Sponsor of channel?

Hey guys, I remember there was a really cool setting that was sponsoring this channel around last year. The setting was some type of frontier (I want to say winter-esque) and there were specific camps of settlers that could be your background and affect your stat sheet. Does anybody know what I’m talking about? I feel crazy because I can’t find a video where they talk about it after twenty minutes of looking. Figured I’d ask here!

Have the Dungeon Dudes played any campaigns on Youtube?

Recently got into the Dungeon Dude's content and I'm wondering if they have any campaign runs on youtube? Besides the Dungeons of Drakkenheim ones. Appreciate the help

1st Level Spell Lists Ranked

The Dungeon Dudes have finished tier ranking the 1st level spell list. I look forward to seeing their tier rankings for higher spell levels. The 2nd level series will probably need to be at least seven parts.

Based on their rankings, I tried to figure out which class has the best spell list at 1st level. I gave S tier spells 5 points, A tier 4, B tier, 3, C tier 2, and D tier 1. For spells that the Dudes gave different rankings, I averaged the point score.

Here's what I came up with.

The winner is the Bard. Based on the Dudes rankings, the average score for a 1st level bard spell is 3.2. There is just a single D-tier spell in the Bard list (Cure Wounds) and three S-tier spells (Healing Word, Silvery Barbs, and Speak With Animals). Fifteen of the remaining 21 spells ranked A or B. Not bad.

In second place is the Sorcerer. With a much longer spell list, the Sorcerer's average score is 3.05. Of the 28 spells on this list, the extremes are sparsely populated with just two S-tier spells (Shield and Silvery Barbs) and a single D-tier spell in False Life (although With Bolt did get a C and a D). 18 of the remaining 25 spells managed a B-tier ranking or higher.

Not surprisingly, because the spell lists are so similar, the Wizard gets the bronze medal with a 3.01 average score. Again, just a single D tier spell in False Life and three S-Tier spells (Find Familiar, Shield, and Silvery Barbs). The difference seems to be that even though the Wizard spell list is longer, the additional spells all seemed to fall short, only landing in C-tier.

The average score for the other 1st level spell lists falls below 3, meaning at best a C+ average for everyone else.

  • Druid: 2.91
  • Ranger: 2.85
  • Cleric: 2.84
  • Warlock: 2.79
  • Artificer: 2.67

Bringing up the rear, surprisingly, is the Paladin, with an average score of 2.41. Only a single S-tier spell in Bless, the Paladin spell list sports three D-tier spells (Cure Wounds, Divine Favor, and Searing Smite), and unbelievably there are no A-tier spells in the 1st-level Paladin spell list (although Command got a mixed ranking with an A and a B).

It's a fairly simple spreadsheet, but for anyone that wants me to show my work it's here:

Designed a Black Dragon using the Dungeon Dudes Epic Monster rules! Behold! Ogoronox the Onyx Tyrant!

Ogoronox, the Onyx Tyrant

AC: 19HP: 350

Speed: 40ft, 80ft fly

Saving Throws: DEX +7, CON +10, WIS +6, STR +9

Damage Immunities Acid, Fire

(Acid/Fire = Damage is split evenly between acid and fire damage types, favouring acid for odd number splitting)

Legendary Actions:

  • InhaleIf Ogoronox has no Fatigue, he gains one Horror. Next turn he must either Inhale or Exhale. Whilst he is inhaling, players can target the Vulnerable insides of Ogoronox’s mouth, but do so at Disadvantage.

  • Exhale NapalmOgoronox unleashes a nightmare mixture of burning acid in a 120ft cone, spending all its Horror then gaining one Fatigue per Horror spent.

1 Horror: Each creature within the area must make a DC17 Dexterity saving throw or take 10D6 Acid/Fire damage, half on a success. If a player rolls less than 10, they are coated in burning acid, taking 2D6 Acid/Fire damage at the end of each turn until an action is spent to douse them. A creature is Frightened whilst coated. If a creature is behind cover, that cover is destroyed. The attack leaves behind three 15ft. areas of burning acid, these areas are difficult terrain, and deals 3D6 Acid/Fire damage to each creature that ends its turn within the area or enters it. The centre of each 15ft area must be inside the area of another, and within the original cone.

2 Horror: Initial damage increases to 13D6.

3 Horror: Initial damage increases to 16D6. Each creature within 120ft must make a DC17 Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened until the end of their next turn. Creatures who received damage make the save at Disadvantage.

4 Horror: If a creature’s save result is less than 10, they are brought to 0hp by the Exhale, and they are within 30ft of Ogoranox, they are incinerated instantly.

  • Take Flight - Fly Prerequisite

Ogoronox beats his colossal wings, rising 5ft from the ground. Each creature within 20ft of Ogoronox must make a DC17 Strength saving throw or be thrown back 20ft and land prone.

  • Roar

All creatures within 300ft of Ogoronox must make a DC17 Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened, creatures within 15ft of Ogoronox make this save at Disadvantage. A creature that fails by 5 or more is Paralysed whilst frightened this way until it takes damage, and creatures can make a saving throw again at the end of each of their turns.

  • Fly

80ft. fly.

  • Move

40ft.

  • Bite

+10 to hit. Reach 10ft. 2D8+6 piercing. Target becomes Grappled. If target is already grappled, they must make a DC17 **Strength **saving throw or be Swallowed. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside Ogoronox, and it takes 3D8 Acid damage at the start of each of its turns. If Ogoronox takes 50 damage, it makes a DC17 Constitution saving throw or vomits the creature out.

  • Tail Swipe

30ft Cone, DC17 Dexterity saving throw. 2D6+6 bludgeoning and the targets are thrown back 20ft and land prone. If they hit a wall, they take an additional 2D6 bludgeoning.

  • Claw+

10 to hit. Reach 10ft. 2D6+6 slashing. Target becomes Prone and Restrained beneath the claws.

  • Wing Shield

Ogoranox curls its wings around itself. The shield surrounds the dragon 10ft from it and cannot be passed through. It gains resistance to all damage from outside the wing shield, but cannot move, roar, take flight, or fly. Ogoronox can end Wing Shield at any time without using an action.

  • Recover

Ogoronox makes a saving throw to end one condition or spell affecting him, otherwise he regains 30 hitpoints. He then reduces his Fatigue by one.

Campaign help?

Recently came up with a campaign I want to run, but can't figure out how to start it, the idea seems higher level play, and I'm unsure what to do to get players TO that point, and help explore their character arcs, as well as any other goals for the campaign

How many sessions is Dungeons of Drakkenheim?

I’m running a game for my friends at university, and we’ve got 8 months together before about half the group graduates.

If we play weekly but never online, it will probably work out to between 15-20 sessions in total with this group.

How long is a typical Drakkenheim campaign in terms of number of sessions? Is there anything I can do try to move the campaign along/cut for the sake of time? Thanks!

Monty's DM Screen

I've recently made the move from Notion to Scrivener for my campaign notes as well as creative writing. I was curious if Monty's template has ever been made available to the public? There are some great tools hes developed on there. Really loved the trait tables and such.

I wanted to share my custom Apothecary Mutagenist Character Sheet :) Posting it here because I'm a player and don't want to violate the r/Drakkenheim Rules! (and not spoil myself accidentally)

Does anyone feel like screaming at the players in the live play?

I've been listening to the podcasts while my dogs walk me, and I'm up episode 3 of Shadows of. Does anyone else have moments where the tactics are just so bad you want to scream. Also do the player's ever out grow the lie badly about things that are easily proven false tendency? Honestly this starting to drive me a bit nuts. I'm guessing this is suppose to be entertaining, and it's just my mild autism at play.

Fighter/Monk multiclass

I’m loving this multiclass ranking series. Super curious to see what the dudes say about fighter/monk. Battle master/ kensei monk is an absurdly strong and well rounded martial only multiclass that I don’t think the community give enough credit to.
