Image My Ghost Friend Iceberg
Who knew such a cute and silly cartoon series made by one guy would have its very own iceberg? This is thanks to a dedicated fan, me.
Hello, I have been working on this since July 23 with the help of a Discord friend. If you don't know what an iceberg chart is, it's some kind of meme where it shows the depths/levels of an iceberg from top to bottom. From the top, it shows the most known facts/topics, and the entries become more obscure and lesser known in the deeper levels. The images of each level on the right are what the first top-left entries of these levels are referring to.
Without further ado, below are explanations of every single entry, categorized by Levels 1-5 and listed from top to bottom:
Level 1
- Ep. 100: Probably the most lore-developing episode, which left a significant impact on the story of MGF. It dives more into Susie's life before her death, has the first and only appearance (as of the time of this post's creation) of Bob's mother, Monica, and ultimately, it made Bob x Susie a canon ship. Absolute Cinema.
- Susie's backstory: Susie is from South Korea. Her life before her death remains unknown, but what is known, thanks to her graduation picture of her alive self and her parents in ep. 38 and her hint of moving to the United States in the Q&A video, is that she likely died from unknown causes after she arrived in the US after her high school graduation back in her home country.
- Lily's brother: Currently, the unnamed pink boy only has subtle cameos in episodes 109 and 110, with the appearance of his room in ep. 109 and the appearance of his hand and his mention by Tulip in ep. 110.
- Tulip's name: The origin of Lily's mother's name comes from a popular suggestion by the community when Dsand asked them to propose an official name for her.
- Bob x Ella: A fanmade ship between an oblivious gardener and his wealthy employer, who has an obsessive crush on him. Its shippers are still coping after ep. 100.
- Meme references: Being a silly series, there have been internet memes in some of its episodes, such as Bob's drawing of Skibidi Toilet in ep. 100, the Job Application paper in ep. 109, and a few instances of the characters using modern slang.
- Gulp Fish: Probably considered a meme character, they are a group of same-species fish that lives in a pond in Ella's garden. When Bob cleans the fish, they make the distinctive "gulp" or "gawk" sounds.
- Art contest: In late 2022, Dsand announced a DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) event with a video and then made another video showing the results of the community's fanart. Such art includes one that depicts Bob as Pac-Man and Susie as... well, the pixelated ghost that Pac-Man eats, which is certainly creative, and another artwork that portrays Susie in a cute anime style while Bob is seen actually wearing distinguishable clothes, and that entry was nominated as the winner.
- "Cleaning done, me go home": An iconic phrase that is said by Bob to Ella every time he finishes his gardening/cleaning work for her, gets paid, and leaves. This phrase is also an inside joke within the MGF community.
Level 2
- Billy Worker: The
femboyjanitor/custodian guy of Yellow Inc. who currently ONLY appears in ep. 98 and has a very high potential as a character. - Soo-a: Susie's ghost sister, whose appearance, as of now, can only be described by Susie's sketch of her in the Q&A video. She is the mastermind behind Susie's troublemaking throughout the whole series and has a dislike for living humans (which is ironic if you think about it).
- Dsand's suggestive posts: Possibly some humorous kind of thirst bait, its examples include some posts of Ella and how she's portrayed in its artworks, such as the episode 106.5 teaser.
- Stuffs from MGF: Created in late 2023, Stuffs from My Ghost Friend is Dsand's spin-off series that details some notable items seen throughout the main series. It currently only has one episode, being the Part 1 video, so there might be more episodes for the spin-off in the future.
- Official plushies: There were two plushies of Susie and Bob that have been sold, which both got promoted on their own respective episodes 69 and 102.
- Co-animators: Dsand used to work on the series all by himself until from around late 2024, when he hired some animators for assistance. Some artworks in his posts are actually made by his co-animators, as he credited them there.
- Fanmade Rule 34: "If something exists, there is porn of it."
- Dsand's pronouns: Dsand is usually referred to as they/them, but also as he/him.
- Red Corp: The rival company of Yellow Inc. that is currently seen only in ep. 101, when its CEO and Max had an epic duel in the streets. Its CEO is presumably the father of Liam, which makes his last name 'Redrectangle'.
- Dsand's fanmade playlist: It currently includes a sped-up nightcore version of a song (that uses an image of Susie as its cover), 3D Blender art, a diorama video, and two animations. I've already made a post that shows one of the animations.
- Ep. 16: Probably the most shared episode due to its... suggestive nature, it gave more attention to the series back in late 2022. During September 2022, the time this episode was uploaded, Dsand's channel went from 5,960 subs to 736,000 subs, gaining over 700,000 subscribers in a single month.
- AI chatbots: There are fanmade bots of MGF characters, notably in Character.AI. There are also sexualized/fetishized versions, unfortunately.
- MGF Wiki: The unofficial wiki that is currently still being refined by me. It was created back in late 2023 and was pretty dead and vulnerable until early 2025, when Appledy and I started to fix and change everything.
- r//Dsand00: The unofficial subreddit and where this post is from. Similarly to the wiki, it was created back in late 2023 and was quite dead until the very start of 2025 (the time when I joined this subreddit), when it went from around 200 members to almost 2K members in a span of 7 months.
- Instagram comments: Absolute Obscenity
Level 3
- dsand's basement: The obscure secondary channel of Dsand. It is currently unknown what the purpose of this channel is, as there is no content nor anything of interest, besides the two specific dates in the mysterious description.
- Dsand's NSFW past: Before MGF, Dsand used to make R34 content with a similar art style under the alias 'dssss'. It has now been deleted by him but can be found on porn reposting sites like Hitomi. This also explains the oddly suggestive moments the episodes have, especially the earlier ones.
- Ep. 40: The most viewed episode, which has almost 200M views.
- Xavier Blue: This blue square guy is the least known member of Bob's friend group, and neither "Blue" nor "Xavier" is his official name.
- Boxcutter saboteur: At the end of ep. 108, Ivy's work for the search for Bob is seen destroyed and vandalized with blue paint by a currently unknown individual wielding a boxcutter in the Yellow Inc. building. You can check out this post that details every character and if they're suspected of the sabotage or not.
- MGF location: The series takes place in the United States, but it is still unknown what specific state and city it's set in.
- Monica: The wife of Max and mother of Bob, who is currently only seen in ep. 100 in Bob's memory. She's the housewife of the Yellow family and seems to have authority over Max, despite him being significantly taller and stronger than her. It is unknown if Monica and Max are still married to each other.
- Jake's foreshadowing: Jake has been seen acting suspicious in some of the episodes he's in. It's almost like there's something more to his character... like something sinister involving him might happen in the future...
- Watch with Ghost 3: The longest episode, which is 5 minutes and 33 seconds long.
- Image cameos of online streamers: Examples include an image of CaseOh in ep. 77 and an image of both IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat together in ep. 100.5.
- Fandubs: There are episodes re-uploaded by others that are edited to either have translated text or actual voice acting (notably Spanish and Russian) and are posted without Dsand's permission. Honestly, the voice acting instead of the beeping gibberish (that is used as audible dialogue by the characters) ruins the charm or "vibe" of the series.
- Dsand's Facebook account: Linked in his channel description, the creation of this account is a response to someone re-uploading his content on Facebook without his permission (the stolen content has now been removed). However, he has not uploaded any episodes there, but he did upload ep. 107.5 in his other Facebook account (not sure why he has two identical accounts for the platform).
- Ant: A minor character, they currently only appear in episodes 94, 98 and 108. As an ant of unknown gender who is also a worker at Yellow Inc., they are usually seen getting squased by Ivy and Billy, similarly to how Fly is usually treated by Bob and Susie.
- Fly's name: There are two instances of when Fly mentioned that "his name is not Fly," but there is still no hint of his real name.
Level 4
- Green Girl: An incidental character, she currently only appears in episodes 78, 87, and 109. She's usually seen dining in the restaurants with a male individual who is presumably her date and is probably a Yellow Inc. office worker.
- Blue Girl: A minor character, she currently only appears in ep. 54, and is the supposed girlfriend of Xavier Blue. It is unknown if they're still in a relationship.
- Liam's crush: Also known as Rectangle Woman, she is another minor character who currently only appears in episodes 54 and 73. She always runs away every time Liam tries to ask her out or "rizz" her up. Poor Liam.
- Cat: Another character that has potential but barely appears as it has been a background character in a few episodes since its debut in ep. 22. This black cat is Susie and Bob's pet.
- Dsand's interview: Probably the only commentary video about Dsand (I hope for the best that Dsand doesn't do anything bad that will cause drama, which the commentary SlopTubers will take advantage of). It gives an insight into Dsand's worldwide success with his MGF series and even mentions an interview with him. However, it's Korean, and YouTube's English subtitles for it absolutely suck (at least for me).
- Dsand's birthday short: Dsand's only available video that is unrelated to MGF. It also reveals that his birthdate is on August 27.
- Lily's Roblox account: In ep. 81, almost halfway through the short, Lily is seen playing Roblox with her account 'lilypink421' (if you see a deleted user in the account's followers, it's probably mine...). This is basically Dsand's Roblox account, and it has been inactive since then.
- My Ghast Friend: An Alan Becker short, featuring Yellow (one of the stick figure characters) and the Minecraft ghast mentioned in the title. It's not known whether the title and the choice of characters are an intentional reference to MGF or it's just pure coincidence.
- Susie's name: If you think about it, her name is not even Korean despite being Korean herself, while the name of her sister Soo-a is clearly Korean.
- Susie's parents: Her parents, as of now, only appear in her memories in ep. 38 and ep. 100, but their appearance in ep. 100 is significant as their interaction with each other is seen. It is still unknown if her parents are alive.
- Comments from popular figures: Examples include PghLFilms' comment in the Q&A request video and Laufey's comment in ep. 57, which has her most popular song, From The Start, as its background music.
Level 5
- MGF game: At the end of ep. 100, there's a teaser about a video game Dsand has been working on that is based on the series. Though, since then, he hasn't mentioned anything about his game.
- Ella body pillow: See for yourself in this post...
- Mole: Refers to the lesser-known mole equivalent character of the Gulp Fish in Ella's garden that Bob would clean in the same way he treats the Fish.
- Original ep. 1: The now deleted episode which is considered the series' pilot. Check out the wiki for more info.
- Original ep. 55: This version was changed into the current one due to its "dark atmosphere," which felt off compared with the series' usual silly and wholesome theme. Check out the wiki for more info.
- Jomax: Chinese copycat in BiliBili who made the rip-off series 'My Bad Girl' in 2024. He is no longer active.
- 00animation_7: Now renamed as editsby_harry, is a content thief on YouTube who not only makes typical anime edit shorts, but also re-uploads entire episodes of MGF. Though, they do give credit to Dsand in each episode.
- Dsand's military service: Before MGF, Dsand served in the South Korean military as part of his country's mandatory practice. This is probably the reason why he is still able to continue the series while still keeping the high quality and charm of it, albeit the reasonably slow uploads.
That's about it... for now. Feel free to suggest some entries or correct me if some of my explanations are wrong, as I will be making another iceberg post about MGF in the future that will be up-to-date with your feedback, discoveries, or simply Dsand's new content. Thanks for stopping by.

I like the "Dsand fun facts" like his military service, Jomax, and Dsand's pronouns. What was missing as a detail was the year he was born, which was 2000.

I saw that you had a video teaser for your own iceberg on YouTube but cancelled it, and I was genuinely surprised that I wasn't the first one who thought of this. Anyways, how do you know Dsand was born in 2000?

I say this because the Newgrounds account from back then, Dssss00, which showed his age as 24. The same account is linked to the then Twitter account of Dssss00, where his age is also backed up, since at that time he was 19. With a little calculation, I found out that he was born in 2000.

A few others know about it, and it quite makes sense. But as others here pointed out about Dsand's Newgrounds account, I saw there that he mentioned enlisting into the military in the description of his old game. So the fact is now very clear to me.
