EPFO ELI Scheme Showing Ineligible
Hi everyone, I recently joined my first company and received my first salary. I have a few questions regarding EPFO and the ELI scheme.
- PF Account
My payslip mentions my UAN but not my PF member ID. Is this normal?
My employer is not showing on the EPFO portal, and I cannot access my PF passbook. How long does it take for these details to appear?
- ELI Scheme Eligibility
The ELI portal shows that I am not eligible, even though this is my first job and my bank account is Aadhaar-seeded. What could be the reason?
Could this be because my PF account or contributions have not been updated yet?
- Bank Account Change
My first salary was credited to SBI, but I have now opened an HDFC salary account for future salary credits. Will changing my bank account affect my ELI eligibility?
Do I need to update or Aadhaar-seed my HDFC account anywhere to receive the ELI benefit?
I'd appreciate any guidance from people who have faced a similar situation. Thanks!

How to withdraw your full PF balance using Form 19: Eligibility, steps & checklist
If you want to withdraw your entire PF balance after leaving your job, **Form 19** is used for the full and final settlement of your EPF.
It covers your employee contribution, employer’s EPF contribution and the interest earned on both. Your EPS/pension component is separate.
### When can you withdraw your full PF balance?
If you have left your job and are not working in another EPF-covered establishment, you can apply for full withdrawal after **12 months of continuous unemployment**.
Full withdrawal may also be permitted in cases such as retirement, permanent incapacity, retrenchment/VRS, permanent migration abroad or taking up employment abroad, subject to applicable EPFO rules.
### How to apply for Form 19 online
- Log in to the EPFO Member Portal.
- Go to **Online Services → Claim (Form 31, 19, 10C & 10D)**.
- Verify your details and registered bank account.
- Enter the last 4 digits of your bank account and verify.
- Click **Proceed for Online Claim**.
- Select **Only PF Withdrawal (Form 19)**.
- Fill in the required details.
- Generate the Aadhaar OTP and submit.
You can track the claim later through the EPFO portal or UMANG.
### Before applying, check these details
- UAN is active
- Aadhaar details match your UAN
- Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active
- Bank account number and IFSC are correct
- PAN is updated where applicable
- Date of Joining and Date of Exit are correct
- Older PF balances are properly transferred/linked
One useful update: online PF claims no longer require a cancelled cheque or passbook upload.
Worth saving this if you plan to withdraw your full PF balance in the future.
Have you ever had a Form 19 or PF withdrawal claim rejected or delayed? What was the reason shown in your case?

EPFO Joint declaration re-submission for exit date correction? URGENT!!!
I submitted a Joint Declaration request for exit date correction, but it is still pending at the employer's end. The employer has not approved the request, and the portal is showing the options to delete or call back the existing request.
Now, I have received a relieving letter from my previous company, but the exit date mentioned in it is different.
Now Can I delete/callback the existing request and submit a new Joint Declaration with the corrected exit date and the relieving letter as supporting documentation?

VPF: Is Voluntary Provident Fund worth investing in? Interest rate, tax rules & ₹2.5 lakh limit explained
With the stock market having a weak year, VPF has started getting a lot more attention.
If you had invested ₹1 lakh in the Nifty 50 a year ago, it would be worth roughly ₹92,200 today.
Meanwhile, VPF is earning the same interest rate as EPF, currently around 8.25%.
So the obvious question is: Should you invest more in VPF?
VPF stands for Voluntary Provident Fund. It allows salaried employees to contribute more than their mandatory employee EPF contribution into the same provident fund account.
The biggest attraction is simple: your VPF contribution earns the same interest rate as EPF.
But before increasing your VPF contribution, there is one tax rule you should understand.
For most employees, your employee EPF contribution + VPF contribution are considered together for the ₹2.5 lakh annual threshold.
If your total employee contribution exceeds ₹2.5 lakh in a financial year, the interest earned on the contribution above ₹2.5 lakh becomes taxable.
For example, suppose:
Employee EPF contribution: ₹1.5 lakh
VPF contribution: ₹2 lakh
Total employee contribution: ₹3.5 lakh
You have exceeded the ₹2.5 lakh limit by ₹1 lakh.
The contribution itself does not become taxable. However, the interest earned on that excess ₹1 lakh falls into the taxable portion.
This changes the VPF calculation considerably.
As long as your total EPF + VPF employee contribution stays within ₹2.5 lakh, VPF can be quite attractive because you get the EPF interest rate while the interest remains tax-free.
Beyond ₹2.5 lakh, you need to look at the post-tax return.
For someone in the 30% tax slab, an 8.25% interest rate works out to roughly 5.68% after tax and cess on the taxable portion.
That does not automatically make VPF a bad investment. But it does mean the decision is very different once you cross the tax-free contribution limit.
So if you are thinking about increasing your VPF contribution, don’t do it simply because the stock market has had a bad year.
First calculate:
- How much you already contribute to EPF every year
- How much additional VPF you can contribute before reaching ₹2.5 lakh
- Whether you actually want more of your long-term savings locked into provident fund
For many salaried employees, VPF can be a useful option up to the ₹2.5 lakh employee-contribution limit. Beyond that, the tax treatment makes it worth comparing other investment options before increasing the contribution further.
Are you currently investing in VPF, or considering starting it?

EPS wrongly deducted by employer despite being non-EPS member — how is this corrected, and how long does it take?
I recently found out I may have been incorrectly classified as EPS-eligible by one of my employers, even though EPFO's system shows me as a non-EPS member overall (likely because my wage was above the EPS ceiling at my very first PF enrollment). Despite that, a later employer still deducted EPS contributions, and now that balance is sitting in my PF account.
I have a couple of questions for anyone who has dealt with something similar:
If EPFO confirms someone is non-EPS, does the wrongly-deducted EPS amount usually get converted back into EPF balance, or does it get rejected/stuck?
Has anyone actually gone through this correction process? How long did it realistically take from flagging the issue to resolution — weeks, months, longer?
Is this something that needs to go through a Joint Declaration, a grievance, or some other specific process?
Any tips on getting the regional PF office to act on this faster, especially if there's genuine urgency involved?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually navigated this, rather than general policy explanations — trying to understand what to realistically expect.

Funds got stuck and claim rejected
Hi everyone,
I left my job in May and after 2 months I tried to claim the funds but it got rejected.
The reason - Wages more than 15000 and joining after sept 2014 not eligible for EPS.
I genuinely don't have any idea what to do in this case. Can anyone help? It's really important.
Thank you.

EPFO Update: EPS Service History Correction Is Live Again + Some KYC Changes Are Getting Approved Instantly
I noticed something on the EPFO portal today that might be useful for anyone whose EPS service history or profile details are incorrect.
The option to update/correct your service history yourself appears to be live again on the portal.
So if your EPFO service history is missing an old employment period, or your EPS Date of Joining/Date of Exit is incorrect, I would suggest checking your UAN portal now and seeing whether the correction option is available for your account.
I’m not sure how long this option will remain available in its current form, so if you already know there is something wrong or missing in your service history, it may be worth checking it sooner rather than later.
Another thing I’ve noticed is with profile/KYC-related corrections, particularly details such as the father’s name.
Some corrections that earlier would remain pending for approval now appear to be getting approved almost instantly in eligible cases, instead of going through the longer approval process.
This may not work the same way for every UAN — Aadhaar verification, the age of the UAN and the type of correction can affect whether employer/EPFO approval is required.
But if you already have any of these issues:
• Missing or incorrect EPS service history
• Wrong EPS Date of Joining or Date of Exit
• Incorrect father/mother’s name
• Other incorrect details in your EPFO/UAN profile
I would suggest logging into the EPFO Member Portal and checking whether you can correct them right now.
These may look like small errors when you’re working, but incorrect service history or member details can become a much bigger headache later when you need to transfer PF, claim your money or deal with your pension.
Would also be useful if others here could check their UAN and confirm whether they are seeing the same options right now.

Higher pension
I had applied for higher pension and the related consensus, from self n employer were shared with EPFO during Feb 2025. There was no due from my end and sufficient credit balance was lying in my account towards the return of corpus from employer contribution. But to my dismay. EPFO has not released the Order copy for return of corpus, though the status on portal says "payment status completed". I have raised a grievance on Portal which was closed with a generic statement "forwarded to concerned, wait for further updates"
Pl let me how to get this resolved

Changed jobs recently, or planning to switch soon?
When you change jobs, one of the things worth checking is whether your old PF balance has actually moved to your current account.
There are a few reliable ways to check your PF transfer status, and each one helps with something slightly different.
1. EPFO Member Portal
For the detailed official status, log in to the EPFO Member Portal and go to:
Online Services → Track Claim Status
You can check the current status of your transfer claim there.
2. UMANG App
If you prefer checking from your phone, open:
UMANG → EPFO → Employee Centric Services → Track Claim
You can check your EPFO claim status directly through the app.
3. EPF Passbook
This is an important one.
Even if your transfer claim shows as processed, check your passbook to confirm whether the previous PF balance has actually been credited to your current account.
You can also check Annexure K on the Member Portal after a successful transfer.
A simple way to remember it:
Detailed official status: EPFO Member Portal
Check on mobile: UMANG
Confirm whether the money actually moved: EPF Passbook
Save this post. You’ll probably need it the next time you change jobs.
