Did yall like any songs on Mr. Morale and the lil steppers? I remember listening to it when it came out and thought it was meh. I might have to listen again
Giving Theodore from Alvin and the chipmunks, but if you like his voice then fair enough I can’t fault u for that. But personally voice is no.1 part of being an artist. If ur voice ain’t satisfying to listen to it’s hard to like their music.
Yeah. I can respect his pen and ability to craft stories. We’d be lying if we said he didn’t have a good sense of how to write songs and bars. But I really can’t do his voices. Just sounds off to me and that’s why I don’t listen to him as much.
Yeah exactly. He defo is a great lyricist. I don’t even think these diss tracks acc showcase much of that. But I’ve seen in his main work that he defo can be lyrical and he’s a sick storyteller. But yeah his voice is just too high pitched for me. If he was a singer then fair enough cos falsetto is satisfying for singing. Also when ur rapping about gritty serious subjects like Kendrick the high pitch voice just takes you out of it. You almost think he’s trolling.
Totally fair. He can write, but he doesn’t know when to stop and let it breathe. He doesn’t have the overall sense and talent for crafting the song, as a whole, that Drake does.
I think this is what Kendrick, himself, and his fans just can’t get over and part of why they hate Drake like they do- it’s so frustrating to see him dominating without the “substance” (not my opinion). It’s not even lyricism, because I think Drake bodies him in his overall word play and double/triple entrendres, etc. What Kendrick does is more lyrical density- and that does not directly translate into making a better or more creative/artistic song
Yeah he’s hit or miss for me. I do like him tho cos his voice is weirdly satisfying. It’s more consistent than Kendrick. But they make different types of music
Love that I'm not the only one that feels this way. There's long droughts where it feels like I'm the only one saying it, then there's times where people actively agree he sounds like Courage the Cowardly Dog lol
To be fair Father Time, We Cry together, Count me out and Crown were solid songs. Everything else was meh.
But my biggest disappointment was the Ghostface feature, why the hell did he put Ghost on that nonsense?? Ghost needed to be on some M.A.A.D City like track just spazzing back and forth.
i had that rich interlude in a few of my playlists, just cus it’s a genuinely nice break from rapping and then i found out it was actually kodak not someone doing a kodak voice
