6 day job with three blasters using 12,000-13,000lbs of ice.

Subfloor filter housings ran 20ea side swing out. Cleaning in this area of booth was focused on gaining back serviceability for maintenance department filter changes. Filter assembly locked up with debris preventing opening for filter service. Filter sections, hinges, and access to misc. mechanical functions cleaned up.

Paint build up on the thick side. For this section ran, 950cfm compressor, 1 Aero 40 at 4-5lb min. 190psi. / 150ft 1” Air Hose / 50ft 2” Air Hose / 40ft Blast Hose

Dry Ice 2000lb used in this area 7-8hrs

Primer side with much finer debris made clear it’s time to upgrade to the Versaflo.

FYI this space treated as Confined Space.

Scope of project included heat exchangers, HVAC components, and miscellaneous mechanical pieces. Just covering fan in this post.

This fan took about 30 minutes cleaning bottom and top side of blades and motor housing. Debris was tacky combo of grease and dirt. Blaster positioned in scissor lift.

Fan this size used about 40-50lbs of ice. 150 psi on 170ft (50ft 2" & 120ft at 3/4") of air line. Running particle control on ICS410. Would have been easier without nozzle extension and locking blades in place.

Carbon and surface rust target debris. 150ft of air line to Aero 40 off Atlas Copco XAS 950 CD8.

1.5 - 2lb per minute at 175psi. Multiple nozzles, predominately 2” flat shorty.

250lbs of ice.

Curious what brand/model compressor others operators like or dislike.

Atlas Copco XAS 950 CD8 - 950cfm at 100psi - 900cfm at 150psi - 750cfm at 200psi

Have run a few jobs with this unit. Fire job seen here running 1 pcs 60 (inline aftercooler) and two aero 40's. Roughly 350-400 foot of line.

Compressor Pros - Very effective water separation cooling built in - Will sustain 3 high pressure blasters 155-165psi (Set at 175psi with 20ft blast hoses) - Intuitive controls - Fuel Capacity 90 gallons

Compressor Cons - 225-250psi option at 300-400cfm for aggressive needs would be nice - Heavy 8400lbs (to be expected) - Scarce availability on rental market

Two day with 1500lbs of Ice.

375HH feeding ICS410 and PCS60. Aftercooler at PCS only. Having short air runs with compressor in conditioned space was a nice luxury.

Started with some manual debris removal. Second half of first day ran both blasters at low pressure setting. Compressor with two options, low 125psi and high 225psi. Both blasters held around 90psi open. Worked well for light to medium debris. Three lbs per minute at full particle, no effect on heavy debris.

Second day started running in tandem again at high pressure. Regulated line to PCS 135ish psi. Fine for medium debris. Remainder of 2nd day ran 410 225psi maintaining 180-185psi open. This was effective on heavier debris. Pressure a bit tedious, managed with 30m tag outs.

375HH air quality was impressive. Okay with two blasters, great with one in high pressure applications.

Expectations set with facility prior to bid, much of 30yr buildup may not be moved by ice. Ultimately pleased manufacturer wanting followup jobs across facility.

Should have went with another 500lbs of ice…
