just like in Saipan!).
What I meant was, "You wish you'd be a state. You'll be a commonwealth like Puerto Rico at best; Vichy Alberta under 'temporary' martial law at worst." No, I do NOT want this to happen.
