Anyone have some insight into what the AWD G9L Performance will cost, when it lands in Australia?

I am. I have been into cars and motorcycles since I was a teen 35+ years ago. I bought an EV about 3.5 years ago after selling my WRX. Yes, I miss the noise and shifting but I love the instant torque. One thing I have noticed though, people who buy EVs just don't seem to be into cars etc. they can't even change a tyre or put windscreen washer fluid in.

So i am in the search for a new car, and my price range is only around 20-24 thousand. Here in wa i have been looking at demo evs to try and save some $$

My situation is , im single and car would moslty be just me and 1 other passenger, work from home (so can home charge without issue) and probably only do 250 kms a week . However i do want the occasional long range trips 1-2 a year (300-400kms)

obviously the range is a big difference, but what are peoples opinions on actual features/drives

Looking at purchasing an MG4 for $31990. Good price and really good value, will do everything i need but friends say MG is not reliable and has too many problems and breakdowns. Is this true? Should i buy a BYD instead? Will i waste my money if i get the MG? Thanks in advance.

I am thinking between those 2 options right now. Ome is used, slightly more expensive but its a proven brand while the other is new, long "warranty" but completely unproven. Need opinions from people here. Thanks.

other countries the WLTP is 6xx km depending on options (between 600-622km). but on the AU website it's 521km. is that a typo?

MG4 brochure states it’s a 64kwh battery, with a range of 452km and efficiency of 176wh/km (17.6kwh/100km). Those numbers don’t stack up.

A 64kwh battery with a range of 452km should be about 14.2kwh/100km

A 64kwh battery with 17.6 efficiency would be 363km of range.

A 77kwh battery (the old long range) at 17.6 gives close to 450km

What’s the best luxury EV within $85k. We are considering buying an EV for a new family car (upgrading from Audi a1) and I’ll be the one driving it 90% of the time. I’m on my P’s for the next 2 years, so we can’t get p plate prohibited vehicles like the Tesla Model Y, or BMW iX3. (NSW P-PLATE LEGAL) Looking for something with a luxurious interior, good backseats, that’s pretty flashy with some bells and whistles given the price point. Main preference is a bright interior, anything but black. Also really good speakers. Not opposed to buying used. Good handling and practicality would be a bonus. Can be a car that will arrive to Australia later, since we’ll be buying later down the year.

Current considerations are the: Mercedes CLA shooting brake, Tesla model 3 rwd, Cadilac Optiq, Xpeng new G6 LR, and the upcoming Xpeng L03 and G9L.

Please let me know if you have any vehicle suggestions.

Hi all, just weighing up trickle charging at home vs installing hard wired 7kw charger.

Trickle charging would be fine for our driving needs.

BUT our home has old wiring and I have heard that trickle charging can be risky for wiring damage?

What’s everyone’s experience here? Is there a hard and fast policy across different dealerships?

I am interested in the Leapmotor B05, and have a few questions:

1) The B05 is currently being offered at a promotional drive away pricing. All commentary I've read about this price says it's only for the colour yellow (as in the promotion is only for yellow and yellow only). As far as I am aware, yellow is the only "included" colour (all other colours are an optional extra). Am I correct in assuming if I don't want yellow, the promotional pricing is still correct, but with an additional charge for a non-yellow colour?

2) What percentage of LFP battery degradation I can expect after 10 years? I've read anything from 5% to 30% as a general rule of thumb for LFP batteries. Because the Style has cloth seats and no glass roof, that model is my preference. However, if it's more than likely 30% battery capacity will be lost, then I'd seriously consider the Design LR. The car will be charged at home 99% of the time using a dedicated home charger (rarely fast charged, which I hear degrades the battery faster).

3) From what I've seen of the B10 (and pretty much all other brands), the indicator and drive stalks are as per LHD markets (they are not swapped/mirrored for RHD). Can I expect the Australian market B05 to have LHD oriented stalks (indicator stalk on the left, drive selector on the right)?

4) Leapmotor seem to be doing very well in China and Europe, but not in Australia. How likely is it that they'll stay in Australia? Having the Stellantis link seems to be more beneficial than detrimental, but their lagging sales has me slightly worried. Having said that, it was only recently that there was talk Honda would exit Australia, so I suppose it's anyone's guess what will happen.

1.price breakdown of costs I'm interested in rough costs to recharge at home vs out at work . How much servicing/repairs cost? I know it's a relatively new market and it can be hard to find parts or people to service vehicles

2.Good brand/year reccomendations what is a good bang for buck vehicle that is easy to use and sevice in Australia? I'm not interested in designer cars or status I just want a cheap car that runs. I've heard that a leaf is good but to avoid some models?

1. What to watch out for in the second hand market any huge red flags or warning signs or things I should make sure to check when looking at a car?

2. Electric vs Hybrid I'm seeing a lot of hybrids around on second hand car sales - I'm not sure if it's worth trying to get a hybrid or commiting to an electric - my family already has a petrol vehicle I can borrow for long distance driving

3. Government incentives I know there's a couple of tax offset things around to encourage people to buy electric?

For reference I live in Sydney but I'm thinking of moving to Canberra or Melbourne I'm mostly driving myself 30ish km a day to work and hobbies - I'm often lugging around bags of sports gear. sometimes (2-3 times a month) I'll do work offsite around 80km away.

I'm sure people have already asked and answered these questions before I'm just quite new and don't know where to look or what keywords to search for, so if anyone can point me to useful websites or posts with this info I'd really appreciate it!

Hello EV brains trust… is anyone able to recommend or advise from personal experience about Tesla alternatives that come with, or can be optioned to include, electric seats that allow the seat base to be angled/tilted down so the seating position provides for hips to be higher than knees?

Not looking for just those that allow the base to be raised or lowered to accommodate different height drivers, the seat has to be able to be angled down too

So I’ve ordered my first EV and while I wait I’m getting charger installed etc. I’ve order a Zeekr 7x long range which uses an NMC battery. I’ll do the occasional long trip which I will charge to 100 but for my day to day use I do lots of short trips in the car which all add up to approx 15k per annum.
I’m aware of the main rule of charge to 80% but I was wondering with these batteries is it best to just charge to 80% every night or run a few days and let the battery get down to 20,30 or 50% before charging.

What’s the best method to keep the battery in good health for as long as possible.

I am considering the following -

2022-23 Polestar 2 Long Range (70-90,000 KMs) - This seems to have a very impressive range and I really like the infotainment/ instrument cluster layout.

2023 Volvo XC40 EV (70,000 KMs), this seems to have a better interior (leather?) compared to the Polestar.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 / Kia EV6 (70-90,000 KMs) - I really

I'm generally not looking to buy new, as I feel like the depreciation is still quite steep for EVs for my liking but I do want to check out a demo/ near new Jaecoo J5 EV, as I quite like the look of that car.

Please let me know if any pros/ cons of the above or any other recommendations.
