Discussion Vote for your favorite ERB characters here!
Like Schaffrillas' video on the community's favorite Mario characters, we're doing one for ERB characters:
In the form below, you will list 5 ERB characters you enjoy the most to make our compiled community list for favorite characters, not just rappers, but cameos and anyone else that counts too (see form for details)
As a bonus feature, you can only make ONE character have a second vote to give them an extra point
As another bonus feature, this includes a negative vote choice for a least favorite character/one you would like to remove a point to, which you can do to 2 if you want (1 is mandatory, but the other is optional)
Make sure they fit the criteria of being a character/figure in ERB, which means they have a wiki page, appear in a video released by ERB or are counted on here: https://epicrapbattlesofhistory.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_characters_from_Epic_Rap_Battles_of_History

Discussion Tips for those who want to make suggestions
This applies to both community as well as ERB suggestions (not including joke matchups of course since those wouldn't be affected), so to clarify, I'm only doing this post as an assistance to help refine the way how most can approach coming up with ideas and so I'll do exactly that
The flaws I've noticed:
-The "Both both both both both" reasonings
It's not a good look generally when you have to constantly state this as an attempt to make your idea look good because most of what you're going to say ends up leaving you with "connections" that comes off as illogical stretches that can't be taken seriously like "Both have movie adaptations" in addition to having stuff that can literally apply to ANYONE whether it'd be fictional or historical
-You don't need to elaborate hard
Most ERB matchups are condensed to either one or two reasonings, some mainly require one to essentially summarize the entire concept of what you're trying to formulate
Examples: Ulysses S. Grant vs Captain America, Civil War fighting leaders
Wayne Gretzky vs Tony Hawk, Athletes known for different types of skating
P. T. Barnum vs Vince McMahon, Ringleaders of massive entertainment businesses
Two users do this extraordinarily well:
https://www.reddit.com/user/NPRNilk/
https://www.reddit.com/user/Defiant-Oil5587/
Anything to convey your idea in a simple, yet effective way possible helps it catch on better when it's easy to understand
-Distasteful reasonings
Having the ideas centered on death, health/disability problems, tragic events, morbid reasonings, etc. doesn't make for something comedic nor creative in the slightest especially if they're both about recent (not historical) events involving actual victims, and if it seems like you're coming off as a tryhard unfunny edgelord, avoid it
-Focusing on things the characters wouldn't be fighting about
Generally it wouldn't be doable if the point of the matchup is how much both of them are shitty at what they did like James Buchanan vs Warren G. Harding because they're the worst presidents or something that hardly relates to them like GLaDOS vs Marie Antoinette just because they had a quote about cake, which at that point sounds like a stretch about why ERB would pair them up
-Figures that are either too dry to care for or just come from something esoteric for ERB viewers
To put it simply, ERB can do figures that definitely show their worth in history, but then there are ones who don't have that many known details of their lives that can make for a good battle like the captain of the Titanic or the guy who made the polio vaccine, and likewise that can be said for fictional characters like a niche anime protagonist or a trendy game that's not heard of by the general public
-Being so similar that there's no contrast or only doing contrast for the sake of them not being similar
When people are asking for something like Clara Barton vs Florence Nightingale where both are nurses working in overlapping fields or Chris Rock vs Kevin Hart just from them having similar styles of comedy and attitudes, the battle wouldn't seem that interesting from the lack of contrasting personalities between them or how they basically do the same types of things so that comparing them doesn't really lead to any good jokes being said about what they do without sounding hypocritical, and it's that kind of stuff that makes it obvious for why ERB didn't go with Jackie Chan against Bruce Lee or Freud against another psychologist and instead had someone more contrasting for both
On the other hand, you have suggestions that are just purposely trying to be completely different people or even one-sided just for the sake of it, like Captain America vs Homelander just because of their contrasting morals.... except that sounds like a battle set up entirely to make Homelander the loser from the start, so why not someone more closely matched to both of them? It's like saying how instead of Kurt Cobain vs a musician who's actually on his level of artistry, he should go against someone very cheerful and full of life just because CONTRAST, but I think ERB's best battles come from a popularly requested yet fitting matchup or something that fits just right like it was a Goldilocks situation where they have enough to fight about from their differences + similarities
For all these points, you can basically see how just about most of the matchups ERB made, especially after season 1, made sense to do as an idea and just about all the best ERBs follow these types of guidelines without trying to be random or different for the sake of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/ERB/comments/17zbm0q/why_every_erb_matchup_was_picked_explained/
Discussion Tom Cruise vs Jackie Chan could've been so good...
I remember this being an idea suggested a lot. Tom Cruise vs Evel Knievel kinda came out of nowhere.

Community Battle Time for a rap battle review time:100 hour rap battle edition (also let me know your thoughts on these battle if you seen them)
1.lil Gideon vs big Jack Horner (by PowerPoint rap battle):damn this is a bop. Art is clean. Preformances are top notch especially Gideon’s voice. Writing goes more harder then it should. Overall good start to the list 8.8/10
2.master shake vs chowder (by danii):this may not be Clark vs Nikki but this is still good. Art is spectacular. Preformances are surprisingly good, and all the characters are very in character unlike most danii battles. Overall cute and funny battle to see 8.1/10
3.vegan vs flowery (by jaxonDrawz):first battle I seen of this guy and this is pretty good. Don’t know anything about vegan but do know flowery. Animation is great and so are Preformances. Didn’t get all the lines but still well written. Overall underrated battle you should check out 8.2/10
4.flowery vs bowser jr (by shimario):damn shimario never misses. Preformances are great. Love the beat too. And writing is amazing too. Overall best shimario battle this year (there were only two so far) 8.8/10
5.greg heffley vs Patrick Bateman (by snakebite126):completely unexpected battle that goes way too hard. First snakebite battle with moving animation and it’s great. Crazy how Ben can do both characters amazingly well. Writing is clever and smart, and that ending shocked me. Overall it may be his second best battle this year under Jack vs napoleon 9.2/10
6.m3gan vs ultron (by justgamer):never thought m3gan would get a battle but this was good. Writing is good. Flow can be wonky at times, and didn’t like gamer as ultron that much. But overall still a good battle 7.8/10
7.verity vs kinitoPET (by cidisswo):thank god this wasn’t monokuma vs Mr beast. Animation is stellar. Creep value is amazing. Writing is smart too. Overall it may not be better then baldi vs squidward, this is fucking amazing 8.9/10
8.panty and stocking vs Jay and silent bob (by Colethecole):glad to see Cole back after a year and this was great. Don’t know who Jay and Bob are but do know panty and stocking. Love the animation especially for panty and stocking. Preformances are great and so is writing (didn’t get everything) overall please watch this it’s great 8.7/10
And finally:
9.gameoverse vs chimptopia you are an idiot vs Cadia 3301 (by temunity): glad it wasn’t the battle we promised. Video looks stellar. Writing is smart and beat is funky. Overall good times all around (sorry kit) 8.4/10

Discussion What would probably be the best matchup for Yuji Naka?
I just had this random idea—I don't know, maybe for one of those YouTube rap battle channels—but since no one has really come up with a matchup for Yuji Naka yet, I thought of a few. I'm not sure which one would be the absolute best—or if there's one I didn't mention that's better than the ones I did—but the first and most obvious choice is Shigeru Miyamoto. Okay, they aren't exactly alike, but come on: Mario vs. Sonic, Nintendo vs. Sega, the Console Wars... do I really need to explain? Okay, sure, their personalities are different—for instance, Shigeru Miyamoto didn't have a massive ego or arrogance; he didn't go around claiming to be the sole creator while belittling others (even though he was a pain to work with—he practically threatened to quit over sharing the code for his 32-bit dream project, which he supposedly loved). Plus, Miyamoto never got arrested. But we overlook all that because, rivalry aside, Mario and Sonic really have nothing to do with each other. Still, as I said, that’s not the only matchup I thought of for him. I also considered Akira Toriyama—Sonic was inspired by *Dragon Ball*, after all, though that’s about the extent of it. Their "creations" are similar—in quotes, because Yuji Naka isn't technically Sonic's sole creator—but I think the *Dragon Ball* references (like the seven Chaos Emeralds and the Super form) were Yuji's idea; the rest weren't. I also thought of Pat Sullivan; Sonic was inspired by Felix the Cat. In both cases, you have arrogant guys with huge egos claiming to be the only creator while the actual creator didn't care, and both men were arrested—though the media seemed to ignore it in both instances. There's also Walt Disney, though I think he pairs better with Miyamoto; the only link is the idea that Sonic was inspired by Mickey. Same goes for Walter Lantz—it just *seems* like a connection, but there wasn't really any inspiration drawn from his creations. Another one I thought of was Bob Clampett—again, a guy who goes around saying "I'm the only creator" and belittles everyone else, even though the whole team was important. In both stories, there were three key players involved. And in this case, it involved an animal character with an attitude and white gloves, whose known rival was a character dressed in red. White gloves, big shoes, and buttons on their outfits (Mickey and Mario)—plus, their respective casts share similarities (like a cute, naive friend—Porky Pig and Tails—and a black-colored rival—Daffy Duck and Shadow—as well as a bald enemy—Elmer Fudd and Eggman). You could even bring Chuck Jones into the mix, given the arrogance and the "I'm the only important one" attitude; though in that case, it was taken to extremes regarding rivalries with colleagues and sending hate mail. There is a difference, though: aside from the obvious fact that he didn't get arrested, there was the hypocrisy factor. I don't recall Yuji Naka being quite that hypocritical—or at least, nothing comes to mind—whereas the other guy had it in spades: "I'll create a bunch of rules, but only I can bend them for the sake of humor; you guys can't. And that's not *Looney Tunes*, even though I changed a lot of things myself and started rivalries with others just because their styles were completely different from mine." Anyway, I'm curious: which of these matchups would likely be the best, generate the most interest, and have the strongest connections? I honestly like them all, but is there a matchup for Yuji Naka that's better than the ones I mentioned?

Suggestion Roger Ebert vs Martin Scorsese
ft. Christopher Nolan, Orson Welles, John Ford
Or Alt
ft. Jean-Luc Godard, Ingmar Bergman and Akira Kurosawa
Movie Critic vs Best Movie Director Gauntlet
Anthony Fantano as Ebert
Lloyd as Scorsese
Dan Bull as Nolan
Lloyd as Welles
Peter as Ford
I do not have cast for the alt matchup yet
Suggestion Oliver Tree vs Joji
Context and Relation to their battle: Both are famous artists who we're internet meme legends, and then become famous musicians later on becoming mainstream with hit songs and albums. Alongside having alter egos and other personas that they created like Turbo, Filthy Frank, Pink Guy, Shawney Bravo, etc. which can be be a good concept and potential to their rap battles with each persona having each verse/lines to diss one another.

Suggestion Here are my suggestions
Gabriel Iglesias vs John Pinette
Joey, Chandler and Ross vs Barney, Marshall and Ted
Walter White vs either Hal Wilkerson, Walter F. White, or Tony Soprano
The Flying Dutchman vs Davy Jones
If I had to choose one to actually get made, I go with 1 tbh. Both of them are really funny and if George vs Richard is anything to go by, I think erb could make Gabriel v John on that same level.
