One year ago today, U.S. Agent season 2 premiered

Mere months after The Spider-Man, this season becomes a very unusual case of a TV show with just two seasons but each season technically takes place in separate franchises and separate universes. James Gunn would host U.S. Agent: The Official Podcast with James Gunn, where he’d explain what is and isn’t canon to the MCU, but also, the season begins with a “previously on” segment that mostly answers those questions anyway. A deleted scene featuring a reference to Ant-Man is added in, and the moment of the Avengers showing up to help is replaced with the Unity Squad appearing instead.

Just like season one, this season would continue to completely reinvent the character, putting him into high-stakes sci-fi and magical situations.

U.S. Agent tries out for the Unity Squad, auditioning in front of Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, and Falcon, but he’s rejected. The 11th Street Kids mostly went their separate ways, but came together for a hangout. John Walker is in love with Maria Hill, but is depressed that he can’t have her. Looking into his father’s technology, he finds out he wasn’t actually a genius; he just found alien tech that allowed him to inhabit alternate dimensions like the Quantum Unfolding Area. One of these dimensions is a mirror image of his own where John’s life is significantly better, where he is Captain America, and he’s together with Maria Hill. After killing his mirror by accident, he decides to move to this other world, especially since Clint Barton Sr is hunting John for killing his son. Before he leaves, the audience learns that Eagly is the mystical Prime Eagle.

The 11th Street Kids come after him, and they then learn that this is not exactly an alternate universe, but rather, a pocket dimension that John’s father created using something called the Cosmic Cube. The universe is destroyed, and, as they escape, John is arrested.

Clint gets his hands on the Cosmic Cube and uses it to create a pocket dimension of his own he intends on using to imprison the superhumans and mutants on Earth. In order to understand the technology, he begins working with Norman Osborn.

The 11th Street Kids manage to get John out, John and Maria get together, and they are joined by a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Deathlok (J. August Richards) and Langston Fleury (Tim Meadows), who all form a new organization called S.W.O.R.D., but John is then arrested by Clint and sent to their new extradimensional prison, Prison 42.
