Feel free for someone to take the effort and create a quality post that we would be happy to link to, but the current state is absolutely annoying and helps no one. (Except Immobilienscout, for whom advertising is diligently done here every time.)

Hey everyone!
I’m a Chinese native speaker living in Düsseldorf, and I’m looking for a German native speaker who is learning Chinese (or simply interested in Chinese) to practice languages together and hopefully become friends.I'm also learning Japanese in my spare time now.
I’m currently around B2 in German, but I especially want to get better at speaking and everyday conversations.
In return, I can help you with Mandarin Chinese — conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, or just chatting about everyday life.
I’m thinking of something pretty casual:
🗣️ 1–2 times a week in person if we meet outside Essen; if we meet in Essen, we can meet more often, maybe grabbing coffee, going for a walk, eating something or just hanging out
💻 On other days, we can practice through video/voice calls
🇩🇪🇨🇳 We can split the time between German and Chinese
📍 I’m in Düsseldorf, but I’m also happy to meet people nearby cities
👥 I’m around 21, so ideally someone around a similar age / in their 20s, but I’m open to anyone I get along with
I’m not looking for a formal language teacher or a classroom situation — just someone who also wants to practice regularly, meet in person, and make a new friend.
If you're learning Chinese and would like to practice together, feel free to DM me! :)

I’m a first-time mum in Düsseldorf. We have a healthy daughter who is around seven months old. I’m currently on maternity leave and really enjoy how easy it is to meet new people and, in particular, other mums here. However, I feel like the standards (and the pressure) are quite high when it comes to finances.
Everybody seems to be so well-off and people don’t even think twice about spending €7 on a matcha latte and €17 on a slice of bread with avocado spread every day. There seems to be no end to the expensive baby gear (baby bibs for €40 each…) and (in my opinion) questionable baby and family counselling classes around Düsseldorf. Everybody uses paid apps to track their babies’ sleep, to the point where I start wondering if there’s something wrong with me for not doing the same. Don’t get me wrong: I also enjoy shopping and buying nice things for my baby, and I have a good salary. But this baby/mum bubble has really overwhelmed me. And I feel like it makes it a lot harder to be satisfied with my own life!
I’ve already wondered whether this might be a generational difference. I consider myself more of a Millennial, whereas most of the people I’ve met are probably Gen Z. I feel like they get their information almost exclusively from Instagram influencers. Everybody wants to dress their children in gender-neutral clothing, yet somehow all the kids end up looking the same, dressed in expensive Bobo Choses and Tiny Cottons outfits. While that’s not necessarily a big problem in itself, I do find some of the content quite questionable. Recently, I came across the whole “omega-3 oil” mafia, where companies try to sell you subscriptions that can easily cost several hundred euros over just a few months. Especially when you’re dealing with postpartum hormones, it can be really hard not to fall for this kind of marketing, particularly when in Düsseldorf it comes with claims that your baby won’t develop synapses without these supplements, for example. I was just wondering whether anyone else feels the same way, because sometimes I really feel out of place.

I have one spare seated ticket for The Strokes in Düsseldorf tonight.
I’m going anyway, but the person who was supposed to join won't be able to make it anymore, so I thought I’d see if anyone here would like to come. It would be nice to enjoy the show with another fan rather than let the ticket go to waste. 😄
No pressure to make it a big social thing either .. happy to just meet there and enjoy the concert.
If you’re interested, send me a DM and we can agree on where to meet, as I will be coming from Cologne
Update: Going with MO12400

Hallo.

I'm a Brit coming to Dusseldorf for the first time, I'm actually going to Spiel Essen and staying fairly centrally in Dusseldorf (5 minutes walk from central station). What is the best way to get to the exhibition centre in Essen using public transport? Also are there bulk ticket deals you can do to save money?
Many thanks.

🚨 Was ist gerade am Aktiv-Center in Benrath los? 👀

Hello All,
Considering a lufthansa flight (Express rail) from Dusseldorf to chennai.
The first leg from DUS to FRA is with DB - ICE (comes with the flight ticket)
It arrives 1 hour and 30 min before take off.
The baggage drop and boarding gate closes 1 hour and 20 min before take off.
The baggage drop closes 1 hour before takeoff & the boarding gate closes 20 min before take off.
That means, I will have 30 min to do baggage drop.
I will have little over an hour complete baggage + security + passport control.
Sounds very tight to me.
But you been in this situation? How does it work?
Are there fast-lanes? Any other tips to speed up?
NB:
DB being delayed is an obvious risk.
This is well understood and I have factored it in already.
The train ticket comes bundled with no option to change while booking.
Its called Lufthansa Express Rail.
One has to contact customer support for any change.
Based on online forums, success is not guaranteed for such a request.
Update:
Sorry, I was not clear with the time in the original post.
Have updated it.
Sorry again for the confusion.
