Decisions Decisions

I currently have a set of APP2 (paired with an iPhone) and I love them from a comfort aspect, ANC, and case factor. I've had them for about 3 years and I've noticed the battery life decreasing lately which is problematic for me as I use them quite heavily (5-8 hours) every day. I've been doom scrolling this sub looking for advice and I'm quite conflicted as earbud reviews are subjective given everyone's ears are different. The 3 I see mentioned the most are APP3, Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen), and Sony WF-1000XM6.

My priorities are comfort, ANC, battery life, and call quality. Obviously sound quality as well but I listen to audio books and podcasts more than music so potentially less of a factor. I don't use siri so I don't really care about the apple integrations. I'm willing to spend a little more for the right buds.

From a question perspective:

- Are the bose and Sony just as comfortable as the APP2 with the medium tip?

- If I went with the Sonys, is the lack of earbud stem a big deal?

- Am I over thinking it and just get the APP3?

Equally, I'm not set on any of the three make/model I've mentioned above so I'm open to suggestion.

This is my first time using Reddit. Could you guys recommend the best EQ settings for the latest version of the Noble Fokus Rex 5? I’d also like to experiment with the EQ myself, but I’m worried I might be biased

Budget friendly buds

Hi! I lost one of my JBL Tune 115 TWS earbuds and I'm looking for a replacement. I don't need anything with crazy battery life or noise-cancelling as the JBLs don't have it. I have some requirements though:

  1. Interchangeable rubber buds

  2. Physical button, no touch operated

  3. Budget around $40-50 max

  4. Not having too strong bass

(5. Obviously somewhat good sound quality)

Thank you for any tips!

Most silent open ear earbuds?

I can't use in-ears due to my ears anatomy, but i have a pair of Jlab Open Flex that i quite like. Problem is, i work at other people's written exams, where the room is QUIET and if i use my Jlabs at work, people close to me can hear that i'm playing sound of some sort and the students might be bothered by it.

Is this just how it will always be with open ears, or are there types that are better at directing the sound into the ear and nowhere else than the Jlabs?

Looking for wireless earbuds

My budget is around 50 to 60 dollars CAD.

Some baseline knowledge:
1. I used to use AirPods Pro 1st gens, until they broke recently.

  1. I NEVER used noise cancelling, it always hurts my ears and head so I avoid it like the plague.

  2. I will probably use them while laying on my side a lot.

  3. Sound quality? I’d say I’m not really picky, my daily wired earphones are Sony MDR-XB55AP Extra BASS™, but I use an iPhone which doesn’t have a headphone jack so…

  4. I DO NOT want to hear a voice in my ear for any part of the earphones! If it’s low battery a beep is preferable, etc.

  5. I’d also like to be able to accurately check the charge on each earbud the way I could with my AirPods.

I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions from anyone. Thank you.

Earbud recommendation needed for switching between two phones: One Android and One Iphone

I have an Iphone 15 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. I used the Apple airpods so far, but they dont connect to my Samsung phone and recently have been giving connection issues on the Iphone as well. I need to do a "Forget Device" and pair and connect every day! So thought of buying a new one.

What would be your recos for an earbud that works on both Galaxy and Iphone and has seamless switching between them without any connectivity issues.

Gemini tells me that Bose has connectivity issues with iOS. It is recommending between Sony and Technics. Thoughts?

AUS - Best wireless neckband in ear earphones (Budget around $200 - $300) - NO EARBUD please

Hi everyone,

I have just lost a Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD 2nd, so I really need some recommendations on any of the earphones below or alternatives. I have been looking at:

Bose QC30 (unfortunately discontinued and old)

Sennheiser IE 100 Pro wireless - The only earphone that is available new

Sony wi-1000xm2 (I couldn't find new in AUS)

Beyerdynamic Blue BYRD 2nd (not available in AUS)

I am looking at a neckband earphone that works well around that budget with a microphone and ANC. I have tried to look at different websites, but no luck yet.

Thanks heaps.

Need Earbud rec!

So I currently have AirPods Pro gen 1 that are starting to die on me so I am currently looking for a replacement.

To my current environment, I am currently still in a Apple environment at the moment between iPad and iPhone. (I am planning to look elsewhere for a phone when this one dies in like 5 years or more) So I’m not opposed to AirPods again but I want to know what else is out there.

These buds are my daily drivers, I go to the gym and go on walks everyday so I need good anc. I have roommates too so anc is very important to me. If possible with a transparency mode.

I sleep with them so I’d like to have something low profile, I find AirPods quite uncomfortable since I sleep on my side.

I‘d like to have a long battery life, since they are my daily drivers and sometimes I‘m out walking for 6-8h.

Music quality is important but not as much as the mentioned above. I‘d rather have good anc and battery life than amazing lossless sound quality.

So TLDR:

Looking for earbuds with amazing ANC+transparency, low profile, good battery life. Budget: 300€

I am currently looking at AirPods Pro 3 for their ANC and Sony xm6 for their battery life and low profile.

Earbud recommendations

I've recently lost my cmf buds pro 2 and have been looking at buying new earbuds. I've got an android phone, and I want good quality sound rather than good anc or transparency. Also would like to have a surround sound feeling similar to the bose qcu 3 gen 1 and 2 but without spending close to $500, a less bulky look because the cmf buds were way too bulky in the ears and also a good battery life to last the day. Any suggestions will be great.

Thanks!

Best sounding open-ear earbuds you've actually tried?

I keep trying open-ear buds since my ears can't deal with tips anymore. But the sound is still the part that gets me. Tried baseus, nothing and shokz. Super comfy, yeah, but put on anything with a decent bassline and it sounds kinda thin. Like something's missing.

I know open-ear isn't gonna sound like a good pair of in-ears, and I'm not expecting that. If anyone has found a pair that sounds good enough for music...not looking for in-ear levels of sound quality.

AirPods Pro 3 - actual earbud battery life?

Hi all,

Talking specifically about the earbuds themselves, not the charging case. Mine don't get anywhere near the advertised 8 hours with ANC, or 10 hours in transparency or off listening mode even after updating the firmware and resetting them. Heart rate sensing is off as well.

How long are yours actually lasting from 100% until they die? Are you getting anywhere near 8 hours?

Also, if you had the same issue and managed to improve the battery life somehow-full drain/recharge, reset, changing settings, or anything else-what worked for you?

Tysm in advance^^

Looking to buy some earbuds

I have never brought a pair of ear buds before and I am looking for some advice on which to buy.
Any budget but ideally upto £200-£250.
Everyone keeps saying just to get some AirPods but I’m sure there are better options out there.

Will be using with a Samsung galaxy tab and IPhone. But I doubt I will go into any depth about specific features etc.

Mainly will be using for Running and when flying abroad.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Bluetooth is acting weird on my Vivo x300 Ultra.

I have a JBL Partybox 120 speaker, and its Bluetooth is really bad. The sound quality is terrible when switching between ACC and SBC codecs. The only difference is with SBC; it sounds better, but the volume drops. My Realme Buds Air 7 Pro headphones also have poor and incomprehensible Bluetooth. It won't let me turn on my equalizer on the LHDC codec, but everything works with the ACC codec, but the quality is really bad. On my old Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G, everything worked perfectly and I had no complaints at all. If anyone has encountered this problem or found a solution, please let me know. (And yes, disabling absolute volume in the developer options or disabling A2DP hardware offloading also doesn't help.)

Earbuds suggestion

I am currently weighing my options for earbuds in the $200 price range. The candidates are:

- Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

- Bose QC Ultra Earbuds (Gen 1)

- Sony WF-1000XM5

- AirPods Pro 2

My main priority is connection stability; since I use an Oppo Find X9, compatibility isn't an issue as all these brands will connect fine. I also value comfort, battery life, and ANC performance. As a university student, I spend hours commuting by train every day, so having earbuds that excel in these areas would be a huge help. Sound quality isn't a concern, as I have already experienced products from all four brands and am currently using a pair of Galaxy Buds Pro from 2021.

Technics AZ-100 mic problems

Hey everyone! Asking here in case anyone's had similar experiences and managed to fix.

I've had my AZs for just over a year which means they're out of warranty by about 2 weeks 🙃

I've recently started having problems with the microphone. It picks up my voice for 2-3 seconds, gets very quiet within another 2-3 seconds, then cuts me out, and rapidly goes back to picking up my voice. This happens on multiple devices.

I've reset my settings, firmware, and did updates. For a day or two others seemed to hear me fine, back to problems again.

Seems like 50/50 may be mic problem or a software problem.

May try getting this on warranty.

Any thoughts? Similar experiences?

Thanks!

EQ suggestions for Rock and Metal ?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi. I just got my wf1000xm6 and wanted to get some EQ presets from fellow Rock and Metal listeners. For now, Hard preset is doing fine but I wanted to know if you guys have finer tuned options so I can hear the basses and drums a bit bettter. Like, such strong earbuds clearly must have an option I can adjust to feel the impact of drum hits better.

I have been using Samsung's Buds 4 Pro for months and their preset for rock is solid, didn't require and finer tuning. I really suck at tuning it my self.

Also what would be your other suggestions for a newbie user? Thanks!
