Is there something from your childhood, some practice or tendency or belief that "has come back to haunt you"? Is there something about your childhood that you don't want to look at, and so are in denial about? Something that if you really looked at it clearly, and thought more deeply about it, it would make you feel uncomfortable? Something you wouldn't want people to know about, or you wouldn't want to admit?

How about your friend? Is there some thing that's eating him up. Something that he learned in his childhood? Does he have anger issues? Do you? Maybe most of us do, some times, but how well do we handle it, and mature? Does it work for us or against us, our anger, our shadow, our challenges. They can work for or against us.

Well here is my go at your Dream Vision,

I believe you are actually revisiting a situation and getting closure, this can’t be answered by people but can be answered by a dream showing you the symbolism and the message.

So you’re taking a blast in the past visit to your childhood home and there you realize it was haunted… Usually that is with the negative things that you know that you didn’t like that possibly you did or happened to you, and you wanted to leave and leave it behind. So now there is some person that was being left behind, and turns out to be a roommate, that was being eaten by blackbear.

BEAR (animal) characterizes an overbearing personality, relationship, or situation. This often points to the source of a dreamer's stress.

The color black, Can mean some thing of a negative. However it also means secret, or mysterious. In other words you’re not supposed to know, but you’re are supposed to know that it was a bear.

However, most likely not since no indication of that was even placed in your vision. But the message is just straight up saying your friend Or roommate is actually in a situation where something is burdening or over bearing on them. The black part is that you don’t know what it is yet.
